    • @StusReviewsUK
      @StusReviewsUK Před 4 měsíci +1

      What do you mean? It literally wires up in the place of your existing lights... like i mentioned.... and your existing lights work with your wall switch, which means anything wired up to the same cables will also work on the wall switch 👀
      Maybe i should have spelled that out a bit clearer 👀. Incidentally, when turning it off at the switch, you can set it to either reset back to a default setting or keep its last known colour set.

    • @Jakdaw
      @Jakdaw Před 4 měsíci

      @@StusReviewsUKRubbish! Just putting the switch in line with it's power supply is not an acceptable solution - no-one wants to be left with "smart" light that can be left "off" or "really off"; that's useless. Even the sonoff mini type stuff that's been around for years would keep itself powered 24/7 and provide an input to wire through your existing switch(es) so that the smart functionality can be used seamlessly alongside the existing light switches.

    • @StusReviewsUK
      @StusReviewsUK Před 4 měsíci +1

      Surely thats down to your switch though, and not the product? The product can only do what the live cables allow it to do - and if those are hard shutoff by the switch, then surely you'd need to replace the switch for a smart switch that has an off (but not really) setting?

    Why.. why.. WHY, would they not include a switched input! Most UK lighting ceiling roses have a permanent live and switched live. If they provided a switched live input we would not need to bodge our wall switches to accommodate this. We could have switch input whist allowing it to also have app control via the permanent live. Infuriating!

    • @StusReviewsUK
      @StusReviewsUK Před 4 měsíci +1

      Can you explain what you mean as if i was 3 years old? The cables themselves are always live right, unless turned off at the wall switch, which then stops all power to the light... and thats where my understanding of this stops. Whats the bodging of the wall switches? Surely if you wanted 'off but not really off', thats the responsibility of the wall switch and not the ceiling light? 👁👄👁 (I did say electrics arent my strong point).

    • @charleswheatcroft
      @charleswheatcroft Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@StusReviewsUK I think it works on the basis that the switch is always live. When you switch it off you break the live to the light so the light is dead until you turn the switch back on. So, if you leave your light off there is no automation.
      My main problem would be what happens when the light switch is switched on? I had an x10 module wired in some years ago which could only toggle when the switch was back on. This meant that at times the light switch could restore power but the light remained off until you sent an x10 command to turn the light on. Quite frustrating.
      The problem is due to our typical lighting circuits and the solution is to add new light switches as you've described elsewhere which act as a 'toggle' rather than an 'on/off'. This adds cost though which is a smack in the mouth if you pay £150 for a light!

    • @marcfuller7531
      @marcfuller7531 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@StusReviewsUK So most ceiling roses has a permanent feed wire coming into it. A feed wire going out of it to the next light and a switch. This send live to the wall switch and back to the rose again.
      Because this unit only have Live, Neutral and Earth inputs you have to make a choice. Wire it permanently on using the permanently live feed, or wire it via the switched live. Both have pro's and cons.
      Permanent live wiring means the wall switch no longer works. You have to turn it on or off via the app. Anyone that doesn't have the app, or doesn't care for automation cannot turn the light on/off by a physical button.
      Switched live wiring means if you leave the room and flick the switch.. great the light goes off but the app is now useless until someone physically switches it back on at the wall switch.. therefore no automations. You've cut power to the light and it will no longer respond.
      Many home automation modules will use the permanent feed to get the home automation module alive all the time, but will accept a switched live also, so it know when someone wants to just turn it on or off again without disabling the device.
      It's been a problem for many home automation people for many years. Just ask Paul Hibbert about Neesha's instance on switching things off at the wall switch!

    A hard pass from me. Price is bot an issue. I'd expect to pay that for a quality non-smart light fixture. It's far too big, IMO unattractive and, sorry to say it but it looks really out of place between your beams.
    I also read/heard from multiple sources, that the halo ring effects are not available in other ecosystems, just the colours, which diminishes it's usefulness for notifications massively.
