Yeah it's more of a cultural thing, Tonga is just a tight knit nation. It became more personal when the big guns like Taumalolo and Fifita sacrificed so the least we Tongans could do was support

I actually dont mind the fact Australia lost. Winning all the time is BS. I want a competitive international competition and the fact Tonga is on par with England and NZ is unreal. Aus is still a couple steps in front and will win most of the time but hopefully the other three can tale another step forward with their consistency and we might actually have interesting games where it’s not a shock that we lost.

His answer shows alot of knowledge outside the game and how he really does care for and understand young Pacific islander youths in regards to footy. He answer also shows how he understands the cultural importance of footy to young islanders and their families. J Gus yeah it’s a hard thing to get right. Aussies took a pay cut last year to play us and that was beautiful to see. It may not seem like a big thing because they earn a lot but league these days is so fast and tough that injuries could force you to retire. Just look at the players who have retired over the off season. In saying that the pay differences in Rugby are even worse.

The last team to beat Australia before Tonga outside of New Zealand and Great Britain/England was France in 1978. The team that came close was the Americans in 2004.
France were a powerhouse at one stage

Nope. There are spectators who sing the anthem in all footie codes, and then get on the racial abuse during the game, or go home after a loss and beat their missus. It doesn't define your personal take on what constitutes the best of our nation.
El Rey Yes, some minorities do that. They I agree are disgraces to the country. However I do not agree that not singing the national anthem is not a terrible thing. It is, if you don’t respect who you are playing for you realistically won’t perform at your highest level. Latrell was one of the worst players on the pitch, one of the people who doesn’t sing the anthem. Simply I believe if you don’t sing it you don’t respect the country that made you who you are. You don’t play as a result.

The imple fact is Tonga have an awesome middle forwards rotation: Taumalolo, Taukeiaho, Fonua-Blake, Fifita, Pangai Junior, etc and the kangaroos lost the motivation to keep running into them. I know this without having even watched the full match, because it is predictable - who would want to run into those guys all night?
Just give credit where credit is due boys, Tonga played so well that they pressured Aus into mistakes and they couldn’t really get in to the game I. The 2nd half. All of the Tongan players are firm in the heart of any rugby league fan. Some play for our favourite club, some are a threat when they play against our clubs, but everybody has our respect. This is nothing but good for rugby league. Win lose or draw, I look forward to our next game against Tonga, as the spectacle of the game is as important as the result. This game was an mmense joy for all Tongans, some Australians said they wanted Tonga to win, Thank you Aussies for showing how much you appreciate the tremendous effort by the Tonga (little nation) team and also having a heartfelt desire for the Tonga team to reach another level in the international rugby league competition. Tongan fans also singing Aussies national anthem at the game, salute to all Aussies!

You have *ELEVEN* World Cups, the closest to that is Great Britain with *three* , this is way to show that the game is growing and changing, they played well but turned off at CRUCIAL points. I think it is funny how fittler and johns made a point saying how the Aussie team was dominated by NSW players and that is exactly what we seen in the game a lot of one out running and no respect for their opposition, that sort of play we seen in the state of origin for many years that QLD dominated.
