Metcalfe viaduct weathering | Garage Model Railway #4

- In this video, I wanted to enhance the fantastic Metcalfe 00 gauge model railway viaduct by adding additional weathering effects. To do this, I used blackboard chalk, humbrol weathering powders, woodland scenics foliage and also some hand painted graffiti.
I wanted the bridge to look like the local Parkhead viaduct, and for now I'm quite pleased with it. I will be looking to start track laying next.

Thanks Tom!
You did a fantastic job at weathering the viaduct Joe it looks great i think it will look great when in place and with scenery around it top work mate.
Thanks mate!
Great video just spent a day and a half putting the viaduct together and was looking for ideas for weathering say thank you so much
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Joe a nice job on the weathering I'd not thought of chalk so thanks for the tip. Atb Andy
Thanks Andy, I wasnt sure what to expect to be honest, glad it worked out in the end. Joe
Great model, and you really made it pop with your work! Fantastic outcome!
Thanks buddy!
Regarding the light areas on the fold, saw one chap who fills the fold with wood filler and colours to match. When on a stone structure the pine filler rubbed over with a grubby finger gives a good effect with further colouring.
Great weathering Joe.
Love the use of chalk, you have done it really well and it looks excellent.
The patress plates are amazing, look so much like the real life ones.
Great video
Alex
Cheers Alex!
Very nice! It's great what you can do to a Metcalfe kit to improve it and give it more realism
Thanks, they're excellent kits and really fun to build and customise! Joe
excellent, looks very good.
Thanks!
Looks good
Thanks!
I really love this, I think sometimes the slightly pink metcalfe brick can look a little generic but your mods have well and truly fixed that, and the use of chalk really works which for me is good to know as I’d have started with dry brushing and missed out on it looking this good . Thank you for sharing with us
Thank you. I fully agree with you there hence why I really wanted to mod it to give it some uniqueness. This was my first go with chalk and quite pleased with how it turned out on the card. Glad you enjoyed it! Joe
The viaduct looks great...yeah I’m lovin’ the Wolves graffiti🟠⚫️👍I think the same fans have been round our way😁
The chalk is very effective on the Metcalfe kit.
Are you going to have OHLE fitted to the sides at some point? I’m currently on a viaduct build.....I’m not quite sure how I’m going to fit the uprights yet????
Nice vid thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Cheers JohnB😷
Thanks John. Yep that's the plan and like yourself I haven't sussed that bit out either ahaa!
Hello, I’m new to the model railway stuff. What product did you use first the moss / grass?
It was woodland scenics foliage which is a great product for this kind of thing
@@DudleyCentral that’s great. Thank you so much pal :-)
