Even through the audio, I can picture the smile on your grandparents’ faces when they are able to speak and connect with their granddaughter. That’s such a beautiful thing! I learned Spanish and Portuguese, and although I have no heritage, it’s incredible to me all the doors it’s opened, the connections I’ve made, and the culture I’m better able to appreciate! I am currently learning myself French (duolingo) and it is very satisfying to experience progress. Are you considering travelling to Europe this year, with (or without) your girlfriend?

Van looks like its coming along nicely. I can appreciate the diving in to one's cultural language. I've been learning Irish I tried Rosetta Stone but it didn't work as well for me.

Try listening to as much while you are building your new van. Tv shows, things on yt, etc. it will come to you.

I am fluent in 3 languanges (my native Dutch, English and German). However Mandarin is a completely different language. I'm very impressed by your attempts to learn the language. And judging from your phone call with your grandmother she will be as well.
