i'm interested in growing some round-ish shaped blobs.
i want the foliage to be as fine and dense as possible to create a very smooth appearance.
which variety of shrub would be best?
i have been told to look out for evergreen small leaved azalea japonica, but the ones in my local garden centres are not particularly small leaved. have i been given the right information?
other than azaleas and box, what would also be a good shrub for getting a very dense smooth look?

The question is when you do this…after blooming?

One question , what is the name of the plant that Niwashi Ben is applying the technique on?
