Studying to become a Counsellor/Psychologist, I cant tell you how helpful these podcasts are at broadening my understanding on so many different walks of life and deepened my understanding on how people behave. I wouldn't be on the path I'm on if it weren't for your podcasts, many times temptation creeps in but I see people like yourself and the guests you have on and its really empowering , keep up the good work ma man!

I saw the discrimination against my Irish father by the police in the late 70s/ 80s so I can totally relate to what this guy is saying ...the police were kidnapping my dad's friends in London and forcing then to admit to things they hadn't done ...they had a thing called ' verballing' where they wrote out the statements and then forced the men to sign them .
When my dad came here in the late 60s there were signs that said mmm no blacks , Irish and no dogs ' ....so I do have family experience of what went on .

Brilliant interview with a lot of perspectives. It's surprising the wisdom we pick up. While we're older,,, I struggled. In my younger years with addiction. And getting involved with people. Who did commit crimes. Even as a female I ended up. Selling heroin to maintain my own addiction. Now 6 years clean my old life. Seems a life time ago. Im a ecstatic Grandma of 5 Grandchildren soon. To be 6 at nearly the end of the year. I would absolutely anything in my power to avoid it. Unfortunately my oldest son has from the age of 16. Spent most of his life behind bars. Hopefully though when he gets out. I'm really going to sit him down. And I'm going to repeat the words. That his mum said to him. As we've nearly always been dragged into his situation. And now my life is settled and happy. I feel I can no longer support him. As basically because ive decided. That this situation is not good for my Grandchildren.

@@bootedabdrooted for a long time I suppose that. My life wasn't the best role model for my son. I was like your mum a single parent. Bringing him up and especially the last time. When he finally got released he was back in. A family environment which he loves. But my son doesn't seem to hold the same respect you had for your mother. Maybe if I had lead a more settled life. Although back when he first went into yo. I wasn't taking any drugs. Although I had plenty of people in my life. Some of them had been to jail. And when he was younger. They used to warn him about ending up in jail. I don't know if that encouraged him more. Next year when he's released he'll be 29 . I just hope for his sake that. He's grown up and realises that the so called Gangster life he wants to lead doesn't work for him. As he's a useless criminal and always gets caught. And Thanks for the reply I really wasn't expecting it. You really are a really decent fella
