HAWAII of the PHILIPPINES!!! (Mararison Island, Antique Travel Guide)

- Traveled from Roxas City to visit the best island of Antique - The Mararison Island! It is said that it's like the Hawaii of the Philippines because it's overlooking the tallest mountain of Panay which is Mount Madjaas.
From Culasi Port, you can ride a boat to Mararison island for only 15 minutes. In the summer season, they said that the hills resembles Batanes, Philippines. During the rainy season, however, it can look like the beautiful mountains of Hawaii.
How to go to Mararison Island:
From Kalibo or Caticlan, ride a bus to Culasi, travel time is about two hours and the fare is around Php 110-150 ( USD 2-3). At Culasi Port, boat can be hired for Php 800- 1,000 (good for five PAX, round trip).
Homestays are available on the island which would be around Php 200-300 (USD 4-6) per person a night.

Well, there's no such thing as a "Hawaii of the Philippines."
It's more like the Philippines IS Hawaii.
That is, a Hawaii where the Kanaka Maoli are in charge.
Truly indigenous Hawaiians mostly don't care about the golf courses, hotels, and other developments that just benefit wealthy Haole, anyway. Some would rather live in shacks if it means getting their land back, certainly better than sleeping in tents on Oahu streets.
That is one thing Filipinos can be glad about their country. That said, congrats to Kanaka people who got a piece of land in Waimanalo(?) where they can farm in the traditional way. May they get more of their islands back.
My Family is from Culasi, Antique, REPRESENT! And one of our family members migrated to Hawaii back in the day, 1900s plantation days, wonder if he ended up in Hawaii because it reminded him of the view of Mount Madjaas. I too now live here in Honolulu and I work in Kaneohe but I see that. The view of from Mararison to Mt Madjaas has a similar amazing feeling as when I look up to the Koolau Mountains on the Windward side of Oahu. Great video, looks like you all enjoyed Mararison! How antiqueno can i be! I played tumba patis, ate bangkiling, sineguelas, kamunsil, kag bindong gandas (my favorite) . Rode 76express, antique bus line, rj yap express, and the likes. Rode the caraboa backride, played kalo kalo bihon, pushed the karo during holy week, also ate patuten and nila- ga, kag turagsoy. Used sinamak for almost everything and drunk tuba every afternoon...... Hmmmmm anything more....
