As testing, information and patches roll out, some of my original guides are in need of a minor update. The philosophy behind the rooms is still there, but with some tweaks to the minutia. Today I present four rooms that, for one reason or another, are in need of a minor update to bring everything up to speed.

Your videos have been a great help.
I was cruising along, kicking butt. Then I got to Spiffinmore and it kicked MY butt.
Your room designs really helped me out. Now I’m on Two Point University and your rooms still help.
I had to modify a few to allow heaters/ACs, but man…just watching your videos has helped me understand this game better. Designing my own rooms has become easier thanks to you.
Keep up the great work. Glad I found your channel!

I'm glad my tips have helped! Spiffinmore is a tough one for many people. Adding in Knight school (after getting wizardry/dark arts to level 2-3) helped solve my financial woes. Because campus buildings are so expensive in Spiffinmore, having a class that pays well (9000 base) and has all outdoor classrooms helps with the financial crunch, letting you hire extra guards and place extra medical buildings.

@Pinstar I'm just seeing your collection of video guides and I want to thank you for them, they are very helpful. I noticed something with your revised Lecture Theatre (LT) in this guide. In game, I created both your deafening and the revised LT with other decorations to get prestige up. The deafening LT with the eight speakers has a learning rate of 29% and the revised has 20%. I decided to see what each additional speaker, past the three you used in the revised LT, contributed to the learning power.
    Starting with 3 three surround sound speakers: the 4th gives 3% learning power, 5th 2%, 6th 2%, 7th through 11th speaker gives 1%, 12th 0%.
Oddly enough, if you take all speakers out and leave two, the 3rd gives 2% learning power to then increase by 3% with the 4th. I agree that the revised LT reduces cost (mine goes down by $22K), however, I'm thinking it might be worth the cost to go with 4 to 6 speakers since you get at least a 2% learning rate when adding 3 to 6. What do you think?

I basically have this playlist on repeat :D Do you think that you might do another stream at some point, maybe your thoughts on some of the later more tricky levels (like the start of Spiffinmoore threw me off) or maybe like a Q&A for tips and tricks? Or maybe showing off your campus designs at 3-Star?

nice revisions! i actually changed my library to include all the course bookcases, even ones i dont teach, just for the learning bonus, and since they are different items they all fully stack

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  Před rokem +2

I'm working on a new library that draws on that philosophy. It isn't a revision of my original library as it will be MUCH more expensive and meant as a 2nd library for later-game campuses. Now knowing the learning bonus mechanics better, I see the potential too. I still stand by my original library design as it meant to be affordable for a year-one campus.

Great video! I'm keeping your expensive lecture theater and research templates for late game when money is irrelevant. I already had cheap versions of both builds, so I updated those.
I'm also keeping both versions of the lounge just in case space is an issue, but I'm definitely using the long version whenever possible.

Thank you thank you thank you! I'm literally at a breaking point with Breaking Point because the lecture halls were so expensive. This is massive in that I can have two lecture halls for the price of one. Wowie wow! 😍 Also the redesign of ALL the other rooms are beautiful and cost efficient as well! Time to re template and thank you for getting me through this! 🙏☺️🤗

IMO, you just need to upgrade the lectern in the lecture room. The autocue and speakers are nice to have, but if you pick you courses well you shouldn't have any problems.
Pinstar's student lounge still needs work, IMO. You can build a 3x5 13 prestige lounge for around 14k, and I'm pretty sure his room has much less prestige than that. I use this room as a building block at the start of each level to increase the campus level, and then just sell the extra rooms when I've upgraded my courses and taken out whatever loans I want.

@@rodh1404 Hey there! This is super helpful! Just got my first star and realised that I have picked some courses that are too short to get my students up to Level 14, so I will be re-thinking that today. I wish you could screenshot your Student Lounge so we could all see and enjoy! I usually dump my training rooms to bring up the campus level, but I think since I'm almost at the end, I might just pick more courses, because I feel the algorithm wants me to add new room types (even marketing). Thanks so much again! Cheers! 😀

Here's a description that should help you recreate my Lounge:
      1) Use a 3x5 room with a door in the middle of a 3 square, just like Pinstar's.
      2) Decorate the walls: Have a Dartboard on the right hand wall, just as the students enter. Basically the same way Pinstar placed his Dartboard, except mine's right up the front. On the door wall on the dart board side, I have a bat poster and hand sanitizer.
Dotted around the walls, you'll want one of each of the following specific items: (Duck, Flower, Star) Pennant, (Cheeseball, Chef, DJ, Food Groups, Hygiene, Recycle) Poster, (No Entry, Road) Sign, Circuit Board, Family Tree, Posh Painting, Rainbow Flag. Feel free to favorite each of these items, they all have higher than average prestige.
You should be able to squeeze in another 7 wall decorations (paintings/posters). Use the $50 ones, since there's no difference in prestige. Avoid using the bigger wall decorations since wall space is at a premium.
      3) On the furthest wall from the doorway, place a Sofa, Brown Armchair and Kitchen Counter. As the students walk through the door, the Sofa should be on the right, Armchair in the middle, and Kitchen Counter on the left.
      4) Directly in front of the Kitchen Counter, place in Indoor Table, rotated so the chairs are parallel to the Counter.
      5) Place a TV in front of that, right up against the wall.
      6) Place a Boombox Table right beside the TV, also against the wall.
      7) Gothic Bookcase is next, right beside the Boombox Table and also against the wall.
      8) Finally, add a Table Football, opposite the Dartboard on the left hand side of the doorway as the students enter. This can be tricky to place, you might need to rotate it and use the Control key to place it off the grid. You might even need to move the door just a touch more towards the Dartboard to make it fit more easily.
      9) On the other wall, place a Burp! Machine, as close to the Sofa as possible, then place a Cheesy Gubbins right beside it and a Milkshake Keg beside that. You should notice you can place the Milkshake Keg over posters, so move your posters to that area if you need to. There should be just enough space to place a Wizard's Owl between the Milkshake Keg and the Dartboard.
      10) Opposite the Burp! Machine, place a Morsel Men, facing the Burp! and as close as possible to it. Beside the Morsel Men, place a Pulpitation, which should be directly opposite the Cheesy Gubbins. A Fridge should be placed beside that, approximately facing the Milkshake Keg. Place another Fridge behind that one, which should roughly face the Gothic Bookcase.
      11) Leave the space behind the Pulpitation machine empty for now. This is where you'll place your temperature controller (Air Con Unit or Radiator), or just leave empty if you don't need one.
      12) Place a Kitchen Sink behind the Morsel Men Machine facing the Indoor Table/TV. Because this room should have everything INCLUDING the Kitchen Sink.
      13) Place a bin in front of the doorway, roughly where the two Fridges join.
If you've done it right, you'll have a room with 13 Prestige that costs $13,110. It should satisfy the student's food, drink, hygiene, entertainment and friendship needs. And it should be very easy to add a temperature controller to the room if you need one. I've deliberately avoided having windows with this room, but if you do want one, make sure it's a Large Window, because that has double the prestige of a regular window. That will allow you to remove 2 regular wall decorations, but the build will cost an extra $100.

@@sanathooja Also, here's a few tips for Two Point University, when you get that far:
      1) Archaeology is AMAZING on this campus. Start with level 2 and build the biggest Dig Site you possibly can in Year 1. After Year 1, edit the Archaeology course and drop your student intake to 0. Sadly, the game wants profits for this campus, and selling ancient relics adds nothing to your profits.
      2) For your 2nd course, I strongly suggest Robotics. Some suggest School of Thought, but that's a Very Hard course compared to Robotics which is just Medium difficulty. The XP bonuses you'll get will more than make up for the difference in tuition fees.
      3) Place all 5 clubs right at the start of the scenario and get them all to at least level 5 as soon as possible. Even if it means hiring assistants to do so. Yeah, this bit's terrible, but just trust me on this.
      4) Remember, small, low cost but high prestige rooms like my Student Lounge are an effective way to raise your Campus Level. And bear in mind that while General Knowledge will do almost nothing for helping University profits, it's very easy to get A+ graduates using that course. Although you should be getting plenty of A+ students from Robotics by the time this goal comes up.
      5) Like the money you get from Archaeology, the money you get completing Research doesn't count towards profits. But the researcher(s) salary does count towards costs....

@@rodh1404 hey that was super in depth! Thank you so much. Luckily I got out of my own pickle by starting off with Money Wrangling (i hadn't done it before). And boy did those students pay for everything! I ended up cheating I guess cos I picked Scientography as well to get my Level 14 students and then to get the campus level up I picked the Cheeseball course. Made my campus look awesome and the jocks and cheerleaders fit it quite well! 😍
Your tips are noted and I can't wait to use them in Two Point University! Cheers! 🍺

      Both diminish.

    • @Pinstar
      @Pinstar  Před rokem +2

Correct. I initially knew about the diminishing returns that applied to the prestige of objects after 3, but I did not originally know that applied to learning bonuses. Since my original lecture theatre and training room were built with more than 3 copies of a learning bonus object, they were more expensive than they needed to be, so these revised versions trims the fat while maintaining a reasonably high bonus.

@@isabelmccann2411 Build small but high prestige rooms. I use the Student Lounge for that. Pinstar's version won't cut it (the room prestige is too low), but you can have a 3x5 room with 13 prestige for around 14k if you carefully choose the items you put in it. The TV, sofa and brown armchair are all high prestige items that have low cost, and should be part of every student lounge IMO. The kitchen counter is another low cost, high prestige item unique to the student lounge, and should be placed there if you can. And since this is a room you can and should spam, there's no reason not to have an indoor table as well because once again it's a low cost, high prestige item.

A great way to goose up your campus level is hiring staff with lots of skill levels. An assistant with something random like level 7 happiness will give you a huge spike in campus level when you hire them. Training up your existing staff is also a great way to gradually increase campus level (in addition to the benefits of their higher skills).
