Tom Hale | Serving with the American Field Service in WWII

Tom Hale (1924 - 2012) served with the AFS (American Field Service) as an ambulance driver with the British 8th Army in Africa, Italy and Germany. After the Was Tom returned to his sturdies at Harvard and then moved to Martha's Vineyard and established the Martha's Vineyard Shipyard and wrote numerous historical books on boats and navigation. This excerpt was a part of a sermon that he gave at the Unitarian Church in Vineyard Haven in 2008.
