When your wife was there at the end. Woooo. Got me. Awesome adventure, thank you for capturing it and sharing.
Yea, I think the emotion at the end of the trail really came thru in the video. I really was blown away when she made the banner and waited for me at the end of the trail in Durango. I'll never forget this 💕
65 year old and now seriously considering doing this myself. Thanks. It is really nice to see this when anyone does it but kind of special to me when a mature guy shows that 20 and 30 yr. olds are not the only ones who love this life.
Wow. I am speechless. Probably one of the best documentaries I have ever seen.
I was about to say the same! This guy is a natural storyteller. I've done 3 bikepacking trips...and this one is now on my bucket list!
Dave..I'm a 62 yo female obsessed with mountain biking..This documentary meant so much to me....inspiring and deeply moving....
!!!
Im in need of someone to possibly do a portion of this trail, or connect me to anyone interested. Or, just hookup to ride out there,718 755 4031. Kenny
3 things that tell me Dave is a great guy:
1- Likes to stop and smell the flowers
2. He likes to ride bikes
3. Most important: Drinks Pacifico out of a can.
Great documentary.
@@davebaumann5567 Thanks for adding that. She definitely supported you in many ways on your ride. Great video and great philosophy. Blessings to you both.
From one 64-year old to another, thanks for the inspiration to keep getting out there and pushing one's limits.
Well done, sir. I just turned 61 and this trail is now on my bikepacking list. Thank you for an awesome adventure.
3 things that matter: 1 - Epic journey, it made me want to do it. 2 - Really excellent filmmaking, Mr. Yates should be very proud. 3 - Totally priceless support from your wife, you are a very, very fortunate man and smart enough to appreciate it. Much respect to all of you.
Dave please make a video on how you prepared in more detail.
Equipments, your bike, navigation etc.
what you took with you that was absolutely needed and things you could’ve done without.
Anything you need to do for safety? Wild animals? Thanks
Right on, brother. I'm a 25 year old southern man that has gotten very much into mountain biking over the past year. You've inspired me to attempt this entire trail - probably in the springtime. Very well done documentary. Thank you my friend.
My Uncle Jim, who lived in Colorado, told me every time he would visit that I MUST see Colorado! Year after year I heard this as a kid. 25yrs+ later I went to Colorado. While Uncle Jim had long passed away, he was SO right! The beauty at times almost brought me to tears. Awesome job on this Documentary. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Your outlook is Awesome!
I loved every bit of this film. Thanks so much for sharing. Great job by Davis Yates as well.
Uff! This is definitely one of the best videos/documentaries that I’ve ever seen on CZcams. Thanks a lot Dave.
Beautiful. Simply amazing. Great documentary, thank you!
I also like the fact that you don't keep asking people to like and subscribe - such amazing content sells itself
I'm 34 and I just told my two year old I'm going to do that someday. I'm going to be like you someday. Thank you for sharing!
Words can’t express how amazing this documentary was! So inspirational. Well done!
Dave, you are the great MAN, I respect you as the strongest man in this world.
Thanks so much for this exceptional documentary. I did the trail in 2010 and it is one of the highlights of my life. I took 20 days, 18 cycling and 2 rest. Your story brings it all back to life for me.
Thanks for the comment. It took me 20 days in the saddle and 8 overnights on the trail. I'm sooooo glad my wife agreed to shuttle me to many of the trailheads.
A really well put together documentary. Great message acknowledging God’s creation and love for your wife. Very refreshing in this day and age.
Please wake up to the fact that there is ZERO proof of a god or any of the many gods that man has created. Give science a hug and get real. You’ll feel free and “ born again”.
@José Fernández. To answer your question re “on what basis” does Joan Marshall make her comment, I will say that her basis is she is human and she has a right to her opinions and to reveal them in this CZcams format. Your “basis” retort really isn’t a result of thinking - it’s just your knee-jerk reaction of fear.
Well done. I enjoyed reliving my trip fom 2016. You have a good partner, honour her and keep your wheels rolling.
Bucket list, what an adventure, thanks for sharing and congratulations, as well to your wife, yah couldn't do it without her.
This should be on Netflix, your an amazing story teller sharing an amazing adventure!
I’m 67 and this video makes me want to do the trail
Desire and determination are the only requirements to do this trail. Do you have it?
Well I wasn't planning on crying but the end really got me. Congratulations to you and your lovely wife.
One of the few personal documentaries/adventure stories done in this diary format that I've seen and actually loved. well done.
Great video! I’m glad I got to ride this trail before my daughter was born. Best ride I’ve ever done.
Man I miss my home state (CO native, WA living.) This trail is now on my bucket list!
Stunning country , what a trail
Oh wow! At 60 you did this? I am barely 50 and in pretty good shape, I can't imagine of doing this alone!! Go Dave!! You are a rock! Amazing footage and just spectacular views!!! Thanks for sharing!!
@@ecoriv78 That would be me :) I run a production company in Colorado and went along with Dave on some segments to film and edit this.
Thanks you!
Davis Yates, who lives in my neighborhood (19 years old) rode with me on some of the segments and flew the drone and took the spectacular shots you see in the video. He's a great young cinematographer who put this video together.
All I can say is WOW!! What an awesome adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent, Excellent production !
Amazing aerial footage. Those drones have come a long way and you did a great job controlling it.
Thumbs Up !!!
Thank you. I enjoyed your video very much. I'll be 53 next month and you have inspired me to keep on riding. Great video.
This amazing documentary needs to be sold to Netflix. Brilliant stuff. I look forward to more adventures Dave.
I don't know where to beggin really. It's a fantastic documentry, QUALITY! And You are inspiration showing that when there is a commitment and love to what You're passionate about, age is not a barrier. Respect Dave 💪
Scenery aside, with your passion, camera skills and the information you gave, regarding elevation and burning calories, this is a top class video, with a great adventure thrown in there, really enjoyed it. I commented half way through and now having watched more it just got better and better, some of your cinematography work is outstanding, that bit about God drawing and then what you did, wow. Thanks for the inspiring video.
Thank you for the comment. Davis Yates, a 19 year old filmmaker flew the drone and did all the editing. He deserves the credit for creating this great video.
You have touched my heart and made my eyes wet, no need to say more Dave.
Indeed the best time on the bike is when you don’t think about anything-just melting to your bike and getting in the flow.
And with this amazing nature all around, perfect 👌 🚴💦
Not sure how I stumbled on this video but - WOW!!! the footage and commentary are incredible. Well done sir!!
I haven't been that sucked into a CZcams video in a long time. Simply amazing!
Wow! Just super awesome adventure. And a super video of it! The scenes of that trip are breathless. Filming and editing also awesome. I'm into photography and can only dream of being able to get to those places to film it all. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome ride and adventure! God Bless you and your wife. You are an awesome couple!
Wonderful story and drone footage! I have a huge love and respect for the Colorado Trail! Congratulations!!
One of the best bike videos I have EVER seen in 30yrs I’d riding. Sir... Thank You. I hope to follow in your footsteps.
Wow, thanks!
Honestly, I can hardly believe how well this turned out. The drone footage blew me away when I first looked at it - and I figured people would really like to see it.
Dave Yates is the name of an amazing, innovative mountainbike builder in the UK 80s/90s... Fillet brazed, stunning bikes! They would be perfect for an adventure like this!
So have to add another thing to my bucket list! Such a great documentary and thank you for inspiring us older guys!!
So inspiriting! Thank you!!!
Absolutely spectacular video Dave, without a doubt the best bikepacking video documentary on CZcams! God bless!
Very Nice, Dave. At 56, I'm realizing that I haven't spent enough time doing these hikes and bikes as I have wanted to. Thanks for the shot in the arm. Gotta get out there!
a wonderful bicycle trip by oneself
And beautiful scenery
Thank you for your way to go.
Wonderful pic. The beauty within the story as well as the scenes had me on the verge of tears several times. I’m rebuilding a hardtail to turn it into a bikepacking machine, and this just had me thinking... goals 🙏🏻
Rich Prescott Bike packing is a beautiful thing Rich. I wish you nothing but success on your journey.
I keep coming back to this trail. Love it.
This will be on my bucket list for sure!
What a wonderful video! Congratulations on your accomplishment. I share your love for this trail. And your wife is awesome, too!
Thank you very much! Could not of done it without the support of my wife!
Hi Dave - found this documentary on a Saturday evening over dinner. Really enjoyed your journey - thanks to you and your film maker for sharing the story with all of us!
Such an inspiration. Loved it!
There is some amazing drone flying skills in the that video (which helps make the film so much better). Amazing flying Davis.
Awesome video. Appreciate your gracious perspective on things....appreciation for God's creation, your wife, and the gift of being able to do something like this. Enjoyed watching very much
Just wow! What a truly beautiful trail, now added to my bikepacking bucket list. Congratulations on a wonderfully shot and narrated film, and on your own personal achievement - I have been inspired.
Wow what a spectacular documentary. Fantastic footage and real, down to earth naration. My bucket list just got longer...
Very nice production. Davis Yates did a great job documenting your journey. I'm sure that took lots of coordination and time. Beautiful trail, congratulation for completion. You may be old, but you're tough.
Thank you for your kind words Tom! It was a lot of work to put together but it paid off in the end.
This guy is going in style....so many don't have people and cars waiting for them. Still, very inspiring, especially for a dinosaur...
Thank you! What really made this trip happen was the support of my amazing wife. She knew I wanted to do this and I was struggling to make it happen when she said that she would shuttle me to the trailheads. Also, Davis Yates is a neighbor who was interested in this trip and he flew the drone and did a fantastic job putting this video together.
Truly spectacular accomplishment - both the ride, and the film. After living in the DC area for the last decade, I'm finally getting ready to move back home to my native Colorado. Can't wait to be back in my mountains, and your tremendous work has rocketed the Colorado Trail to the top of my "to do" list once I get settled. The saddle of my Mason 2 awaits, and thank both you and your lovely bride for sharing this beautiful triumph with the rest of us. You may be a "dinosaur", but that just makes you one heck of a BEAST.
Awesome video and filming, that’s quite the achievement at any age , but to do it at 64 is amazing, congratulations !!!!
outstanding Dave!!!!! What a glorious trip and achievement...
This is as extraordinary as knowing we are spinning on a planet on its journey around our sun .
Dave I might have to do this one !
This was really great Dave. I may be from BC, the spiritual home of mountain biking but I long for Colorado...very inspiring.
What an incredible film! And 'Dinosaur'!! At age 60, I guess I'm well qualified to carry one too.
One of the most beautiful and eye opening experiences I have watched. Thank you Dave. Loved all the angles, story, videos and editing. I look forward to taking this challenge and experiencing this with my wife.
Just such an excellent documentary... I teared up watching it... now this is living...thank you for making such an amazing video
Wow, thank you!
Davis Yates, who lives in my neighborhood rode with me on some of the segments and flew the drone and took the spectacular shots you see in the video. He's a great young cinematographer who put this video together.
He was the "camera crew"!
Ok, how is it possible this doesn’t have a million+ views and tens of thousands of subscribers!?!? Your video is so well done ! You now have one more subscriber!
Wow, thank you!

David, I am so proud of you! My husband and I watched this twice. I haven't seen you since you were, uh, 14? We sort of grew up together, as cousins, my last name Deem like our Grandma Pearl. I used to come to visit your sister and your house full of family! I am so very proud of your accomplishment. I am going to show this to my children.
Hi Carolyn - been a looong time for sure. So good to hear from you.
Do you still reside in Indy?
You probably know Donna passed away last year after a long fight with cancer. Winnie is 91 and going strong, still living in her own house.
I hope you and your family are doing well.
BTW - how did you ever come across this video?
@@davebaumann5567 , I am friends with Ken, Linda, Shelia and Charlie on Facebook and Ken had posted this video. My family moved to Brown County when I was in 4th grade, I bet you just don't remember coming down there. I may even have old pictures of visits! I married a Brown County man and we have 4 sons. We still live in Brown County on a hill with one of the best views in Indiana! I did know about Donna and was saddened by her passing. She fought long and hard. I talked with your mother recently and it was a good talk. She is a spry lady for sure! I enjoyed our talk a lot! It is good to hear from you! You know, WE are the old ones now. :)
Wow!
Inspiring. Emotional. Thoughtful. Exciting. I cried half way through. I’m 54 and the last three years I have suffered skiing injuries
I haven’t tossed in the towel by any means. But this video gives me a considerable hope. My Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Thank you! This adventure touched me deeply in many ways, I'm so glad you decided to come along and share your feelings with me!
I just can't stop WOW! AMAZING!
Thank you so much. I was blown away myself at how well this turned out, and how it captured how emotional this trail made me feel.
Epic! What an inspiration you are Dave. Thank you for sharing your journey. Tomorrow I’m going to dust off my bike and start riding again. I miss it.
This is just epic! Awesome shots, great story and editing 👍 I hope I will come back and do the full trail in the future, one of my bikepacking dreams...
How beautiful and inspiring! I can't help but feel proud of your accomplishment with you!
Couldn't agree more Tito!
Very inspirational. I just happened to stumble across this video. I have a good friend that was was going to attempt bikebacking this year. Teo.
What a great story and adventure. I really enjoyed your journey. I'm 64 also and fixing to leave out on an 1100 mile fatbike tour through Texas. It's nice to see another adventurer my age. Thanks for sharing your story and all the best, Tony
What an awesome journey and documentary of a beautiful adventure! Thanks for sharing!
What a fantastic doc. The footage was absolutely stunning and the commentary was spot on! I'd be completely stoked to accomplish something like this when I'm in my 60's. Thanks for the inspiration!
Best Video about the Colorado trail! Thanks for sharing, very inspiring
