  • This test is to find out the compressive strength of brick in compression testing machine, compressive strength of brick is very important parameter to check before starting the construction, for testing it is essential to note the length, width and height of the brick, the brick is provided with a indent known as frog on one surface of longer side, the depth of frog varies from 10mm to 20mm to hold the mortar and to provide good bond between the layers, complete step by step procedure is explained about compression testing machine.

The whole surface of the brick is not covered!
Use plates to get right results.

But IS Code only suggest to fill with mortar 1: 3 , not with sand, instead you can use plaster of paris

Will there be any difference in strength if we use sulphur capping vs sand capping? I think that sulphur capping provides more smooth surface as compared to sand capping which gives bit uneven surface. Please comment. And also what does ASTM advise? Suplur or sand?

If I used masala(send and cement mixture) in it, then the #compressive strength grows more I think 👍

Its easy to calculate manually, our aim is to calculate compressive stress and stress is calculated by Load divided by area, from machine just take the Peak load and also it gives area automatically or you can do length X breadth and just substitute in Load/Area and get the stress
