I have this drone and I use it to train my daughter to fly with it. She can get used to flying drones, does not need to register and/or get a license (The Netherlands). We only have to register the drone itself because it has a camera! Stupid law and it is only there to steal money out of your pocket. The camera connection issues during long distance are most of the time caused by other devices near you that use 2.4 GHz. Make sure that no other wireless devices are near you and/or the controller. Try it again. And yes, this drone has a very good distance for the money. Last but not least, this kind of video is perfect. It gives new users who are new to drones all the information they need to start flying. This video answers one of the most asked questions, how far can it get! Great Job. I just bought one $160 bucks. ,Yagi slip on antenae will help. Quite a bit. 400 feet up makes a difference.

A really interesting little town to look at. The priority RC channel makes all the difference for signal strength. I had to update to a drone with a proprietary radio channel because of the poor reception of the control and video signal. I would never go back to the old WiFi because it has too much interference at distance. Brilliant hilltop footage. Thanks.
3.3km.. wow! And 2.7km in the second is not bad in spite of much wifi over houses. It would be a decent quad with 3 axis gimbal. Great range test!👍👍👍

This is plenty good for security.. the new atom is better. And 3 axis gim.. but for the price. This would do the job. Im not worried about a bit of tilt or whatnot

Man this smart returns are never that smart but the first time is recomended to not risk it but next time you can cancel the return and try the 4km because you arrived with 50% battery!

First flight ,from your screen / 3.342 Meters = 10.964 Feet = 2.076 Miles . Thats awsome for a budget drone . i have only taken my atom se to half of that and i dont dought that it would do the same ! you chose the perfect locations for the test flights !!!!!

On the second test could it possibly be that you were in a heavy urban area despite the height, there would be a lot of 2.4g signal which might be a issue
Very coollittle drone. 2 and a half miles is a very good result. You can never get a good range test over civilization with all its radio, tv, cell phone waves, they do a great job at blocking your signal

Probably. However, the maximum height the quad will fly is 120m.
There could have been microwave interference or WiFi or power lines can cause problems as well . Neat view of the mountains though and man is it dry . I'm waiting for my POTENSIC ATOM SE so I've been checking a few reviews your. is one of many Cheers Mate👍👍👍😎💨🏴☠☮☮☕☕💡

Nice! But it did start breaking up at 1700m pretty consistently. Not as much on the way back for some reason. Just bought a used one of these for $180 after tax/shipping. Seemed like a hell of a deal.. Just hope it works good!

That was a great test. Even though you were flying over neighborhoods and whatnot, you were pretty high up, I'm surprised that there was that much interference with the signal.
Thanks! Well, I'm not sure why. I don't know if it was interference or if it was just that I was too high up with the signal not directed at the quadcopter. The first location had mountains on both sides to act as sort of a parabolic dish so it helped with the signal? Maybe? But definitely, I was high up enough to evade any interference on the second flight. I've flown over homes before without anything like this.

Potensic is getting better Dave :) And actual 30 minute flight time battery.
Does the density of radio waves interfere? Just thinking that your first flight was in the middle of nowhere.
Other than the lack of a mechanical gimbal this is a great drone. Compared to many of the budget models, they seem to have it very dialed in and worked out the bugs that so many others have. If the new ATOM works this well with the added gimbal it should be a real winner if they keep the cost down.

Do you fly with fpv goggles or do you fly with a control phone mount with a hood. Also I noticed your SD card was not available. On the second trip you may be getting radio interference from some of those houses
I'm flying it with the phone on the remote. SD card was not needed since it will not show the lag or the interference like the app screen record. It is just the interference from houses.

That new potensic atom drone may be released after the decision with the Drone Remote ID decision. If not we'll have to upgrade the drones ourselves regardless of 250g sub drones 😔
Hey, great review. I'm loving mine so far. Quick question Do you know what's the return home altitud? Can it be modified to be higher due to obstacles?
It's default to 30m. Can be raised while in RTH assuming you haven't lost remote connection. I've yet to find a way to change the default
I got the same drone but it goes only 600m so what dk i do? the settings are maxed out do i have to go to a bigger park so it can go further
Some people have issues with iphones and certain wireless mics. Try putting your phone in airplane mode. There seems to be issues with that in quite a few phones as well. Let us know if that works.

Thanks! Yes, unfortunately it is not proportional to the level of input so it just has one speed up and down. No way to finely control the speed. Hope the Atom which will have a three axis gimbal do better at smoothing out the ratcheting effect or make it proportional.

Just a good class 10 fast 256G should work. $20 on amazon. I put a Samsung in mine last night.
How did you get it to go out that far? Mine will only go ~30m with beginer mode turned off.
when the controler and drone are connected, open the options and check the settings for the flight fence, it will be set to 30m by default and you can change it there (just got mine a few days ago)

I love the video, but it kills me that you didn't just raise it to its highest height in the second video to see if you could rise above the cloud of Wi-Fi interference from the neighborhoods...
I was already at about 132meters from the ground where the home and thus the wifi interferences are at. Remember I took off from the hilltop which is about 80meters high up but on the app it registers as zero and went up to 52meters and the highest a consumer drone can fly is 120meters.
So, I should have gotten better results at the 80meter high hilltop but did not.
Perhaps the theory that the parabolic dish landscape at the valley where I was at was better for rc signal even though I was up only 57meters than the hilltop site since the sides of the hilltop would reflect the signal coming back from the drone since I'm at the top of the hill, kind of like the concave and convex analogy.
The sjrc f22s did basically the same thing.

Yes, most all drones now come with a 120meters height limit. In The second video, the drone took off from an 80 meter high hilltop so it actually went more than 120meters from the homes down below.

Nope. I own one and I can tell you this is a damn good drone! I mean you're not going to fly 3 miles with it, but it's solid in every way except for the gimbless camera. It's very, very reliable. If I lose signal and it's a mile or two away, I know it's coming back. I'll just go sit down and have a beer and wait... I've owned this drone since 2 weeks after it was released, I've never owned a Potensic before, never even paid attention to them before this point, yet I'm very pleased.
