- Blaenavon iron works at Blaenavon World Heritage Site. Explore the works and cottages with us! Blaenavon is a town in South Wales with an amazing indistrial past!
We went to visit the iron works at Blaenavon and were amazed at how much acess we had to such interesting things. Looking around the workers cottages was a real treat and we got to see close up, items that would have been used through the ages there.

The song "Sixteen Tons " Tennessee Ernie Ford . Dark , and sad history all around the world . Thanks Phil and Caroline . Enjoyed !
I owe my soul to the company store 😢
I know that song well... 🎵🎵 "Another day older and deeper in debt" 🎵🎵 Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
Wonderful history lesson. I love the transitions of the cottages thru the ages. great social history.
We loved the cottages too Cathy. Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
Sooo interesting , thank you all for all your hardwork
Our pleasure... Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
Me and my other half have very fond memories of Blaenavon as we only live down in Pontypool, we spent many a school trip going to the mine and ironworks as children. A couple of years ago Daf (my partner) is a carpenter and spent 6 months restoring a listed chapel in Blaenavon and we got to keep a pew for our home. And every so often I go back for nostalgia sake and rewatch the two series of coalhouse that they filmed in the 00s in the cottages at the ironworks. And it's our dogs favorite treat place to go at the top of the mountain for her walk or should I say excitable run around after we have had a snow fall. 😂
Wow, it's a small world Meg. My mam used to live in Pontymoil, and we lived there for 6 months. That's amazing about Daf and the chapel restoration. The countryside up there is great for walking the dog. Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
We so loved this explore video, so many things reminded us of our upbringing in the late 1950’s here in North West Kent. Metal baths hanging on a nail on the outside wall, mangles, copper boilers, outside toilets and of course coal fires with back boilers. Ice on the inside of the windows and our dads old army coats on our beds. Ah! The good old days 😊
Fantastic cottages with the different time-lines.
Thanks for sharing
Best wishes

Hi Both, yes those cottages brought back a few memories for us too. We had ice on the inside of the windows too ❄⛄❄ Glad you enjoyed the trip... Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
I have been busy the last couple of weeks with life during summertime and what a pleasure it is to take a moment and relax and listen to you both and your wonderful accents as you give me yet another beautiful tour in my fraternal ancestral homeland. I so want to visit Wales one day and I appreciate the interesting road trips you share. As always thank you for the work you put into your wonderful posts. You are sweet friends I never met.
I'm so behind with the comments, but reading them always makes us happy. And your kind words are so encouraging. We hope you get to visit Wales someday, but until then we'll keep posting the videos, knowing that you'll enjoy them. Thanks for your lovely comment and for watching 🤠😎🐼
Another masterpiece.
Thank you so much and thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
i LOVED seeing the different eras of living. So interesting, fabulous historic place and a dessert to die for Phil! Yum.. xx Teresa ❤🇦🇺
They've done a great job on those houses Teresa, and the dessert was lovely, and a nice size portion too 🤠😎🐼
This was lovely. Thank you.
Our pleasure Jackie... Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
A line from a song, " I owe my soul to the company store " came to mind when watching part of the video. Not an easy time.
Not an easy time at all... I was singing that song off camera... 🎵 "St Peter don't you call me cos I can't go..." 🎵🎵
I loved seeing the progression of how people lived there. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit! 🙂
We love it too Joni. Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
Nice tour of many years, very different. Thanks for taking us with you guys ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Our pleasure Susan, thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
That was amazing, so much history. Take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️, very jealous of your apple crumble and custard 😆😆
It was an amazing day Chris and incredible to meet Beate... And of course I just had to order the Apple Crumble & Custard 😄😂 Take care and as always thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
I am always struck by the history of these places. The imagination goes crazy in a place like Blaenavon Iron Works. Thanks for letting us tag along. That apple custard looked amazing. I spotted Manky 4 times.
Glad you enjoyed this trip Laura, it is the sort of place that sets the imagination working! The Apple Crumble & Custard was very nice thanks for watching 😎🙂🐼
Wonderful film Caroline and Phil, really makes me want to visit. 🙂
Hi Tom, I'm getting the comments answered at last... I'm sure you'd enjoy the area if you did pay a visit. Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
Cool how they showed you how the homes changed over time. Great video
We enjoyed going through the houses Carol. One day we will take a trip to Saint Fagans, they have a terrace of houses there too. Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
What an awesome place! I must visit there sometime! Thanks for taking us with you!! ❤❤
It's well worth a visit Leanne, and you could take a trip down Big Pit too 🤠😎🐼
Hi both. Did you see the Nantyglo Round Towers have gone up for sale? The last private castle built in the UK I think and another great bit of local industrial heritage. It's a bit out of my price range sadly.
I suppose you can't put a price on History Dave, but I'm sure they're going to have a good try 💰😱💰 Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
I counted 8 appearances of our little friend. One of them was just a toe shot by Beata.
Well spotted Dorothy 🐼 That one counts 🤠😎🐼
Such an amazing history. The sadness of the child labour. In my country, the conservative party is trying to bring it back
One of the reasons I love to share history Angela, is to wake people up to how things were so we can make sure the bad things don't happen again. Thanks for watching 🤠😎🐼
