“Why do you charge so much?”
‘Because people keep paying.’
No truer answer on this topic.
“Because people are stupid sheeple”
That simple !
🎯
yup! this!
“Oh yea production cost for each shoe went from $20 to $40, it was really bad. That’s why we marked the price up from $1000 to $2000.”
You do realize you have to pay people to put stuff together. And if there manufactured in Europe that's a lot of money in labor. The reason why things from China and other Asian countries are so cheap is that they pay them cents per hour. Or per unit. They seriously underpay their workers. And if the material that's made is made by people who are also underpaid then it's going to be automatically cheaper.
So TRUE!! 😂😂😂😂
@@darkangel10001000 I can assure you, people in Europe don't get paid very much. Salaries are very low so it's a crap assed excuse.
@@Gemzstone1 for what jobs? Are you talking about unskilled labor? Cuz I can assure you the people putting together shoes by hand aren't unskilled people. If you look at regular trades they get paid a lot once there done their apprenticeship.
@@Gemzstone1 let me out it to you this way. I make beaded jewelry by hand. That means stringing on every bead one by one. The actual material to make the stuff isn't expensive. I'd would put maybe 20 bucks in total to I finished necklace. That necklace takes me 3 hours to start and finish. If I paid my self minimum wage (15 dollars a hour) it would make labor costs 45 bucks. So the end necklace would be 65 dollars. Most people I know won't pay 65 bucks for one of my necklaces.
Now im not sure how long it takes to make one pair of shoes but I can for sure say it takes longer then 3 hours. When you buy a brand new house it's not the materials that cost so much it's the labor to install all that.
2% production cost, 98% margin

It would be cheaper to get a bespoke shoe hand made than buy a designer brand, which is know to be uncomfortable (openly admitted by the designer). I don't care if you buy designer, just don't try and fool others into thinking it is in any way high quality or deserving of the price.

I don't think he is a genius,it's just that people are so dumb
I've heard his men's shoes are exactly the opposite, very comfy, especially as they are, "broken in" after a few wears.
The actual cost is probably only about $150-200. I know this because I work in the high end shoe industry. I have even made shoes by hand.
No, they're expensive because you're paying for the brand, not the actual shoe
I'd rather put that money into supporting crafter and seamstresses to make my clothes. I really can't in good conscience support name brand clothing unless they are made in America and not some sweatshop.
yeah lol this guy bragged about making his shoes uncomfortable. plenty of brands have made shoes that are both comfortable and fashionable so idk why he'd consider underperforming in one aspect a bragging point, saying you're unwilling to do anything about your shortcoming. ig cause walking places is for peasants? idk, elitists are weird. If I'm spending exorbitant amounts on a pair of shoes I'd rather support a smaller creator lol
@@Sandstimes theyre made to be pretty, not prioritizing comfort. Fashion is a form of art
@@percyjackson5417 Fashion is wearable art though so past a certain point of discomfort you’re making a sculpture instead of a shoe
@@percyjackson5417 it is, but these shoes are hardly some one of a kind only see it on a runway and in a museum type of thing, anyone who can afford it can own a pair, there are many of them. treating them like something that isn't meant to be worn makes no sense when you consider that context. Being unable to make a shoe that is meant to be worn feel not painful to wear is a shortcoming, not a bragging point, is my main point. I Know if they put the effort into it they could make it both, and imo if they're charging that much they should be putting that effort in, they can't use the excuse of not having the time or money or resources. If they still don't want to put that effort in they should admit it for what it is, a shortcoming, not make it into a weird elitist talking point. All of this not to mention shoes that look near identical in shape can be more comfortable so we know it's completely possible, people buy the shoes for the red soles and the brand name

AMEN.
You know they make men's shoes too, right?
Only women wear LB shoes?

Alright if anyone wants to know, I looked it up. Getting shoes handmade, on your measurements, costs UP TO 500€, in Italy. Im not sure where louboutins are made, but their shoes go FROM 600€ up. Now, labour in France (where I assume they're made) is slightly more expensive than in Italy, however, these shoes are neither handmade nor made to order (on someone's measurements) therefore we can assume the cost of each pair is MUCH lower than getting a pakr handmade to order (which, again, costs less than 500€). We can easily assume each pair of these shoes costs less than 100€ To make. So, you're paying for the label. Save yourself some money and get someone to make you shoes to your size and paint the sole red yourself 😅
Thanks for researching this!

My daughter took me to a designer shop where they had LB high heeled shoes.
After picking them up and looking at them their quality was no better than the shoes you buy off a shelf.

@@tinygrim No you can see the quality in some luxury items but a lot of these products like the louis vuittons They are basic looking shoes and they are very uncomfortable nothing special about them.
Exactly. You're paying for the brand name, that's about it. Probably cost no more than $50 to make, if that. Then they mark the cost up to the hundreds or thousands. And that goes for ALL of these "luxury" brand names.
They want an exclusive brand, not one everyone can afford. These clientele dropping $2000 is akin to us dropping a whopping $100
Marketing is EVERYTHING!
That employee should get creative royalties for every pair

How??? She painted her nails, HE painted the shoe
It wasn't her idea. She was just sitting there getting paid to paint her nails...
"What makes these shoes worth the cost" The short answer is nothing. They're made with subpar materials but people pay for them because they're branded by a famous designer.
Yeah. We can have custom fit shoes and problably less than the full price of these things. Its more reasonable than these.
@@fixsationon7244 I spent like, maybe $200 on custom-fit shoes once. Not heels or anything, qork shoes with steel toes and such, so definitely no where near what you pay for these designer shoes.
And you can barely walk in them😂
People only want to spend so much on shoes because they want to brag about spending that much but the shoes aren’t always worth a expensive amount. Some of the cheapest priced shoes have lasted me YEARS! It’s like a car…if you take care of your things they will last a long time.
Don't forget the pain. If they were easy to walk in, more people would have them. You not only need money, you need strength and willpower to make it look painless.
People pay an exorbitant amount of money for shoes that 98% of women agree are uncomfortable af. I have yet to see a woman brag about how comfortable these shoes are. It's a status symbol...that's all
Only boots with chunk heels are comfortable to wear but you don't see many luxury designers making those. Probably because of their 30 quid production cost means that in order to cover the cost, they would have to be £3000
I've worn a pair out for a girls night and I can definitely confirm this. That and they had absolutely zero grip on the bottom and it was a hazard walking on even the slightest of slick surfaces. ♿️
The red soles were a status symbol hundreds of years ago...for prostitutes. They made a law in France requiring them to avoid men propositioning married women and maidens.
any high heeled shoe is going to cause damage to the feet and ankles over time, it's a shame people fall for this trap when they're young and don't wake up to the facts til they're older...
Isn't Louis Vuitton the guy that made his shoes purposely miserable to wear because he knew women would still wear them. He basically knew he could get anyone to buy his stuff regardless of whether people actually enjoy them or not
The red wears off! They try and sell you a kit to repaint the red. Dude, if I'm paying $2000 for a pair of shoes, at that cost, you better come to my house and repair them yourself! 😤

Second edit: The video is Nasdaily as most people have said in the comments. And I will mention again it was a Gucci jacket not a shoe but I think the message of the video still stands. People will pay for name or just to brag about the price but in reality the actual price to make the product is way way less than what the brand is selling it for.
Do you have the link or remember the name of the video you watched?

They'd be unique, not over-priced mass products. And on top of that, they'd probably be cheaper, too, even with the person making them being paid above average, because with Louboutin and all those other 'luxury brands' what one pays for is the name, not the quality or the production cost. I'd rather pay for good quality and real craftsmanship.

We had our windows fixed relatively cheap because we just wanted them functional, the man fixing them said they would sometimes charge twice to three times what we paid because the people who lived in richer parts of our town would brag about how much the windows cost. Fixing the windows on that house vs ours wasn't more expensive, the glass they used hadn't magically trippled in price, it was a status symbol plain and simple. For most customers he charged a very reasonable price and for the one's who wanted luxury they would pay luxury. He wasnt cheating hardworking people who were just trying to get windows, he was giving the rich exactly what they wanted- the idea of luxury and the feeding of their ego. That's why the price is so much
Edit- ok so I forgot about this post for a while and things aparently blew up a bit
1. This story happened a while ago and the details I have are fuzzy, so take the events with a grain of salt since it is a secondhand story
2. We were commissioning the guy right at the end of his work season (late fall ish) and we were going to be his company's last job of the year. He wanted to send home his employees with one last check and wasnt worried about skimming a ton of profit off the top.
3. Since he ran a contract style business I believe there was proce negotiation, which meant that he was able to charge flexible prices depending on what the client wanted to spend.
4. Please be nice.
I am in full favour of scamming the rich, especially when it’s due to their own vanity
@@yikes2540 you're in favor of scams? 😒 All seems like an excuse to me.
Smart man
@@yikes2540 me too lmao
That's fraud, you can't change the price for same item based on who you are selling it to. You can only sell them a different item that is perhaps less cost effective (cost alot more but only a little bit better window) or a different item because it has a brand name.
Funny use of the phrase “worth it” lol
"What make those shoes worth the cost?"
Nothing. Literally anything. You can have a beautiful, confortable, long lasting shoe or you can have a Louboutin.
Bravo so true 👍. Never in my life have I owned a more painful shoe brand.. including boots. Jimmy Choo has a comfortable shoe.. they actually know the shape of a woman's foot. Christian never cared.
@@cjwcjw9578 ur experience isn't every woman's experience. Choose may be super uncomfortable for another woman but louboutin are perfect.
Louboutin? 😂😂
The hypothetical question asked was, "what makes the shoes worth the cost?" The answer given was to the question, "what makes them so expensive?" Of course the real answer to the first question is, "NOTHING" and the answer to the second question is, "because people will buy them at these prices."
A good rule of thumb: Regarding profits, never trust a capitalist. Demand to see the numbers.
There are people with more dollars then sense. Enough said .
I've never had a bottle of nail polish that could cover an entire shoe sole .
That's not where red soles come from. They come from French nobility when men use to wear heels. The king of France Louis XIV had custom red bottom shoes made for him and his closest friends, thus making red bottom heels very coveted because it meant you were close to the King. People were willing to do anything to be part of his close circle, even spend ungodly amounts of money. Thus red bottom heels became symbolic of exclusivity and upper class.
I thought it was so they didn't get blood stains on thier shoes. And same for heels
@@HillbillyYEEHAA Heels shoes were originally horse riding shoes invented in Persia. Cowboy boots still have heels for this exact reason. But then became a fashion thing for the nobility in Europe because of course, that's how fashion works. Red bottom heels were invented as stated in my previous comment. I never heard or read anything about blood, even being European and a native French speaker.
Kinda like head bobbing in India.
I guess this is more of a when was the first Red sole shoe made
Yup and an interesting reference/adaption is in the game Lotería from 1769 which has one of the red bottom boots from Italy.
The ending 💀
Red signifies blood of children and people is the real reason.
That sweat shop worker that makes them for you though ain't getting much
Here's a secret from the industry they say they are made in Europe but they aren't 100% made in Europe. Fashion houses will make part of a product in foreign countries for cheap labor so they can cut cost. Then ship it back to Europe and finish the product so they can over price it and people will buy their products. You're mostly paying high prices for the marketing side not the high quality of the item.
I once saw a gadget that says Materials made from this country, assembled in this country
Those are actually made outside Milan in a town called Parabiaggo, and they are actually made in Italy. I work in the high end shoe industry.
Paying for brand
For decades a lot of leather goods have been made in Eastern Europe, then finished in Italy and tagges as Italian. The Chinese opened up factories in Italy to do the same with parts from China.
Red shoe souls have a deep meaning in the "child love" society. Not hard to find
they're expensive because we think they're expensive.
I'm European buying leather shoes manufactured in Europe (Portugal manufacturing to be specific). Most of my shoes cost around 50-60€
They're comfortable and last for years
They're so expensive because it's not just a red color paint. It's blood.
Back in the day it was that he said "Because the red stood for the blood of the slaves" But like always, narratives change.
Someone is awake
@@solangelalebron1348 hold on rly?
@@L3t1t8e that’s quite the rabbit hole..

I wouldn't buy his shoes no mater what. Not even if I won alot of money.
It's ok. There's a bunch of rich ppl already doing it for you.
Right? They're so bloody uncomfortable. I would rather pay money to have bespoke shoes made for me. They'd cost less than the Louboutins, and more importantly, would actually be wearable
I hear they’re very uncomfortable
Amennnnnnnn my friend
He wasn't the first one to think of red soles.
Oh that’s why they make a mark up of 800% now I understand😂
I always find it amazing that people are willing to pay so much money to advertise for a brand!
There’s a shoe repair, place here in the Bronx, where the sun after years of not wanting to get in the shoe business decided to join his father and within a year he can instantly copy any shoe made in the world. He routinely copies and produces some of the worlds, most expensive shoes and he Branson with his name and you cannot tell the difference he’s even come out with some really interesting styles that are better than what the name guys do.
I legit thought this was indicative of the red shoe club
It's called branding. Regardless if his actual costs did go up he still is making 10000 % margins of profit.
They’re expensive because of the branding strategy…I wish it wish the leather in the bottom was dyed and not painted as it’ll still look nice after wearing a few times.
I was SURE Louboutin simply copied the fact that ALL of the shoes that French king Louis XIV had red soles; I believe Louis XV as well.
I’m happy to announce I’m a proud owner of absolutely ZERO Louboutins.
I hope that lady did not lose her job and got compensated. it's only fair and the nice thing to do.
Luxury brands serve to distinguish those who have the money and those who don't. A status symbol of sorts. It's like how owning a car or a house is a status symbol. If you wanted cheap shoes, there are other brands. Basically, you're buying the status.
Those who actually have money don't wear brands.
And I am still wearing my $6.99 tennis shoes that I got 10 years ago.
Hahah knew it was B's when said competition from asia
Maybe some of their expense comes from employees sitting around painting their nails?
They will always find a reason to keep prices up.
