    Oil changes every 3,000 miles. Car batteries last 5 years. A car warranty is voided if you go somewhere other than the dealer for service. Brake fluid doesn’t need to be changed. Tires shouldn’t be replaced until the tread reaches 2/32”.
    Sound familiar? We’ve all heard these car maintenance tips before but are they myth or are they fact? AAA broke each one down to make sure you are treating your car right.

    I gotta say when we switched to Premium Shell gas in our 2004 and 93 jeep Cherokee's, the difference was unbelievable. The 93 was Octane rated for the medium grade and the 2004 was Octane rated for the Regular. Wish we had done it years ago.

    PTUs in Fords need the fluid changed out often, around 30,000. Mine was burnt and depleted around 70,000miles so I check it more often. Some awd systems are said to last lifetime, including the Ford explorers and flex vehicles, but if you leave it there will be failures when you least want them, towing or long drive with the family or dogs and poof. No more drive line power to the rear. Otherwise I agree with the video 100, you helped me win a few old bets. I understand you didn’t bring up differential or PTUs but the transmission bit reminded me. 🤘🔥😎🔥🤘

    2016 Toyota Camry SE owners manual doesn't say anything about brake fluids, other than to check it. The owners manual does say 87 octane, but suggest Top Tier gasoline! Thx for sharing!!

    Very good video to help ppl. Maybe review headlight lens "cleaners". I did catch can video. Ppl forget crankcase pressure. Ppl like Engineering Explained and Scotty Kilmer. Weird. So I did my version with info that I thought would help. I would like to see what you think or know.

      Hi Road Odyssey, for headlight lens cleaners I have some good personal experience to share, maybe I'll put that into a Q&A(not sure it's good enough to do a full video unless I have some headlights to redo, which unfortunately I don't since I fixed mine). As to catch can, man I am pretty adamant about the subject, I actually used to run multiple tests with another Employee here, cause we were building our own and testing, if I can put together a good video would be nice. I am a big believe in the catch can, or I'll bring in an engineer guest (part of new segment I am thinking for the channel).

      @@talkingmods yeah, I was wondering if viscosity from synthetic to conventional remains equal in the motor. Or how does a synthetic transition interact +/-with existing seals previously weathered by conventional oil.

    Great video, very informative, only thing I would add is on the oil changes, you can even do them yourself if you save the receipt. Also, with tires, people often talk about with an all wheel drive, if you need to replace 1 tire it could be detrimental to the drivetrain if your other tires are more worn. Does that not matter if the tire is the same tread pattern?

    • @talkingmods
      @talkingmods  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! Wow a great question! So this comes down to what are we replacing, basically the answer is to keep the rolling diameter profiles at least within 1%, however certain AWD systems are more sensitive then others. Why because as you mentioned it can be detrimental to the drivetrain. Then again why would we leave the other worn out tires, my initial thought is it's going to be minor (because I don't you'll be driving like that for a long period of time), keeping the proper size tires (profiles) is the most critical on the drivetrain however. (I hope I was clear on that one)
      What do you mean in regards to same tread pattern? I am guessing this is a different question

    2 times I tried putting generic in my trans both times it slipped and jogged in acceleration. Both times I had to add OEM trans fluid and the problems get away. Oil changes though idk normal I change my oil twice a year and I only have 375k miles on it. But now that conventional is not available and I switched over to synthetic I will be changing it more often. Benefits of quality manufacturing 👍❤️🔔

      Nice AC! For that high mileage make sure to use the high mileage oil I believe they tread it differently. 375K Miles what are you driving?
