Solid list. Pikesville runs ~$42 in my part of CA. A real bang for the buck rye IMO. I'd add Redwood Empire's "Emerald Giant" rye for ~$33 in my area.
I've enjoyed the Driftless Glen 51. Our bourbon society in GB (Great Britain) was able to source bottles and we did a tasting, along with being able to buy either the bourbon or rye (I ended up with the bourbon). I really enjoy my Sagamore ryes (rum finish & cask strength) and New Riff Balboa the most, though I also like my Angel's Envy Rye too.
Cheers and thanks for watching, glad to hear you're enjoying some great whiskey. 🥃
Great list and surprising that there are a couple I have not had yet. That said, it is only because they are not available here! The other 3, love them! Cheers!
Excellent ryes here. The Sagamore double oak is my favorite of the Sagamore lineup. The cask strength is my #2.
I drink plenty ryes. At the moment Tumblin Dice is my favorite. It has a great flavor that sticks around. A Citrusy Pepper bomb 💣
WT101 is amazing for 30$ is great deal. Michters is AMAZING. but its expensive. 50$ GREAT VIDEO.,
Thanks Mike, appreciate you watching and commenting! Thanks for the support! Cheers 🥃
Great bottles. I only have 4 Ryes in my collection. My first Rye was Old Forester 100 Proof Rye. I then picked up Pikesville, which I really like. The New Riff Balboa Rye is fantastic and makes me want to try more ryes. I recently picked up an SLB Drinks Sagamore 7 Year Rye pick and it is pretty darn good. I prefer Bourbon to Ryes, but may try more. 🥃
If you're looking for more or different Club picks, I run the Mash and Journey Whiskey Club and would be happy to send you some info. Feel free to shoot me an email.

Nice one Hock! A certian store in NoCal has Pikesville for $39.99, Love it! I would add Emerald Giant which is $29.99 here, Cheers!
Oh thank goodness you had Sagamore on your list. I’m biased since I don’t live that far from there, but they really do a great job. I would actually have the Knob picks on this list. I’ve never had one that I didn’t like and the value is tremendous
Hey Hunter, thanks for watching and commenting, I thought I had a knob creek rye on the list or as an honorary anyway. Cheers 🥃
Great list for me I would go Sagamore, JDSBBP Rye, Wilderness Trail Rye. Been hearing good things on hard truth and driftless glen
Kind of wish I would have also included Hard Truth, just didn't know if enough people have had a chance to try it yet to have on tge list, but I agree. Cheers and thanks for watching 🥃
Biggest thing of your whole list - everything you listed is $60 max. I've shared your own Driftless Glen Pick (Mash & Journey) and it universally is top 10 of all time for many, including internationally. Knob Creek to me is even more underrated than Pikesville. Rittenhouse is Pikesville's little brother and even more affordable. Sagamore is like the perfect introduction to the MGP 95/5 style. What a great list.
Perfect timing. I'm shifting towards enjoying rye over bourbon at least for now. Sagamore cask strength is so good. I'm still amazed/fascinated on how complex seagrass is.
Love what it is Sagamore is going and have been doing. Also that Seagrass is a monster and is super enjoyable! Cheers, and thanks for watching 🥃
Great list, no arguments. Sagamore makes several great ryes. New Riff and Skylum also making great ryes. Pursuit United ryes are delicious-both flagship rye and Oak Collection. As with bourbon, we're in a golden age of ryes.
Hey Dave, I appreciate you watching, and thanks for your comment, u always appreciate hearing what others enjoy and why! Cheers 🥃
Great list. Shout out to Driftless Glenn and our badger state. They're making some great stuff.
Cheers and #OnWisconsin love me some Driftless Glen, have to lget you in our Whiskey club, The Mash and Journey Whiskey Club if you're interested in great whiskey, Cheers 🥃
Great list although Pikesville doesn't agree with my pallet.
And that's ok, you drink what you enjoy and nothing wring with that at all. Cheers, and thanks for watching 🥃
I’ve never enjoyed ryes nearly as much as bourbons. Even high rye bourbons don’t match my preferred flavors. With that said, this is a good list. Cheers 🥃
Im a big fan of the OF 100 rye. Love sagamore. I still haven’t tried the pikesville yet though. Cheers
I think you'll really enjoy the Pikesville, it's very approable and easy to sip. Cheers buddy 🥃
Another good option can be New Riff, Hard Truth, JD SBBP RYE, Emerald Giant by Redwood Empire.
I need to try Driftless Glen and Pikesville. Thank you for the recommendations. 🎉
Appreciate you watching, and thanks for sharing your suggestions. Cheers 🥃
The driftless Glen and Hard Truth are a couple you really need to consider. Cheers 🥃
Ryes have really exploded in the last few years. I have an r/bourbon driftless glen 7 year that is phenomenal. Also, Pre-Campari buyout, I have a Wilderness Trail 6yr 7mo store pick Rye that is a world beater. Lastly, I got a Sagamore distillery exclusive 123 proof blend of mgp and their own distillate that is fantastic. So much good rye coming out these days.
Just finished my 101 rye last night wish I could get the rare breed my local store had it for awhile but it’s not coming in anymore? All these are great picks. I only drink them neat still great flavors from rye’s. It’s funny I get popcorn on the nose with rye whiskey often. I have a pretty decent palate and I like all whiskey have a few friends that either don’t like wheat or single malt and that shows just how different we are.
Cheers Umami, appreciate you watching and commenting. I'm not sure why you aren't seeing the RB, We see it all over by me and usually at a great value.
Man, we've got to get you into our whjskey club, The Mash and Journey Whiskey Club, and get you some great single barrel picks and / or blends created.
Cheers 🥃
Driftless Glen for the win! I have a couple real good Dancing Goat/Limousin Ryes as well. Dang I have a lot of different brands. Yep, I'm a Rye Guy. 2 of the most interesting and unusual Ryes are Leopold Brothers 3 Chambered Rye and a small batch Dark Rye from Corsair. (they use a little chocolate malt in the mash bill) Cheers.
We must have different pallets, I just opened the Prideful Goat rye, I always keep New Riff balboa rye on hand, along with Angel's Envy finished rye, Rittenhouse rye, and when my budget allows I'll pick up a J Mattingly rye
At the end of the day, drink what you enjoy, no harm in that! Cheers 🥃
Also let’s talk about willett rye
Not a fan of it at all! That's me I juat don't enjoy their whiskey like others! But, that's the best part, drink what you like, no fault in that! Cheers 🥃
Ha, before the vid started, my first thought was Driftless Glen. Don't know the reg line but my private SiB is an absolute killer. This was meant to be a budget/mid price easy-to-find list?
Yes, basically ones you can fund and arexsomewhat affordable in addition to ones I simply enjoy sipping a lot or would consider for Cocktails but my lists really focus on tripping it neat. Cheers, and thanks for watching 🥃
The wild turkey rye is a sleeper. Also love Rittenhouse for the price point. Sagamore double oaked is amazing as well. Really wish it came in cask strength
Does the OF rye have that characteristic medicinal banana that the bourbons have?
Know my experience, it does not. Now with that said, I don't always get that weird banana note on all their bourbons. Rye is typically a whole different beast! Cheers 🥃
What the heck..no Hard Truth? For me that's better than all that there except the Sagamore😂
Agree, it should probably be on there even as an honorable mention, a simple oversize on my part looking back, I guess I'll just have to do another one, lol 😆
I don't really like Rye Whiskeys. Not sure why. They taste like dill pickles to me. The only one I have really like is the Sazerac Rye.
Definitely get some dill on others its more of a mint you get, different forxa, lot of them. Cheers and thanks for watching! 🥃
Michter’s should have been number 1 , 2 , 3 … if you can find single barrel or single barrel batch … let’s not even talk about their 10 year old … umumumum
Love the lists. Shows how people have different palates and actually may uncover some gems for others. My 5 right now -
Willet 4 year
OF 100
Laws
Rossville Union
Barrell Seagrass
I'm gravitating towards ryes as opposed to bourbons right now and want to try most all on others' lists!
