Pico 5 max with 4k micoOled will need more than x2gen2 chips set I'm afraid (4k micoOled will be close too 800 euro at lowest and that's for lenses only) not gonna happen I'm afraid
I have made a mistake. Pico 4 and Quest 3 screen resolutions are similar. And Pico 5 would be a slight bump in specs to 2.5K then.
@@thomasireland1770 Max is a PC headset with a display port, so it's run by PC GPU directly. Not the mobile chip.

I'm getting the quest 3 for the game library but man I love that Meta is getting more competition!!! This with the pico 4 and psvr2 really makes this a great time for consumer VR/AR!
All i care for is Eye & FaceTracking + huge Res + Wireless.
If Pico 5 Pro Max pulls it off, buying it will be a no brainer to me.

No need to hate on the Quest 3 tho, i enjoy Pico and Meta devices.
I think, even 2.5K on the regular Pro headset might be enough.. currently we have top of the line enterprise headsets with just 2.5-2.8K like the Varjo. And if Pico will bring same resolution to the 400-600 eur consumer headset next year that's already a win. :) but of course, 4K OLED will be coming to a production in 2024 and seeing a really hing end headset from Pico might be cool too. Again we don't even know, maybe it will be another enterprise headset and not for consumers.

@@MedienGulli There are diminishing results from resolution. So difference between 2.5K and 4K might not be that high. The OLED screen would be nice though.
@@MrTechcat I mean if Eye+FaceTracking is not for consumers. Im fine with 2.5k as no PC will run 4k times two on max settings at 120hz - unless were talking games like pavlov, beatsaber and synth riders. But real games, nah.
Pico 5 PCVR headset would be a dream. They should double down on PCVR by ditching the battery and onboard OS - but still offer hand tracking (which I hope PCVR applications start to take advantage of). Can't wait to hear more about it!
That's why im holding with my purchase. Im waiting for pico to release pro max.
With the power of the new chipset could be good for some stand alone games… i agree but would prefer a puc like the apple headset, and i head they are looking to copy apple so they may do this
I hope they add the ability to add hip trackers to the full body, or add as many trackers as you want and set them up.
It's all damn interesting, but what the hell are they going to do with the already existing pico foot trackers for Pico 4, if I'm not mistaken, they are still unavailable for the global version.
Pico Motion trackers are coming later this year. I have Beta already. They do work in combination with AI. Two trackers are not enough for leg tracking but with AI assist they do work well.
I'm gonna buy a meta quest 3 for now and just wait till they get released cause it's gonna be about half a year till they do. Very exciting new age for vr, lots of competition everywhere and growing technologies.
But does this FBT work with steamVR? I dance in VR with slimeVR 10 point VRchat via Virtual desktop app on my Pico 4.
Even if its not gonna work with streaming assistant a 3d party will surely implement it

As someone who uses Haritorax and Vive trackers I can safely say combining trackers is possible. So is combining slime and Vive

I saw in the pico store that they're going to release vrchat , that's a big plus. My biggest qualm with the pico 4 are the controllers, I really feel that the valve index controllers are better despite it being so old, it's the only 1 that has 10 finger tracking support on the controller itself. While the valve index controllers have straps that can tighten your hands, so even if you let go of the controller, the controller won't fall, while i always have a 'falling' sensation with the pico 4 pro controllers. Let go and it would drop on the ground, and the finger tracking on the pico 4 is extremely poor to say the least.
So, i wanted to use the valve index controllers , but support and compatibility is very poor to say the least. And i'm worried if i play vrchat in the pico store, would it have any compatibility with my tundra trackers or index controllers?
Non of Valve's things are going to work on Pico standalone. You can use it only on PCVR with Steam. And it will be pain in butt to setup (on any Non Valve headset). So just forget Valve's controllers and trackers, if you are not using their headset.
I have knuckle straps for Pico from AMVR. Pico controllers do have 6 finger tracking in VRChat, you need a compatible avatar but it does recognise just touching, o squeezing any of 3 fingers on one hand. Utilizing games that are using nvidia 3.5 DLSS alongside eye tracking, having a high-end computer might not be needed for the Pico 5 Pro Max

I wanted the Quest 3 to have 12 GB of RAM and they couldn't even deliver on that.
The only thing that was holding me back from buying the Pico 4 was stand-alone VRChat support for the Pico 4. I'ts been a year and still nothing, so I doubt the Pico 5 will support it. I'm getting the Quest 3 instead. It's not Pico's fault, it's just the VRChat developers have other focus areas like bringing VRChat to mobile instead rather than upgrading to a newer Unity SDK which they might need to do in the future anyway...
VRChat Public beta Unity 2022 is available for a couple of weeks on PC. So it might be coming to the standalone now. I play on pc anyway the standalone version sux on quest. You can get way better used pc/laptop for 500$ than quest 3 will be able to run vrchat ever.
Is it true that Pico 5 pro max would have a huge FOV of about 140? (Bard AI bot told me its a rumoured FOV of it)
FOV is not about bigger numbers. Pico 4 and Quest 3 has pretty much nailed FOV with 110'. That gives you good field of view and sharpness at the same time.
Well, from experience of years I can tell for certain that I need bigger FOV to actually feel immeresed since even when the res' of my Pico 4 is not bad and good enough then I still feel the FOV is a bit small from time to time so a FOV of 130 - 140 is very welcome@@MrTechcat

I wish Meta would put out a PCVR headset that compares with the Bigscreen or PSVR2, I like the Meta updates and software. Keeping my Quest2 until something m besides Quest3, pancake lenses are all I'd get as I do only PCVR

Sensors might be 3 dof but combined with AI the tracking is 6 dof.. by the way, there are 6-9 dof sensors. Again we have no idea what Pico is using exactly.
