A Gordon For Me, a Gordon for me. My maternal grandfather, a Campbeltown man, was a piper in the 8th Argylls, Ian. I have a very old photo of him marching at the head of the detachment somewhere down in England prior to embarkation for France. Great piece of history, this video of yours, Ian.

He was one of the lucky ones, Ian. Unfortunately he was killed in the 1930s while travelling home in the dark on his bicycle. He lived out in the country south of Campbeltown here in Argyll. I never got to meet him and would have loved to have had that pleasure as he was acknowledged as a fine piper; both of my daughters play the pipes but I settled for different instruments, though the love of Scottish and especially bagpipe music is strong in the family.
