I've always had such respect for people who can design. I've tried to wing a few basic shapes and math definitely comes into play. I really enjoyed this video even though i don't want to design but knowing about the process and time it takes for people to design something out of their imagination just makes me more grateful for their talents. A lot of my friends refuse to buy patterns but honestly, so much work goes into the design that it's worth it, to me, to support artists who work so hard. Sidenote, you should totally embrace the alien bear and just go ahead and design an alien, green yarn and all 🙂
Thank you so very much!! And I have never even thought about just going with the alien!!! Lol! Thank you for that idea! 💚
I agree. I like FREE stuff, for sure. But a well-written pattern is worth the small price we pay for a designer’s efforts.
I’m grateful for those people with creative brains who share their talents with us in the form of a pattern.
Blessings!
I wish more people appreciated the effort that goes into designing and making art like you do 🥺
@@nryane I’m always happy to buy a pattern, I’m a artist myself and I think patterns are just as much a work of art as a painting. It’s just directions for making the art. I don’t have a lot of money but I love supporting other artists when I can.
I would love you to do a video showing us your collection of amigurumi. Your work is beautiful 😍😍🥰🥰
Thank you so much! I've given away or sold so many of them over the past few years! But I definitely have photos! 🍁🍂
I loved the “mm” after you said “Algebra teachers would be so happy that we are actually using algebra in our every day life” 😂 they win this round. HA! Round. Get it. Because Amigurumi. 😬 I’m so punny. 😆
I LOVE that little "alien" bear. Please make him arms and a sweater. I think he needs a yellow raincoat and wellies. I think you are not seeing how cute he is because he is not what you had in mind when you were making him.
Awww! Thank you for the suggestion!! He would look cute with a raincoat and boots!! ☔️☔️☔️
Thank you!! I've made it a new years goal to write an amigarumi pattern and this is a great jumping off point 😊 Much appreciated!
Thank you for all the great info! 😁 I’m amazed at all the wonderful resources you are sharing here. I’ll be returning to your videos over and over again-especially this video! You truly are sharing all the good secrets here to creating your own creatures! Your own “Three Little Pigs pattern” are adorable and a great place to start!❤️
Thank you SO much for sharing Elise, I'm truly loving your Ami's and learning from your videos and I do want to learn how to write my own patterns one day!!And I love your Alien bear, he's too CUTE!!❤️🥰
Thank you!!! I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos!! And good luck to you!! 🧶🧶🧶
Incredible tips... thank you soooo much! I always get excited when I see a new video posted out. Please make a video about ALL your crochet and knitted projects
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the video!! And thank you for the suggestion!! 💖
This is exactly what I was looking for! I love making toys. It's like solving a puzzle, but I've been having a heck of a time finding resources for designing like shaping and the baseline math. Thank you so so much.
This is invaluable, Elise! Thank you so much for sharing your resources. Im in the “make lots of amigurumi projects to learn techniques ” phase but I know some day I’ll want to try my hand at it too. Love it! 💕🧶💕
I'm so glad you liked the video, Roz! And I have no doubts that you will be designing in no time! 💟
WOW! What a gift to your viewers! If anyone was even remotely thinking of becoming an amigurumi designer, you’ve covered it all!
Thanks for this, Elise.
Blessings!
Thank you sooooo much! I hope people who want to design find some of the information helpful!! 🧶🧶🧶
Once again such a fantastic video with so many helpful tips. I’m absolutely not talented enough to create my own designs, let alone write a pattern, but have great respect, and a bit of envy, to those who do. I now realise more about how much work actually goes into the process. Hats off to all designers, including you Elise, for your talents and creativity. I’ll just enjoy looking at and producing your creative visions. Thank you all x
Awww! Thank you so much! A word of warning... I felt exactly the same way not that long ago, you never know when the designing bug will strike!!! 🌺
Thank you for covering this topic! For those who are interested in pattern designing, but don't know where to start, this info is super helpful😊❤
Just want to say thank you so much for this video. It’s all my questions I’ve ever asked myself answered in one video.
This is helpful! I’ve been wanting to get my ideas on paper and now I have the resources. I have an amigurumi graveyard in my craft room. Poor little guys have been abandoned - but today they will come back to life. Awesome advice! Thank you!! Xoxo
I got such a vivid image of an amigurumi graveyard and the toys coming to life! Love it!!! And good luck to you! 💖
AMAZING! I've been after a resource like you shared of Kati's.. thank you so much! Great video 🥰
SO helpful. I just started designing and selling my own makes and needed this video!
I always wanted to design and now it is so easy thanks to you. Thank you so much!!
You always offer such excellent advice and resources! Thanks again.
You have totally described my feelings about design. I don't know if mine are amigurumi or just little knitted animals but they have started to pop into my head. About a year ago I started to make LCRs and crocheted toys. Then I got some books and patterns... and you know the rest. My idea was just to save a boatload of time so I designed a quick one on a knitting machine and now make bunches of them on my knitting machine. I can't stop making these things! I could do the patterns in knitting or in crochet but my hands cramp up with too much of that at my age. I'm in my mid sixties and my hands sometimes pop and ache a little - more so with crochet. I really enjoy your videos!
That's wonderful! I have never tried a knitting machine before!! I had no idea you could make toys on them either!! And I totally get the aching hands!! Good luck to you! 🍄
Thank you for this! I've create a couple of cute charters myself. I did not know about getting an editor and the skill share course, will have to check those out. I have read the blog posts you mentioned and agree that they are very helpful to creating your own designs. Thank you again for the information, it's very helpful!
I'm so glad you found the information helpful!! Those blog posts and the Skillshare class are so helpful!! 🧶🧶🧶
What a brilliant video packed with advice, thank you! I’d love to have a bash at designing another, less basic, amigurumi so I now have so many resources to help me, thanks for all the work you’ve put into this (and your piggies are gorgeous!) 🐷😘
Thank you so much, Ali! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!!! And thank you so much for your kind words about the piggies! 💓💓💓
I think you make excellent accessible videos , I would love to see a video on how you went about making them ! You have interesting inserts which keep us engaged . Thank you Elise.
I need you on CZcams has been amazing I've learned so much I have plans to make the catster I have the written print out of the pattern and some other things I love watching your channel I've learned so much thank you for all that you've created and I'll let you try to do.
I translate amigurumi patterns for designers (eng/rus).
This is so true about math mistakes (
Testers are helpers! :))
Thank you, Elise. Very useful information.
Thank you so much for sharing! That is a wonderful service you are providing!! ❤
Such great information.....I know it is a long process but lovely to get to the end stage.......I will try some things out....I will draft some ideas in my notebook....x
I'm so glad you liked the video! And yes!! Get those ideas down on paper before they float away!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for all in information. I doubt if I will ever actually write a pattern myself but the information you share in this video puts me in awe of anyone that does. I just love your videos and your pigs are so cute, gotta love that wolf too. 🐺
I think the hardest part is when I send a pattern to testers. I go over the pattern so carefully, and usually make 2-3 items to make sure I covered all the steps. I think I've got it all together...and then the testers find error after error.
Great video! Such good information… I have played with making a patterns.
I love Alien Bear just the way he is. No arms and all. I want him
Thank you very much for a very interesting video and all the links. 🌟🇦🇺
I love the way you broke down the how to and what to do, when it comes to designing your own amigurumi pattern. This will help me very much, my plan is to write my first pattern this year! ❤️❤️❤️
My first goal I am accomplishing is a few craft shows and work my way to designing. Your such a inspiration for myself. Thank you!
That's awesome!!! Craft shows are a great way to test your patterns to see if people like them as well! Good luck to you! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my f*ing god finally, FINALLY someone who solved my problem for the question "how do I make the shape I want and how does the way or amount I make the stitches influence the piece I am working on?"
THANK YOU for answering this question in the form of recommending this blog in 3:37 !
And by the way, this is the best video i found to inform me before I start my first steps as a little designer
You are correct I have a super great memory but when it comes to the patterns crochet needle and all of above somehow I won't remember now I carry a crochet notebook writing down needle n color n even a free pattern I copy it down where I got it n who from
Hello lovely lady across the Pond! I design and make my own crocheted bunnies, monkeys, unicorns, foxes etc and love it, they make me so happy, although the creative experience is hard it is so very rewarding. Many thanks for another informative episode. Take care 🧶🍁🍂
That's amazing! Do you have a link to your patterns?? I would love to see them! And the design process is definitely much harder than I ever thought it would be but I'm hooked! Lol! ❤💟❤💟
Thank you so much for this video!!! I would love to become an Ami designer but I feel like everything has already been done, and I don't know what I can possibly design that is unique and good. There are just so many great patterns already out there!
That is literally the exact same thing that I said not that long ago. There were already such wonderful patterns out there that I didn't feel like anything I could make would contribute to the amigurumi community. My advice would be to keep making toys that you love and be open to ideas that pop into your head! 🧶🧶🧶
Such fantastic tips Elise!! I learnt heaps from watching this 🤗
@@EliseRoseCrochet lol!! Too kind Elise…it’s always fantastic to pick tips from each other 😁 never an end to learning
@lepetitestcrochet love this so much! I’m so far from being able to make my own patterns but I find it very interesting. ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like the design bug is getting closer!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wowwww it's very useful for me 😊😃
I want to design my own Amigrumis 🤩🤩🤩
I had you in mind as I made the video! Hope the information is helpful! 🍄
@@EliseRoseCrochet Awww you are so sweet 😭😊😊
Yes the information's are useful for me 😃✨
Thankyou so much 😊
I defenatly make my own Amigrumi designs soon 😃😃🤩
Yes, girl, I loved the video, Not Liked. So much great info, the least I can do is give you a thumbs up/Like!!☺️☺️😊😍
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thankyou for all the great information you provided, I've learned a lot from you and TL Yarns channels!
ive only written and completed one pattern , but it still needs some tweaking 😅it was a sims 4 octopus but it was designed almost a year ago. cant wait to watch this !!
Hi Elise! In one of your videos you talk about a colour palette planner app. Can you help me with the name, please?
Can’t wait for the wolf!!
@@EliseRoseCrochet my piggies give me such a happy feeling 🥰 I love the nice way the Lanaloft wool makes them feel. Keep up the good work👍🏼🤶🏼
Another enjoyable video - even though I have no interest in designing a pattern! I do have a question, though. Do you have to do something special to copyright your designs or are they automatically protected?
You need to state they are copyrighted in words. You can go through a more formal process for copyrighting something, but I don't think it would be feasible for small things like patterns. But I'm not an expert on all the legalities! ❤️
I wish I was creative enough to write my own patterns! I just have to crochet other peoples creativity.
That's how I felt for a very long time. I didn't have anything original to share and I was completely happy with it. Then when the idea for the pigs and other characters came flooding into my brain I wanted to get them made. You never know when the inspiration will strike! 🍄
I like the bears head. It's unique and if I'm to be honest... I like your little piggies... buuuuuut, I'd probably buy your armless alien bear over the pig. But I'm weird like that. LOL
1:06 I’m just watching this cuz I think it’ll be interesting. I don’t know how to read patterns of any kind
There are a lot of tutorials for how to read a crochet pattern! It really isn't too difficult. 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet yeah I’m gonna learn lol there’s def lots of videos about it. Patterns still seem confusing but 🤷♂️ it’ll def help lol
HELP. I need the pattern for the brown dog that she refers to when talking about stuffing
Hmmmm, can you let me know the time time stamp for the pattern and I can help you out! 🐶
Do you know of any websites like stitchfiddle? For magic ring?🙌
I'm not sure but I did a tutorial for the magic ring and a lot of people have told me that it's the only tutorial that finally helped them learn how to make it: czcams.com/video/_kNmfwrxJ2g/video.html Hope that helps! ❤️
@@EliseRoseCrochet oh i know how to make a magic ring (i’m no expert but i understand it😊).
I want to make a tapestry with a design, a drawing. Stitchfiddle has always helped me for that stuff bc you upload the drawing and it tells you how many stitches you have to make and where to change color. But this time I want to make a circular tapestry and Stitchfiddle (as far as i know) only goes left to right or corner to corner, it doesnt do magic rings so I’m a little bit lost there😅
Sorry correction the beginning of that was meant to say finding you on CZcams not needing
I can look at amigurumi and crochet them without a pattern but I wanna create my own. My brain is simply blank. I'm almost the opposite of you lol. I'm interested in getting into book character amigurumi designs.
Ps. I love your color schemes
Good luck on your new adventure!! And book characters sound amazing amigurumi patterns!! 💖
I have a problem with just making things without writing down the pattern
This makes me regret having deleted the pattern I made for a grey fox I created then decided I didn't actually like that much...
I have done the same thing. Now I know to hold onto them because I may like them or rework the pattern into something new! ❤️❤️❤️
Y’all here are able to do AMIGURUMI I’m sitting here unable to do a MAGIC CIRCLE. BECAUSE I KEEP MAKING A PRETZEL???
It really is the hardest part about making amigurumi. Don't give up!! ❤️❤️❤️ Here's a tutorial I made for how I make a magic ring: czcams.com/video/_kNmfwrxJ2g/video.html 🧶
I love alien bear! I would totally make him. He’s so fashionable and cute!
Haha!! Thank you!! I think if head had been just a little bit smaller I would have liked him! 👽🐻
