  • Truck and pup fixing beach access sunk and spun drive line off rear yoke . Fully loaded I could only move them about 4 inches before the front of my truck came off the ground . I parked my truck as close to the hard pack on the approach as I didn't want to get back in the newly graded sand . After first attempt I went back and had them dig out all the truck and pup tires and it winched right out .

    When I was about 6 a neighbor farmer got his tractor stuck in a field. They used one of those types of ropes that stretch as you pull on them. They tried pulling the tractor out from behind and the rope snapped and instantly killed the guy inside the cab of the stuck tractor. From what we were told, of which I will spare you all the details the scene was gory. We never ever used those stretch ropes on our farm. It was on the local news minus the gory details. The tractor was still there in the field for several days if not a week before it was finally moved. So YES it's good to stay away from that cable you use on your wrecker.

      Boyd W I always wonder about the sadety of having the controls right at the back of the wrecker wih no protection for the operator.

    • @rondyechannel1399
      @rondyechannel1399 Před 7 lety +12

      Laying blankets over the cable will greatly reduce the velocity if it breaks. Even a coat helps. I cringe when I see this operator handling that wire rope (cable) with his bare hands. They always have slivered strands that can leave a nasty gash, besides they are greasy!

    • @lookalikafish
      @lookalikafish Před 7 lety +6

      Ropes are meant to be used in certain situation like sand or snow. The stretch helps then but for pulling heavy equipment always use a cable with proper load rating. Even then when I use a rope I and the person in the other vehicle duck down just in case.
      As for the other comments yes I agree there should be more protection for the operator at the controls and I agree about the cable and stuff but this operator (George) has more experience than we can fathom. He is old school and may do things a little on the sketchy side but he knows how to get the job done and I have never seen him have a problem. He knows when to duck LOL

    • @0xsergy
      @0xsergy Před 5 lety

      He's probably pretty safe. The cable will want to go straight me thinks so the front of the other truck and the back of his is the main impact site. Obviously there's the random chance it flings off but still, only so much you can do.

    What does stucker mean?? I looked it up in the dictionary and couldn't find it,i then searched online for the word but no such word was to be found,i did find one website that states it could be the definition of an idiot trying to describe something being stuck in or on something,possibly American terminology.

      DeWib,
      Next time, use a bigglier dictionary. The USA is the originator of every cool, farout, and groovy word there is.
