I supplied a rock quarry with fuel when it first opened, they had a mobile crusher setup so there was several pieces plus the loaders and trucks to fill , I ended up parking a older fuel truck there so I could stop and fill them in the evenings after work, I trained there shop guys on how to work the fuel truck to do their own fueling and I'd just refill the truck when they emptied it , been doing it for 13 years now .
The worst thing about those old Fords with juice brakes is just that the rotten Lucas Girling brakes. Hard to get brakes parts if you do find them very expensive to buy. For what you are going to use the truck for it will do just fine. One of the local logging contractors used to run an old F700 it had the 429 5+2 and juice brakes the truck had a 16 foot flat deck with Atlas knuckle boom crane. They had 12R22.5 tires on it all the way around, one of the old guys he put 9 tons on it he said the braking power was a little weak. The old truck wasn't known for its fuel economy it would burn 45 gallons of gas like nothing. It was a water tanker in its previous life for the fire dept the truck had really low kilometers.
You know I wish someone would of told me what perils lay ahead of me after I purchased a fuel truck, Do NOT get stopped by your state popo . first get rid of the 1203 and go to a 1993 it will save you if you get pinched, are you in a drug testing consortium, do you have a security plan, do you have a FBI background check, have you filed a msc insurance with the feds, have you been trained , have you had a recent tank test, and on and on, I almost lost everything over a fuel truck. my advice is don't go where the bears are, move in the middle of the night. or just get one of those pull behind fuel wagons that are legal without all the bs that comes with a fuel truck
My dad had a truck similar to that one, I can’t tell you how many days I spent going to work with him, and doing delivery’s for him as I got older. Sure do miss them days, I miss my dad too.
Having your own fuel truck will help keep downtime minimum and also help you buy bulk rate. You can not work and make $$$$$ when machines have no fuel.
That is a very nice truck! I don’t think you will be driving that truck long distances? Not the way the 429 burns fuel! I personally think it would be faster and a lot cheaper to haul it to your job sites… Especially if it has fuel in it. Plus like someone else mentioned that will draw thieves! Especially those who are looking for an easy score. It will be like fresh cheese and bacon juice on it to rats! It will definitely need some kind of a security system? Maybe with a few cameras built in metal boxes. The Lorex cameras run off 12VDC and a converter will run the recorder box. They have some wireless systems but if it were me I would hard wire them. I have one of their systems. It has motion alerts that will text you as well as and you can talk two ways through some of the systems and cameras. I have scared the crap out of a few delivery drivers by telling them thanks. I use my iPad and my computer my system. Plus that would be a huge clean up if thieves were to leave the nozzle open. I would definitely put some electrical valves with a disconnect on it so it can’t be turned on or drained without first opening the normally closed valve.
I've heard of red fuel getting charged sales tax, some of the places that got 6 dollar a gallon diesel, the road tax ends up being cheaper than the sales tax, so everyone's just running road fuel in their equipment
My question being is that the original motor? If so did it come fuel injected? The 429 gasser I have is carbureted and started burning so much oil we had to park it. The shop I had look at it said it wasn’t worth rebuilding so I ended up getting a different truck.
not to preach about safety or be a safety sally my brother works for one of the large truck rental companines they policy is to not park fuel tanker trucks or trailers inside to work on them they had an empty trailer explode in one of the shops yes I know diesel is safer the gas and an empty tanker trailer is more dangerous then a loaded one especially if it was used to haul gas I'm just saying you should be extra careful keeping it inside a closed up garage especially if you have the heat on
Thunder creek fuel trailers with air compressor grease can def look them up tow behind your truck Dirt perfect has one check his channel out or look them up 800 gallon of
@@2-bar-one I may have slightly exaggerated, but if you have several big machines running full throttle all day, you can go through hundreds of gallons a day. Not sure what Charlie's average fuel burn is on his jobs, but I would guess when he's got two reclaimers, a dozer, a spreader, etc, I would expect at least 4-600 gallons a day, if not more.
Makes total sense to me and is a lot nicer than the one I had at the tank farm/terminal some 25 years ago. Once placarded those things draw some unwanted nighttime attention on job sites, I'm sure you've thought of ways to secure it and it's contents. Also, be vigilant in never accidentally putting dyed fuel in the wrong vehicles, I've been told that cleaning the dye out of the whole fuel system involves flushing it. If you fab up a strong rear bumper and mount a pintle hitch on it.....
Like you my machines have a bad habit like drinking them dinosaur bones my new machines are 17 and a19 and atlas copco did a great job on hydraulic management and cut my fuel consumption from 20-26 gph to right around 8-17 gph which all depends on size of hole sorry off topic in a 10 hour day burning about 300 gal times 5 drills well not all 5 usually 3 gets old lugging that much fuel and I can or I worked out with a local fuel guy to deliver around 2500 gal to a truck we bought nice shape truck anyway the amount we saved by getting a bulk discount paid for the truck in right around three months and the quarry my customer liked it cause there is a accurate accounting of the fuel being used me or one of the guys read beginning gal on meter and ending gal it’s just nice
That would need a lot of changes. Separate pump, lines, nozzle, heater, and some tank changes as def is corrosive. All def tanks are plastic for a reason. Now he could put in a couple 30 gallon plastic tank setups in the side cabinets.
Always with the "they" statements. "They" said this... "they said that". Did you see any fuel shortages? Nope Did you see any DEF shortages? Nope Do you still listen to "they"? Yup.

A favorite saying of mine on putting off projects.
“I’d love to procrastinate, but I can’t seem to find the time!”
😂😂😂😂😂
That is one well maintained old Ford,, that thing sounds fantastic !!
Glad you are back, had us worried a bit.
If you make them, we will watch!👍👍
Going to be a great addition Thanks for sharing 👍
with the price of fuel you have more money in the fuel then you do in the truck .. I would also leave that truck locked in a safe garage ,,
That fuel truck is going to be the cats meow!
Keep the videos coming Charlie, I enjoy every one. Chris could probably use a fuel truck too
You can lite some good brush on fire with that rig, JPD loves his.

Thanks Charlie for coming back with your posts. We all enjoy your videos.
Love the videos Charlie. Glad to see you back.
Nice truck Charlie good to talk to you today
Thanks for the latest video, Charlie. Fuel is a Very Important piece of Running Big Machines at Work Sites. 👍
Thanks for the video Charlie , keep them coming !! Cool fuel truck by the way !!
Nice video Charlie from Mississippi

Agreed, anyone can buy it. Not everyone can be legal with it.
How do you select what tank the hose reel is on? How would you flush out the hose reel from oil to gas?
If she rolls outside anytime could you take a quick video? It's got character.
This is an awesome channel, so glad I found Ol copperhead marine!!
That is a cool old truck thanks for the video
Dang right "its handy to have".
I enjoy your content. Thanks for trying to give us more. Busy as you are I'm sure it's easy to let it slide but we appreciate your efforts.
Worthwhile purchase and a cool truck to boot. Thanks for the video and post up some footage once you get her rolling.
Charlie your ingenuity has got you where you are today!!! Absolutely love it!!!
project fuel truck ! Hard part of this rig , is filling is $$$$$$$
Good insurance for staying productive and independent!
She's a beaut Clark.
I thought those were the Copperhead Cove Marine corporate colors?

nice truck
CharlieI really enjoy your videos. Even if you just are driving to a job post it. I enjoy your stories too. Thanks for making the effort to post
Neat old truck
Nice project! Looks like something that will serve you well for many years to come!

Should've done this with my dads 61 International Sinclair truck!
Farmers have a “ thunder wagon” holds a thousand gallons of fuel, def, room for gas air compressor.bumper pull type trailer
Smart Move!
Very nice Charlie !
Keep UM coming Charlie, we enjoy em!
Very good idea.
I love your terminology ,previously 😉 I have fixed a few of these things before
Keep um short like this, Charlie! 👍🏼
That old girl has some life left in her for sure. Not a fan of those brakes but I’m sure you know as much as I do about them.
Good video great length. 😎
Wow.. that will be nice to have for fueling just about any of your equipment.
Loving the videos
Very cool!
Just a shame it’s a gasser, you can’t fuel it with the tank on the back LOL, hopefully it has a BIG tank/tanks on the truck
I was wondering when you might get a fuel truck. Good for you. Good video thanks
Great video, can’t wait to see updates on the fuel truck
Big gasser ,big fuel tank behind it lol
But to keep yourself going 24/7 it's a good thing ,or if times get tough,be a good moonshine hauler 😛😛😛
It's a pleasure seeing new videos from Charlie.
Thats so cool that you can now get your own fuel to the job and your equipment. Have a great week
Nice 👍🏼
You can get a quick disconnect for the hose so you can switch out nozzles. I have put them on a few of are trucks at work drivers love them
Mr. Charlie that’s a great purchase! Will definitely come in handy! I’m liking the dodge 2500 in your shop
Definitely some potential
Love the channel. Glad to see the videos.
cool
Looks like a good investment especially with fuel sometimes being hard to find just keep it full

Better get some mud tires on it too!
Nice
The 429 sounds damn good that beautiful Dodge back there looks like a beast.

Looks a good one bro I hope it serves you well. Safe travels
That fuel truck looks like a cool resto project.

They are like $30k?
That would last about 3 hours on a big job lol
@@ke6gwf shows you how much i know o well have a nice week

Oh, flames DO look cool on a fuel truck. NOT that I would know anything about that..
Can we get (the shepheard by Frederick Forsyth) part two

Looks like a grand old girl.
You should paint yanmar red
Maybe some recovery hooks?
I would paint something else, saying it's a fuel truck just invites is to walk away some day.
How thirsty are the rm500s?
Do you need to carry DEF. Maybe one of the other tanks would work for that purpose.
That would need a lot of changes. Separate pump, lines, nozzle, heater, and some tank changes as def is corrosive. All def tanks are plastic for a reason. Now he could put in a couple 30 gallon plastic tank setups in the side cabinets.
I’m looking at some older f700 or 800s. Worth it to go from a clamp style rim to a more modern 10 lug bud style? Been reading mixed thoughts.
Chris is rubbing off on you
Did you say a fuel shortage? OMG, please find another news station to be watching rather than fox for god sake’s thought you were brighter than this.
