Hearing Camera Obscura again is not only like looking back in time, but back several lifetimes ago in a world that doesn’t exist anymore. Incredible how this new content can do that. I miss it all.
Funny because I literally just discovered them through another band I recently got into. I feel like watching this video and listening to their back catalogue that all those years are flooding in like I'm a patient recovering from amnesia, and I feel a sense of fondness about that.
Were you a millenial hipster circa 2005-2010ish? I miss those days. Saw Camera Obscura open for Belle and Sebastian at the Fillmore in 2007ish. Feels like a different lifetime, like a different life altogether. I was a stereotypical SF hipster, riding my bike to City College, listening to indie rock, falling in love with cute alt girls, rainy nights with blurry headbeams and city lights, sleepy summer sunsets with fog horns in the distance from the Bay. Now, I'm a father in a quiet suburb. The world keeps turning.
My dad recommended this group to me this morning saying I might like it. I heard the first three notes and fell in love with this song. How beautiful. I mean, how beautiful. Its the sort of song you feel all the way to your bones
My favourite of the new songs and what a beautiful and moving video of the many fun and happy memories that Camera Obscura had on the road over the years. Lovely but also poignantly sad 😢 to see Carey offstage and relaxing and clever to show the new keyboardist (and friend of Carey's), Donna, watching the film. I've also read that Tracyanne wrote this in memory of her brother who died aged just 34 😞. Can't wait to see them for the 6th time in London, at Koko next month.
I agree with everything in your comment, except that (as beautiful & lovely as this new single is) I like _"Big Love"_ slightly (but decisively) better. 😉
@@mpbmpb100You know what? I may have got that wrong. I could have sworn that I read that in an interview but maybe got crossed wires. My favourite recent interview is worth looking up: it's with TA on Stereogum.
After a 14 year wait I finally saw them last night in Los Angeles, they were everything I expected and more. The place was packed and at some point after a huge round of applause, Tracyanne said, "we were not expecting this...". You guys should expect this and more. Please come back to LA and thank you for playing "Desire Lines". I cried during that song because that song means so much to me.
All your music has the capacity to hug my heart like none else ♥️ Your songs have been my companions for more than the half of my life, let's stay together for a long time! 😊
RIP Carey, what a lovely love letter, this band still has it & then some, sweet lullabies that rock & burning melodies that roll, hug your heart & warm your soul!
This song was for Tracyanne's Brother who died at 34. However, there is another song on the same LP as this one called 'Sugar Almond' which is about Carey.
Been rockin wit yall for almost 10 years i love the vintage sound. So innocent and nostalgic. When the song sped up to yalls normal speed i got so hyped. ❤
I'm seeing them for the first time at the Fillmore next week! I can't wait. I only got into them maybe 8 years ago but fell in love from the beginning.
Qué genial es tenerlos de regreso ! Mi banda querida que entraron a mi vida en el 2013. Gracias por todo y los momentos que me hicieron sentir cada vez que escuchaba sus canciones. Ahora en 2024 parece que me volverán a acompañar. :)
So touching. So poignant. So camera obscura. I love this band and have for so many years. Im so happy to hear the new record- it’s absolutely phenomenal. So mature and moving and personal. Everyone can relate. Can’t wait to see them in NYC and spread the love. ❤
siempre se agradece escucharlos y mas con nueva musica, esperando el disco con emoción, sin duda mi banda favorita desde que los escuche en canal 11 con frech navy me enganche de la banda, saludos desde México
0:17 "My bathtub is keeping me clean?" The song title instantly attracted me. This is my new favorite song, and it will always remind me of the blooming lunaria and bleeding hearts in my newest garden. Thanks for coming back!
So glad this band decided to start making music again. They have a very unique place in the indie ecosphere.
"he had a lot to give, wanted to give to me" - on repeat rn 😍

Agree! This is the exact feeling I get when I play Let’s get out of this country.
Life got weird and gets weirder daily music is the only thing that captures the good days

This song is beautiful! Vintage Camera Obscura. I m a happy man.
So many clips of Carey, she'll always be in this band as her sound is in every song.
Beautiful and bittersweet. How quickly the years fall.
So glad you’re back. You’re so important to so many people

@@ricardosolorzanoruiz6262 That's fine, they're both very good and we can agree that it's wonderful to see them back after 11 years.
@@w13ken Absolutely! 😉👌🏻 I am overjoyed with Camera's triumphant & long-awaited return. 😃💓🔥🤘🏻
Ah, I didn't know Donna was a friend of Carey's. That must make it easier for everyone involved.

Beautiful song , so glad you're back, looking forward to the gigs
There you go making me cry again. Loved catching that clip of the Great American Music Hall sign in San Francisco. Pretty sure I was at that show.
I was there in April 2010! 😱 They were fantastic!
I think there is a camera obscure in the base of the San Francisco side bay Bridge. Never seen it myself...
@@brianfisher6799 There is Camera Obscura in the Lands End area of the Outer Richmond District, adjacent to the Cliff House, north of Ocean Beach.
@Sctmpsn I did not expect a single response to this comment, let alone within this time frame. Thank you for the "obscure" info!
@@brianfisher6799 My iPhone popped up with a notification when you posted it 😂 You’re welcome!
