Farmers, along with fishermen, are one of the most underrated and not well-recognized workers out there. Despite that, they should be well-respected. If it weren't for them, you won't have food in your fridge right now. I truly salute them for their hardwork, especially at these times.
In Japan, agriculture is considered very important, farmers are respected, and the government ensures they are well paid. That's why Japanese imported products are so expensive overseas. But often, they are of better quality than many other imports.
I know right!? Her dad actually considered Keiichi's feelings in the matter and even recognized his character for stepping up for the arrangement. Meanwhile, his parents basically ask him to give up his future prospects to work the farm and then essentially marry him off for their own gain.
My grandfather was raised on a farm. He would have made Keiichi's father really hurt for doing what he did if he was still alive. Also, there are bugs that you should absolutely be worried about getting into your crops if you're a farmer. Certain species of caterpillar, potato bug, aphids, tomato bugs, etc, these insects can turn a years worth of work into nothing if you let them go unchecked.
I've seen cabbage moths absolutely annihilate my cauliflower, but is there a happy medium between keeping bugs away and not spraying my vegetables with toxic pesticides?
That is a main reason why a farmer inspects he's crops cause those kind of vermin spread so many in just days if left unchecked and there's even a chance that the bugs won't go away even there is no crops anymore and would result the farmer to take measurements that can harm the soil this is why being a farmer is not easy as you think it is so please respect them
Normal parents: "Let's sell the farm to ensure our son finishes college and graduates." (Because having a college degree is a big deal in Japan) Keiichi's parents: "Keiichi, drop out of college so that we can pay the bills and continue owning the farm." That was a red flag. And then... "Hey, have an arranged marriage with Yui, we'll be able to pay off our debts!" Wait, what? Then there was no need for Keiichi to drop out of college in the first place? Furthermore, the machine is broken, they can only cover 1/5 of the land...what's the point? Might as well sell off the farm. Also, it was kind of suspicious that the parents never showed up to help. Sure, the dad hurt his back, but what about the mom? Did they seriously just...stay at home and do nothing? In the end, it turns out that it was Keiichi's grandfather who funded his college education, and the parents were just greedy. What the hell...
Grandfather might've felt like he had made Keiichi suffer with bad parents, so he'd "make it right" by paying for his tuition... sadly, the parents just saw having a kid as an investment they could fast-track.
One of the more wholesome stories that's well rounded in a way, but has a certain amount of cringe aspects to it... Keichi basically begged to drop out of college and take over the family farm, showing a certain lack of thought and naivety. The sudden arranged marriage, which stank of something foul to begin with since Keichi and Yui had never met before. Thankfully Keichi called that on the spot and Yui's father, though late to the party, understood the lack of synergy. The growth between the two during their time together, with the aid of Yui's father showing his daughter how he's not afraid to get his hands dirty. The EPIC reveal of the parents true colors, which almost ruined everything, but Keichi stepped up saying, "I'm done with you, I don't know you, and I run the farm since you can't work it anyway." (Paraphrased) Yui standing beside him, making their bond even stronger and Yui's Dad being supportive of their decision. This is one of those stories where you should definitely take a lesson or two away from it. What did you take away from it? Good story, decent VA's (I honestly like other VA's, but these weren't bad). Looking out for more like this. Good work.
1. Sometimes your parents don't always have your best interests at heart 2. We all need good support systems to keep us on the straight and narrow 3. Farmers are not respected enough.
Bruhh.. wth his parent thinking? Even they somehow make trouble debt outofnowhere and attempt reversing back to square one by cancelling marriage. At least, her father got listened to keiichi word, though.
Some stories really aren’t researched well. Yes, farmers in undeveloped/underdeveloped countries often are run by families lacking formal education and poor. But for so called “first world” countries farms are big business. If your family still owns a farm you’re not “poor”. Here in the states a combine itself cost more than $300,000. If you can afford one or don’t want to invest there are companies that will rent one to you. What I am saying there are huge losses and profits and not for the faint of heart. I’m sure in a developed country like Japan it’s similar. I worked for John Deere then Cat talking to retailers all over the world. People involved in farming study for it, not just in the US, but places like Japan.
The stories is more like the game called harvest moon here, when someone who take over his grandpa's farm, and get along well with communities, and also get married then build a family here, nice one
Rotate the fifth, change what crops grow so the soil can regain lost nutrients, there is a lot to be done to make a patch of land be viable for future farming.

The parents logic is really short sighted. First off, they are in debt, have broken machinery that costly to repair, and are only operating the farm at 20%. This would mean that they are in great need of money to pay off the debt, fix the farming equipment, and get the farm up to normal operations (as they are probably only bringing in only 20% of the profits of previous years). But instead they thought just getting their son to marry a daughter from a rich family will solve all the problems because they would then get the CEO's money somehow. A plan like that would only work if there was a written contract where the CEO will provide them money after the marriage was signed or by begging the daughter to get them some cash from her father. So, why be hostile to Yui before the marriage license was even signed just because you want some money right now. If the marriage doesn't go through they don't get any chance at her family's money so it was very short sighted of them to begin the badgering for money before the wedding was even planned. All of their actions just made it easier for the son to ignore his parents, resulting in no money to pay off the extra debts they got into with their spending spree.
