- In February 2018, a small church in Pennsylvania gained international attention when they held a blessing ceremony with AR-15's just two weeks after the Parkland School shooting triggered mass gun reform debates across the US. But where did this small fringe sect of Christianity come from and why are they now taking up arms for God? In this episode of Believers, host Charlet Duboc meets Pastor Sean Moon and the believers of the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary, a church that has origins in Korea, is based in the US, and has been accused of being a cult to understand why they believe they need guns to build God's Kingdom on Earth.

Most Churches use those funds to help the homelessness, community events, societal issues, youth group, helping the youth and lower class, etc. The Churches that don't are corrupt and phonies. Also, why don't you talk about the tax cuts,bailout, money laundering, stimulus that big corps get? The purpose of Churches is to help society and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Big corps are corrupt and don't give back to the community instead they exploit people and use the human psyche/nature for their own benefit. That's why people are more materialistic than before, because it profits big corps that want consumers.

When Jesus was about to be arrested (and executed) by a tyrannical and unfair group of people and government, one of his loyal followers took a sword and sliced off one of the arresting guards’ ears.

If Jesus lived out the values of the church, he would’ve mowed the soldiers down, and certainly his disciples would’ve followed suit. Irregardless of whether this religious group is violent or not, it’s clear that they pay more attention to their legal and second amendment protected hobby and charismatic leader than biblical text. Read the Bible for yourself (the whole thing, not cherry picked pieces) and you will see the same.

Which Bible? There are many, most of which surviving texts in "the new testament" and the gospels are known corruptions of the original texts.. These gospels were all put together specifically in a non-chronological order. This whole theology was the result of the council of Nicea in Rome. They stole the true Jewish Hebrew Bible and tacked on their own corrupted and contradictory few pages on the end of it, called it the new testament. It's erroneous and corrupted. It also has become a political and legal joke. It's a fairy tale.. forgiveness of sins.. Please....

I miss the days where I thought people like this we're crazy. I have a easier time understanding people that are trying to build a community outside of modern society then I do with people continuing to just zig zag and adjust to the craziness going on in American leadership and society. So many of us feel lost these days and some of those lost people will be desperate enough to start following someone who isn't lost. Has purpose. No, the bible part is actually true. I'm American and I grew up in a similar cult (Jehovah's Witness). Many people are actually drawn to them due to the scripture charged sermons. In reality, most of the "bible reading" was just cherry picking verses that one could use to make your arguments seem like they are from god, as atrocious as they were (I'm sure most people know about their rejection of life saving treatment, shunning policies, not letting women pray without covering their heads when around men to show their inferiority, etc). Once I left, I read the Bible for the first time as an adult and looked into different denominations and their biblical base. Now as an atheist I can say with confidence that almost no Christians actually read the bible. Almost every atheist I know is a former Christian who took religion seriously enough to seek deep understanding of it. The same goes for former Muslims/Jews. America is of christian majority so they are easy to pander to by politicians, and from their Puritan beginning they have cared very little for reality.
