As an England Fan this feels like an uno reverse card. Wales historically are a team that persist well despite so much pressure and losing in many points behind their opposing team. This time though England (although we made mistakes with Chessum and Ford) were fumbling with the ball under a lot of pressure, and we still came on top (albeit only slightly). Great respect to both teams, can't wait for the game against Scotland next week.
Historically, Wales have more Six Nations titles and Five Nations titles than any other nation, including 4 grand slams and 2 championships since 2005.
Wales also have a strong World Cup history, having played in 3 semi finals in 10 world cups. Wales also famously beat England in the 2015 World Cup.
Hence, this narrative that Wales continue to play despite being many points behind is historically inaccurate. Yes - this new Welsh team scored 26 unanswered points against Scotland. But this isn’t the typical way.
Historically, you are correct. I am referring more to recent games like the Scotland game and the six nations 2022 game between Wales and England. You are right when it comes to wins. Wales and England are at the top of the Six Nations.
@@lukelado5324ot on. The saes always skew things to suite their own bias narrative.
Scotland next week? 🤔
@Adam-zq5rw Yep, I know it's unlikely we'll win, I just want to see a great game. Sometimes, a loss after playing well is better than a win after playing shit.
Ben earl really said fine il do it myself 😂
Great try hope he does good this year he looks like a world class8
What was the Welsh scrumhalf doing?. He was more interested in giving his backs instructions , than watching what was happening with England's scrum feed. First rule of rugby is , Never take your eyes off of the play
Cheers Patrick , coach of the year 2024

I was there, great atmosphere in the stands.
Good win for England in a match dominated by odd incidents. The charge down on Fords conversion sums it up but I’m happy with the win.
This ref should no be allowed to ref at this level
Referee was very good today. England are just used to getting away with everything.
not poor refereeing, but SAD refereeing, not in the spirit of the game

Yeah was way too harsh to England, atleast they got the deserved win.

He was penalized for a reckless tackle, if you must know. Refs got it right.

Hard fought win for England and Wales played well too, could of gone either way.
Referees still play a huge role in the outcome of games😮
Obviously.
@@61js Obviously yes, but the wrong outcome.
He was literally Wales' 16th player! Two shocking yellow card decisions against England
For the penalty on 71 minutes…look straight behind at the crowd…just in front of the tunnel is 2 stewards who start celebrating, then they realise the ball is going to drop behind them so they turn around to see it but one of the loses balance and completely falls over and down some steps 😂😂
Based on hopefully returning players and these two games I’d play the following for Scotland:
Marler, George, Painter,
Itoje, Martin,
Pearson, Barbeary, Earl
Mitchell, Ford,
Seb Atkinson, Lawrence,
Roebuck, Steward, Freeman
Bench: Baxter, Dan, Davison, Coles, CCS, Quirke, F Smith,Feyi-Waboso
Well played England. Perseverance
Wales did a very good game, congrats and keep going! England is so so
How can the ball carrier be held responsible for the tackler's position, that yellow made no sense whatsoever. Terrible decision.
Don't show Rio Dyer taken in the air?
Yeah but they didn’t show it?
give em some slack, they've got these short highlights up super quick.... extended highlights to come
Aye George Ford eyed him up and took him out but Wales were devoid of any invention by that point.
Ohh, sorry you meant didn’t 🤦♂️ my bad 🤣
Must be a card happy ref in this game
Shocking to miss the first conversion. But the pass for the second England try looked iffy.
Only a metre forward
No mate, not iffy anymore, actually forward. It's allowed now. It's been creeping in for a few years and now near enough is good enough.
agreed, passed ball before 5 metre line and receiver takes it inside the 5 metre line.... def forward
At the moment of the pass the player threw himself forward as he released the ball. His hands were well over the 5mtre line.
All these cards are breaking the game.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
What a great tournment the 6 nations is
the welsh player was upright but his right knee was touching the ground? he was on his way down from a tackle from sam underhill. this yellow card on chessum was wrong, he was going for the ball.
Can't wait for the Lions tour down under this year.
Got to sort the scrums out taking up to much time.
And ban the rolling maul
And sort out the teams walking slowly to the line out, it's infuriating watching this sport nowadays.
Wales played really good in that game we were so close to winning that, very tense match 🔥🔥.
You must be joking. It was an absolute cripple fight.
@@ragerancher I disagree
@@dylanevans1901 Good for you but I really struggle to see how anyone could say that was even mediocre quality rugby. Both sides were pretty terrible.
It doesn't matter - it was close and therefore exciting as, apart from the srums & lineouts, it was fast play and and literally anything could happen. For the first time in ages I found myself on the edge of my seat, yelling things at the TV about where to pass and who should do what and getting very excited. It may not have been the best rugby (and I'm an ex player myself) but it was definitely entertaining for me. Two sides on the build.

Bravo Wales!
As a neutral it was prob boring ,both not very good .Wales will be gutted with the lose ,england be happy with the win,but Wales would still be happy for young side to come close, and for england they should have won by 20 easy with their team ,not good enough

Why do you spell Wales with a capital W and England with a lower case e? A snide little dig?

The problem is it's just so subjective@@davidreed9671
I said this about the last match. The game is finished as such now. I have been involved with Union since 1977. We should now abandon the game as it is now and accept that we have now to play touch rugby.
I am a Welsh fan and totally agree, he couldn't possibly have got lower to tackle, it's unavoidable therefore should not be a yellow if even a pen. They are making it very difficult to tackle anymore
Yep one day cards will ruin a Rugby World Cup final!!! … 🤔 oh wait
The HCP rules are too draconian and are destroying the game. It's becoming a lottery.
Those HCP havent prevented other teams from excelling at the game.
@amblincork That's a straw man argument.
Any team at any time can fall foul of this zero tolerance approach. The most innocuous and merest of impacts can now change the balance of a game. What's more, it encourages players to feign injury as we see in association football.
Pause it at 1:55 welsh 10 puts his shoulder into the try scorers head but no yellow card? Hmmm.
No arms as well.
That was painful for wale.I wanted them to win!

What is it with English kickers?Farrell last year ran out of time, now Ford doesn't notice a 110kg bloke in a bright red jersey running at him.Never mind fitness coaches etc, they need to employ an optometrist.
The Aussie ref had a bet on Wales 😂 example again of Australian ,bitterness against England ,bent twt 🏴
The state of rugby and yellow / red cards smh
the ref doesn't control the game anymore, too many outside influences, ambiguous rules, TMO, touch line officiating, after game inquisition by over opinionated media, online trolling and abuse by small minded school boys who played their last game of rugby aged 7 and now at the ripe old age of 37 feel fully justified to dish it too everyone refs and players alike, but hey, always look on the bright side of life, de doo de doo de doo doo.... everybody now, always look on the bright side of life, come on Warren sing...... come Gregor sing.....
THERE AREN'T ANY HIGHLIGHTS !
I thought the ref had a poor game and had a bigger influence on the scoreline than the teams.
Unfortunately that has become the norm these days.
@@brentmeistergeneral1054
It really hasn’t, but in this instance it’s a rare occasion where the complaints about the reffing have been legit.
Absolutely, the game is being eroded from the inside.
I know this might be recency bias but the same happened to scotland earlier
How far both of these countries have fallen is actually pretty sad.
That first yellow card was absolutely criminal. It led to the first try and 2nd yellow. Could/should have lost the clear better side the win. Has to stop…
Wait, guys that was a forward pass😂😂
it’s this sort of matches that make me turn the tv off
I turned off after Chessums Yellow
Watching it 'live' was much worse, the ref was a complete knob... ☹️
Scotland game was even worse, kickball !!
It wasn't a great game was it , basically two teams that have some ability and potential but lots that should be better at this level, the referee didn't help however the laws of the game need a complete overhaul it can't be right that the team in possession thinks it makes more sense to kick the ball to the opposition because of breakdown interpretations . We should bring back rucking for a start and reward teams that are going forward so as to draw forwards to the breakdown thus creating space for the backs. Ps Chessum yellow card? don't think it was even a penalty.
What were Wales doing?
Did anyone else notice Hollie Davidson standing inside the touch line so often? At times she's standing at least 30 - 50 cm on the pitch. I hope she doesn't get caught up in play at some point and it affect the outcome of the game.
Maybe she wants to🤭
Tell us the real reason this innocuous thing bothers you?
Where's the bloke ? 😂
The Welsh were taking their line outs from inside the pitch also. She missed that
Yellow for the Welshplayer who makes the same gesture as etzebeth (south africa) quart final worldcup.

Yellow cards are killing the game
Wales oh Wales...an ongoing story..
Rugby is becoming unwatchable with these cards. I can't remember when I last watched a game I was interested in without either a red or a game changing yellow getting in the way. Enough already. If you INSIST on punishing people for minor fouls then get the player off and allow the team to bring on a replacement so it doesn't destroy the entire game.
Penalties that result in fewer players are a pretty common aspect of many other sports. And as a low league player, I appreciate that the sport is taking my injury risk much more seriously.
They should definitely find a way to make accidental infractions less damaging, though. 5 minute penalties or something.
The cards arent actually the problem; foul play is the problem and the potential for very serious injujries to players; these cards are to protect the players
@@amblincork I know why the cards exist, but there is a huge difference between intentional and unintentional. People have been playing the same way for 20 years you can’t suddenly flick a switch and expect players to change their instincts. There were red cards in the last few six nations, and the World Cup that totally destroyed the game as a spectacle for something very innocuous. In the NFL, there is a similar debate with tackling the quarterback. However, they will flag the team, on that series of plays without destroying the entire game. In rugby they are getting this badly wrong and there seems pigheaded stubbornness to address it.
@@Ghonosyphlaids I hear you, but cards in rugby are becoming more frequent than soccer. That’s when you know it’s an absolute mess. I’m watching a game now wondering how long I can get through watching it without the referee stepping in with a card and totally screwing the game. That never used to be the case. And since when did lawyers suddenly dictate European sports more than they do American?
@@amblincorkyup, agree. I think a lot of complainers don't realise the cards are to enforce protection for players and drive changes. It's for the the players' long term health and to avoid terrible consequences later on.
Rules of rugby got to be looked at . For both sides point of view the game has gone to shit . Idiots changing the rules of the game, bring in people who play the game
I referee and couldn't agree more. There have been so many law changes in recent times. It's more like rugby league now. Ruck laws changed (just fall down with ball and have a teammate hover over you and it's a ruck: ridiculous!), too many substitutes, so you have over-sized players playing 20 minutes in second half, defensive lines that mean not enough space for backs, legalized obstruction in mauls, high tackle law changes (should be at base of neck, not armpits). Scrums a joke; they rarely get completed.
Modern rugby produces many exciting games and far fewer games that are jsut a long series of tedious scrums
Was the second English try a forward pass?
Lucky match for England!
Not really half the game playing with 13/14 and still won 😂

England are way out of form. But a way out of form team did better than the best version of Irish rugby at the world cup. Have as many six nations trophies since being out of form as Ireland have.... That would worry me if i were you. The best version of England make Ireland pay rent just to be on their battle field.

Where is the Joey Barton of rugby?
He’s somewhere being an insufferable oaf desperately trying to remain in the public eye.
This is one of the rare occasions that the complaints about poor reffing decisions are actually valid. There’s no Chessum’s tackle is even a penalty, let alone a yellow. How much lower can the guy go?
And Ford did not start his approach. I’ve seen other players do what he did probably thousands of times by now and never has that been deems an ‘approach’.
Funny though it was actually the welsh who first believe he moved. Ford thought he was playing a smart game running down the clock, and as they say what goes around comes around.🤣
@@davidwalker2402 You still lost.
It isn’t.
@@dulls8475you are still illiterate
That’s a ridiculous answer, just because he cannot go any lower doesn’t mean he can push his shoulder into someone’s head, it was a foul and head contact and he got what he deserved, he didn’t get a red card because of mitigation and circumstances. Remember he is the tackler if he cannot make the tackle because he’s going to hit his opponent in the head then he doesn’t make the tackle. It’s like saying it’s ok for a 6ft 5” guy to shoulder tackle a 5ft in the head because he cannot bend down anymore. That makes no sense.
"Highlights" is a stretch.
I hate the English national teams as much as any other self respecting non-Englishman, but that first yellow is such a big part of why Rugby is so frustrating to watch these days. Everything happens at pace, how was the player supposed to do anything different? I hate that they slow the replay down to look for anything. Watch it in real time and judge it on that. Credit to the Poms for dealing with 13 men.
I like how the ref said he needed to get lower. The guy's over 2 metres tall (6'6) and the other guy's on his knee.
