It was not easy to perform when he was sick. But Dimash managed to do it, he also learned the song in Chinese
Great reaction! This song is especially heartbreaking and knowing how sick Dimash was, no voice and being in a foreign land without his family with him must have been frightening. His fellow contestants who became his friends all tried to help and encourage him. He delivered a heart wrenching performance. From another source, Dimash said that he regained his voice just long enough to perform, but singing was like having broken glass in his throat, and right after, his voice was gone again. The 2017 Bastau concert, he was healthy and performed this song as well. Should check that one out. Love and respect for Dimash. Take care and God bless. ❤

"Daybreak" is one of my favourite Dimash performances. The song itself is beautiful, and his vocals were still flawless.
Maybe you should see Han Hong sing her own song on Singer 2016. She is an amazing performer.

When I saw this performance during my binging of his performances on The Singer 2017, I was amazed that he was able to even sing a note, given how sick he was. Gloria really did a fantastic job in telling us all the heartbreaking story. I really was crying so hard. Dimash really nailed it. When he went for the high notes, I was like, "Oh boy, he didn't listen to the doctor's warning." He not only hit them, which was mindblowing in and of itself, but they were so powerful. Paul, thank you for your wonderful reaction as always. 😊
Thank you so much for your sensitiv reaction and that you reacted to this video first. And yes, you will hear the difference between this video and the one from Bastau when he had no sore throat. I think you also will appreciate Bastau even more if you know the story behind it. And I'm sure you'll agree.
It is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Bastau will blow your mind. This was his first solo concert after The Singer competition 2017. The emotions he conveys in this song, the desperation and sadness are so beautiful but heartbreaking. And of course the stage show. There are water fountains on stage. I read that Dimash insisted on doing this to give viewers a better idea of the day of the tragedy. He’s just a perfectionist. He worked so hard for this terrific concert. I was scared at first when I saw him. He was so terribly thin.
In both versions I always cry my eyes out. I don’t know why I have to cry more. Because of the story or the fact, that he was in such pain and performed anyway because he didn’t want to disappoint the audience. Both version were in the same year 2017.

What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Especially to Terry Lin. Just for fun, Terry adopted Dimash and Dimash named him Papa Lin. Do not be fooled. Terry is older than he looks. He was 50 years old then. They performed together on stage and sang Dimash’s song Unforgettable Day together. They visit each other when they can and send each other birthday greetings. Thank you for your interest (if you’ve read it this far). You may want to see, or even react to, videos that were filmed behind the scenes of the competition. They are very interesting if you want to get to know Dimash from a different, more private side. And they’re pretty funny as he doesn’t take himself too seriously and he’s always joking.

This video is a shortened version. In the original, it is shown how one of the contestants offered him some Chinese drops, which actually restored his voice for some time before the performance. Later, the pain returned and at the end of the performance, as soon as he left the stage, he is seen clutching his throat in pain from singing.

As always Paul you did another great reaction to the fantastic human being we call DIMASH. This song always gets to a special place near your soul when you hear ir and know the story behind it. It is amazing how a young ,man with a sick voice can still reach somewhere deep inside himself to give such a performance. Just one of the reasons he has such loyal fans, and I am proud to be one.

👉 Emotional and heartbreaking. I keep crying, even though I've heard the song 1000 times.
If you don't know, you don't hear it... Dimash lost his voice before this performance (Singer 2017). The doctor gave Dimash 5 injections in his throat and a competitor gave him 'traditional medicine'. All competitors kept their fingers crossed for him and cheered him on. But, if you don't know, you will hear Dimash's voice as powerful and passionate as ever. After this performance, he was asked how his throat felt and he said it felt like broken glass in it. Shortly after he sang, he lost his voice again.
