    This worked perfect for me on a '04 Focus. Dropping the glove box allows you to see the resistor, but for the bolt you just reach up underneath with a socket/ratchet. Just weasel your arm up the floorboard onto the firewall around the dropped glove box. At first I thought it was contained in a compartment (but not the case). Once I figured this out it was easy. Ford Part was 3M5H-18B647-BA. I picked up Part No. BWD RU1120 $15 replacement at O'Reilly.

    Thank you so much! Worked perfectly. My fan blower only worked on "4" and didn't blow cold air. Replaced the part and all now works fine. Saved me hundreds.

    Good video. When the blower resistors fail, this can be a signal that the blower is drawing too much current. Pull the blower down, clear out debris from the housing and oil the bearings. Or replace the blower motor if it's too bad. If this is left too long with only the high-speed circuit working, the extra current to push the fan can overstress the wiring leading to bigger issues.

      Also make sure the blower motor is not opposing resistance if turned by hand or you'll blow the new resistor as well over time.

    Dude I was stressing! since I did new Serpentine belt this last weekend while changing my motor mounts. I thought I messed up. AC button/light wasn’t even turning on. Took out the old blower resistor, had cracks and corrosion. Placed new one and it works like a charm! Thank you! Much help!

    Bottom line ... thanks. Story goes that the air conditioner wasn't working and I was having a problem with the vent selector. I managed to get the vent off the dash but air conditioner would only engage on low speed. Problems with my 2004 Ford Focus has me limiting any repairs and an air conditioning tune up is just too costly. I googled the symptoms and after viewing a few of the 'hi pressure' - 'lo pressure' videos I was pretty much resolved to forego any further action but the fan blower issue rang a bell from the other videos.
    I viewed your video and decided that I'd go the expense of replacing the heater blower resistor since it would only be about $25. I stopped in at Auto Focus and asked for the part, gal showed me a photo and I confirmed that it was the item I wanted but their list was $53.99. She looked over all of the options and found one for $13.99 but not in their store, but one a mile away. Placed it on hold and I drove over and picked it up.
    As you said it was an easy replacement (after dumping the junk in the jockey box) and took only a few minutes to replace. then the moment of testing the system. Drove off to get a little engine speed with the opportunity of testing the switches and air. Switched the blower on, the A/C light stayed on in high (sweet success) and the cold air was blowing out the vents.
    Ah, sweet, easy and cost efficient. Thanks heaps my friend.

    I had a Ford dealer replace this resistor 3 times in 6 months and was told it may be a heater unit problem which could cost over £400 to replace. However they came up with a solution. Always leave the setting on 4 BEFORE you switch on the ignition, when the car starts turn down the blower level to what you want. It doesn't make a lot of sense however I'm willing to try it for a while to see. I'll like to bet that if the motor is switched off before you start the ignition this would also save the resistor from blowing.

    TNX for the video. I think this is the solution to my problem.
    My history:
    1st i lost #3.
    I thought it might be the fan speed regulator, because
    when i pushed it in, it had some contact and while holding kept blowing.
    After couple of moths, on #1 and #2 no blowing but A/C indicator shows ON,
    #3 is out and #4 just fan, no A/C.
    I took the resistor out, waiting for new part.
    I was surprised that the fan STILL works at #4.
    Can somebody point me out the functioning logic how
    this resistor regulates the A/C being on or off.
    TNX.

    Any suggestions on a 05. It works fine in all speeds, then the blower motor slows down and quits. Let it cool off, and it will work again for about a minute. I did a voltage check at the motor, and it did change with the speed, until the fan started running slower. The voltage remained 12, no matter what speed was selected.

    • @CameronScottsChannel
      @CameronScottsChannel  Před 5 lety +1

      If resister doesn't do it then it might be the fan knob itself, almost everyone with the same problem has found the resistor to be the issue though.

      @TACOPOTENTE Před 5 lety

      Cameron Scott Yep! The Resistor and the Switch were available to change out and it turns out for me the resister was fine however I replaced it with new one anyway. It turns out the selection module was broken on the speed one and now I’m back in business!

    • @CameronScottsChannel
      @CameronScottsChannel  Před 4 lety

      Most likely the radiator fan is a separate issue unrelated to interior fan systems, take a look at the fuse diagrams associated with the radiator, it could be fuse related or another sensor.

  • @rickyiso5447
    @rickyiso5447 Před 9 lety

    Hi. Is this the solution also when the fan works on 1 , 2, only? My 3 and 4 speeds are dead. A/C works fine.
    (I am asking for a Focus MK1, i know the resistor is on the right side, etc.)
    Thank you

    • @CameronScottsChannel
      @CameronScottsChannel  Před 9 lety

      Ricky Iso Check fuses, if the fuses are fine then I'd say yes, it isn't expensive and pretty easy to do so might as well try it. My ac would work sometimes and then stopped working altogether.

    same car. my problem is week airflow. the blower motor works on all 4 speeds and i can hear it going faster as i turn the switch from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 . is it possible for the resistor nut to feed enough current to the blower motor causing it to spin at a lower rpm even if it works on all 4 speeds? or it s probably an obstruction, maybe the evaporator matrix filled with dust or leafs....
