    Looking forward to getting the t:slim x2 updated to work with this. The part I look forward to the most is the short startup period. It always feels a bit like a gamble when you change the sensor. You never know where you'll be when the sensor finally States to again.

      I know, the shorter sensor warm up time is one of the best new features. Two hours was way too long to wait, 30 minutes sounds much better!

    Scott, the G6 sensors, IMO, are the big problem with the Dexcom G6. Personally, I have a 1 in 3 or 4 sensor failure rate. They either fail early or, worse, they give radically incorrect readings. Case in point, I was awakened at 3 AM a few nights ago and the device said my BG was 49. Half awake, I stumbled off to the kitchen. I keep a finger poke BG testing device in a drawer there because of previous incorrect middle of the night readings from the G6. I checked my BG using a drop of blood and it came back at 102. This has happened to me multiple times. Middle of the night strident alarm and then incorrect readings. Usually this occurs either with a new sensor or one that is in day 7 or later. I have repeatedly talked with Dexcom about this and have not gotten any good answers from them other than apologies and replacement sensors. I am concerned Type 1 diabetics not as experienced as I am (46 year Type 1), elderly people or children may make critically important treatment decisions based on these incorrect readings.

    REALLY would have loved if they would have added a small number next to the glucose number... with it being the change since last reading... like sugarmate has and whom they bought out. VERY handy feature. Looking forward to the 7 though!!!

      I never thought of that but that would be a great feature. Fingers crossed for a software update at some point to add that, maybe if we send enough emails requesting it they'll add it lol.

      @@diabetesdailydigest I was hoping when they bought sugarmate they would. i find that little number VERY helpful vs looking at some scrunched up graph. I appreciate all the videos you do. As a type 1 tech nerd its one aspect of T1 I like. Just got on the Omnipod 5 Love it so far!

    I leave my phone on a stand up charger turned on at night with the lowest light setting on the phone so when / if I wake up I can see my glucose reading. I’ve fashioned a cardboard overlay to block the iPhone screen except a hole cutout for just the glucose number. It would be nice to have a night mode feature where you could shut off the light to everything but the glucose number so the rest of the phone screen is not so bright. Does anyone else do this or something this?

    • @diabetesdailydigest
      @diabetesdailydigest  Před 2 lety +3

      That’s actually a really good idea. I hope they’ll one day build a feature like that into the app with a dim screen displaying just the glucose level.

      Even just a dark mode would be amazing. Idk about the G7 app, but the G6 app doesn’t even have dark mode for some reason. The Follow app DOES however… Also the G6 app iOS homescreen widget is exclusively dark mode. Its a mess I hate it just let me use dark mode!!!

    I keep being told to use my arm for the sensors but they do not stay on because I have very flabby arms from weight loss. I’ve been putting the sensors on my abdomen and keep getting chewed out by their tech support when I call for replacement sensors when it comes off. Yet none of the research regarding sensor placement supports arms over abdomen. I may need to change companies.

      As far as what's listed on their website, unfortunately not, it is only listing up to the Pixel 5. Hopefully this will change in time. This is a link to the compatibility page where I found the info if you want to take a look www.dexcom.com/en-GB/compatibility/dexcom-g7-app.

      Just like kingsix2000, size and shortened warm up time are key for me. I think I will want to fiddle around with customizing alerts as I don't think I will want to really silence the urgent low, especially while sleeping, but changing alerts somewhat is something I will probably do. One thing I don't like about the Dexcom 6 app is that it doesn't communicate with my Apple series 7 watch very well at all ( Apple knows they have problems with their Apple 7 watch communicating with the Dexcom app). Hopefully the Dexcom 7 CGM app will be able to communicate with Apple 7 watch better. I also have sugarmate app on my watch but it doesn't always give me readings on the watch face either.

    Hi all,
    My name is Yamini and my team is conducting a study for Dexcom G7 that is recently launched in the market. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to use the device and share their user experience with us while using the device (if Type1 Diabetic/Type 2 Diabetic). We will not only provide the device but also offer an honorarium to the volunteer.
    If you are interested, we can discuss in detail. Please reply on comment of interested.
