The fact that the way the light was reflecting on the metal made me believe that the kid’s fan was covered with the fabric too is all the more proof how effective this trick works. When you straight up can’t tell the difference even seeing it up close, that’s some good tricks.
The problem I see is that people will act differently with a half empty can. Hold it differently, drink from it at the incorrect angle etc. Seems better to empty the can and fill it with water for less mess.
@@christiancasaverdepertica1802 so because it was clearly different between the two that’s what tricked you into believing they were the same. You might need to reread your own statement.
@Puckett. What tricks me is that there's very little visual difference. Looking at them without studying it closely, I know they're showing it being used, and expect both to do it

The carbonation starts to inflate the can, and you wipe the piece of paper off revealing that you just "refilled and sealed" the can.. then open and poor. 😅 It's actually a really cool trick/ freaked a lot of people out doing it. Especially when you plant it in the trash.

@@maxalvarez5223 Yes I do CGI work for television and film. Usually it's general special effects like object replacement, chromakey backgrounds, explosions, particle effects, and so on.
I saw the light scatter on the hole in the kids can and I was impressed. That was way more realistic with light than I expected. And then that happened.
Pretty good. 9 out of 10 times it's obvious if the can is empty because of how they hold it and how it moves. Same goes for coffee cups and especially luggage.
I don’t know if y’all of ever seen that magic trick where there’s an open can of soda that’s halfway crushed(it appears empty, although there’s like half a can of liquid left in it, which is drained through a tiny hole in the side) and then the magician will shake it and it will blow up to its normal form and then they wipe their fingers over the top and it “re-closes”the can, they’re actually just wiping the black paper from the top, and then they open the can, and pour liquid from it ….that’s all because of this prop…. David Blaine used to do that trick.
The version I saw they used black whiteboard marker to darken the hole and wiped it off with their thumb. The fabric idea would probably be more reliable as you could accidentally leave some marker on the can.
Its so wild how simple and silly so many effects and stuff we take for granted in filming. I really love it. You would think it be off putting or bubble bursting. But no its super interesting and amazing to learn. Helps me understand much more all the work that goes into the craft. And appreciate it because ai and cgi are taking over slowly
One thing that I have been pondering is what they used in the live action Grinch movie for the banana peel which Jim Carey had to eat in one scene. I find that video idea very APPEELING.
My prop pet peeve is when someone is picking up a cup or can and you can just tell there’s nothing in it because of how light it is for them. This totally solve that
I used to use this for a magic trick where you "refill" an empty, slightly crushed pop can by first making a small hole and draining some pop, crushing the can a bit to sell the empty effect. Then, you slowly "un-dent" the can by holding your finger over the pin-hole while shaking the can lightly to increase pressure, and remove the black piece of paper (not tape for this) to make it seem like you changed the empty can into a resealed, full can.
Not only are they less fragile, but theyre still heavy. Its less than a pound, but theres still a difference in how a person holds a full can vs an empty one.
I used to do this for a magic trick when I was like a freshman in high school. It was a simple trick if I remember you just had to convince the person the can was already open. I even had a couple sheets of black paper with the cutouts marked so I could make new cans on the spot🤣
This is also used in a magic trick called the Regenerating can. You do this to make it look open but then poke a hole near the rim of the can. You can pore soda from it, showing people the can is open. You take out about half the soda and then crinkle the can. With some Slite of hand, you remove the thing covering the lid and place a fibger over the hole. You hold the can out and oretend to be sending energy to it by shaking the can Slightly the soda thats left in the can will cause the can in inflate again undoung the crinkles then you open the can and pour out the soda that was left to complete the illusion.
You can just open them empty them wash and fill them halfway with epoxy resin etc and they pose no risk and are reusable long term for tv shows etc. and provide accurate weight.
While i definitely can tell the difference when knowing which is which, i will admit that the first watch through i was fully convinced that both cans were still sealed. The drink pouring out was a surprise for sure. This trick works.
