Karen runs, dorinda scats, jackie is smoothe, and denise has a distinct tone-- twinkie possesses all of these traits, in addition to that nasty growl that nobody can mimic, her bass/lower register that the other sisters do not (or cannot) access, and lets not forget her being the queen of the B3. I was 16 years old when Dr Clark and The Clark Sisters came over to London for a concert with the COGIC Mass Choir (UK) and I remember sitting like 2 meters away from her on the Hammond organ. The first song that she led that night was 'Just When I Need Him Most'... Let me tell you... that moment changed my life forever!!! I broke my curfew that night by staying til the very end of the concert ('Hallelujah' went on for like half hour! 🔥)..... I got into the most trouble with my parents that night! 😂 But I was prepared to take whatever punishment I was dealt with AND I would do it again! LOL! ♥️
She has sacrificed and poured out so much. I don't know how gospel music, or music as a whole for that matter, would have progressed had she never existed.
Every Clark Sister is outstanding. Love Jacky’s smoothness. Dorinda is so versatile. Karen’s voice is unparalleled. But in the interest of keeping it real, there is NO CLARK SISTERS without Twinkie. Period.
I’ve noticed that Twinkie goes from a rough growl all the way to a very clear tone like a bell ringing. The only other sister with that kind of bright, clean and soft tone is Denise. Twinkie is just able to execute both ends of the spectrum.
