  • 1. For the love of God, please listen to this with something that has a dope bass
    2. There's way more than just seven instrument tracks in this song, but I did my best
    3. Sorry about the sheet music visualizer being so small, I wanted to get as much of the video in as possible
    4. Yes, this is the studio recording, not the live version, hence the different trumpet solo at the end (which IMO is actually way better)

Okay so, I've figured out the bass sax part. Basically the bass sax never plays lower than the lowest note (low B-flat). The reason it sounds an octave lower is because the octaves between the tuba and bass sax are so perfectly in tune with each other, that you can hear the octave over tone in the tuba.

As a tenor trombonist and bass trombonist, it requires so much more air than you think, and when you have a bass and a sax such as bari sax or bass sax, it pretty much mimics that sound that a bass trombone makes, so there is no need. In a trombone choir? Yes! But let’s just be real and face the facts: a bass trombone isn’t necessary. Not trying to start any arguments, but that’s just how it is.

The Bass sax, and, in fact, any sax* other than certain Baris (keyed to low A) and really oddball altos (Loomis low-A or Selmer Mark VI Low-A) , can only play down to a low Bb (written). (*J'elle Stainer of Brazil has done some odd extensions.
