Wow I made it pretty early in the comments for once, can't wait to try and get a spot at one of the events for the hella shotty newer VW rabbit that myself and some other student Veterans are currently building. We seem to drink more beer than accomplish anything else so we might make it in 2021!
some local guys here in omaha (myself included) are in the planning stages of a shitty vw as well (since we all love em and have gobs of parts laying around). hopefully hit chicagoland or denver once we get it done-ish

Get on the lemons forum. There are usually teams everywhere looking for wrenches and drivers. If not currently, post that youre looking for a team. Probably one close, thats how I got hooked up with a team.
