DEP Marine Fisheries Administration - Artificial Reef Program

VINIK HUNTRESS Tugboat
On June 9,2020, the Marine Fisheries Administration deployed a 65-foot tugboat VINIK HUNTRESS at the Sandy Hook Reef. The sinking of this tugboat is in memory of Hudson River Fishermen's Association past member Darren Cardinal. Sponsorship of this project is being provided by the association and The Sportfishing Fund.
Artificial reefs provide a hard substrate for marine life, fishing grounds for anglers, and underwater structures for scuba divers to enjoy.
