Darn I was so looking forward to what it would have looked like with magnet 3d effect!
For cat's eye effect you'd need to cure the first coat as is. Paint a second coat in the same manner and, then, use the magnet. Without the first layer of the magnetic gels, you'd lose most of the colors and the tie dye design.

W. O. W.!!! I just chanced upon your channel after watching a tutorial by “Ten Little Canvasses”, and I’m literally ecstatic that I did so. I’m currently starting to binge watch your tutorials and I’m so loving what I’m seeing so far! You explain your process so succinctly in a way that a totally uncreative person like myself is able to pick up and actually attempt the techniques (and blowing my mind completely 😮), and actually have a modicum of success upon doing so!!! Thank you so much for that. I love doing nail art despite being rubbish at it, and so even though I botch up almost every single time. I still come back and keep doing more! I’m a glutton for punishment, I know! 😂
But watching you so far has helped me get at least a little better at doing some things like the one above that you demonstrated here. I didn’t use as many polishes as you did here, just two of them, but am so pleased with my results on my much smaller nail bed and also my much, much shorter nail. I had to be super careful with not letting the polish touch my skin, and even with a latex barrier in place, I had to use alcohol and a clean up brush to remove the gel polish where it came into contact with my skin.

I know this is an old video but this is GORGEOUSSSSS!!! I'm doing my nails right now with the born pretty 9d cats eye gel pots and they didn't come with any magnets so I ordered a pack and they SUCK! I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME figure out how to do ANY designs and I've watched TONS of videos so maybe I'll just use them like this because they are stunning colors and honestly besides making some pretty cool designs like the "black hole" one (if you can manage it) I don't think the magnets make much of a difference when it comes to actually changing the color of the polish. I have a couple of questions, if you could help...So I just bought my first Cats Eyes Gel Polishes...Its Beetles Milky Way Collection.
I don’t have ANY instructions with it, lol, and there is ONLY 1 video on YT of this particular collection. Do I put a base coat first?! Like with all polishes, you add the clear base...and if you do, is it to be cured, the add the black...and, Do I cure the black before adding the magnetic polish to it?! I have watched a few videos, mostly yours, but some cute the black, some don’t, but I don’t recall anyone ever saying if you add a clear base coat, or not. Thanks for your AMAZING videos. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hiya! Normally with any gel polish there will be a clear base coat of some kind, then 1 coat of black and 2 coats of cats eye polish, finished with a topcoat :) all these will need to be cured in between coats and the amount of time cured for will depend on the brand of gel polish and the lamp you're using :) hope that all makes sense! X
You need to buy a base and top coat. They don't come in the set.
Put on base coat. Cure
Put on black colour. Cure.
I find I need a second coat of black. Cure
Use colour. 322 and 320 are cats eyes. Cure.
Add second layer of colour. Use the magnet BEFORE you cure this layer
Once you are happy with design... quickly get under lamp and cure
Put on top coat. Cure.
Done.
What would happen if you used a magnet on after pulling through with your brush and then curing?
You would loose the line detailing with a magnet :( xx

Quick question, I know you didn't use the magnets in this design but I'm looking for some help. When I have tried the cat eye effect or any effect really with the magnets they don't seem to move the flake much. Are the magnets too weak or am I doing something else wrong ??
Try holding the magnet as close as possible to the nail without touching ☺️ x
