Jaw dropping? Imagine when it came out.
The Sex Pistols were a wake up call to the music landscape at the time. (I don't think all the lyrics were correct)
They had one album and were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Gives you an idea of the impact they had.
Try 'God Save the Queen', 'Bodies' or 'Holiday in the Sun'.

Regarding the Rock & Roll Hall, it's worth mentioning that the Sex Pistols appropriately refused to Be at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Getting into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is an honor for many classic rock bands, however, the Sex Pistols didn't feel that way. Instead of attending the ceremony, they sent a note explaining why they wouldn't attend. You may like to read the Sex Pistols handwritten response to being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame...
“Next to the SEX-PISTOLS rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. Your museum. Urine in wine. We're not coming. We're not your monkey and so what? Fame at $25,000 if we paid for a table, or $15000 to squeak up in the gallery, goes to a non-profit organisation selling us a load of old famous. Congratulations. If you voted for us, hope you noted your reasons. You're anonymous as judges, but you're still music industry people. We're not coming. You're not paying attention. Outside the shit-stem is a real SEX PISTOL.”

If you watch the video to go along with the song, you can see that he (Johnny Rotten/Lydon) isn't really drunk, just super angry and honestly sarcastic. Try the video version of "God Save the Queen". I've always loved them, even though they only put out one album!

When Johnny sings "I use the N.M.E." that being New Musical Express, a music newspaper that was the "bible" of the music and scene. Other word - enemy. I'm not from England but CA. and I was into the music right from the beginning. I was way deep into the LA punk scene both in the music and physically in the clubs. The Sex Pistols are my 2nd favorite band behind Motorhead.

  • @redlead873
    @redlead873 Před 2 lety +2

The Sex Pistols were together for about 1 year, made 1 studio album which changed the course of music. to quote Noel Gallagher, ''How can a band make 1 album and get it so right first time. I would give all 10 albums I've written to have been able to write this''. Everything changed after Never Mind the Bollocks''

    • @punkoid76

Cook and Jones started playing as a band in 72 with various other members, Matlock joined in 74 and Lydon in 75. They split up in 78, so they were together for well over 1 year.

  • @xenodude6136

The sex pistols disbanded in 1978, Johnny rotten (singer) couldn’t handle the management and didn’t want to be controlled by a manager that tells him how to behave and act, so he left and formed his own band in 1978 called, Public Image Ltd. Which I would prefer over the sex pistols (I do like it though)
His band Public image Ltd is a combination of so many genres over the past 40 years, mixing punk, dub, New wave, Rock, etc.
To give you starters of PIL (Short term for the band name), react to Their first song, ‘Public Image’ (it talks about his time in the sex pistols), then check out ‘This is not a love song (album version)’, and lastly ‘Rise’.
From those three songs by them, you will kinda get how their sound changes. I wanted to recommend more by them, but I think those three are THE best songs to introduce you to PIL.
Great Reaction! And I hope you react to these songs, Hv a good one.

They were a controversial band and one of Rock history most influential ones. This was their only album and it is considered an icon of popular culture. John Lydon, the lead singer, sings in a working class North London accent.
The lyrics to this song are about the UK 's economic and social crisis in Great Britain those days.
It's a disaffected youth hymn from 1976's Britain.

Right.... as a couple of other viewers had detailed, the situation at the time left a lot of the English working class in near poverty levels, with no near relief in sight... the young people affected wanted 1) to be somewhere else other than in the situation they were in, 2) wanted the freedom to express their oppressed situation by whatever means... so yeah, John Lydon and the Pistols were pissed and they were at the right place at the right time to represent... A statement needed to finally be made...
Keep doing what you all are doing! Thanks!

It was an earthquake .Sarcasm against powers, against social situations(no jobs for the first time since WW II),against authority (Queen, police, laws, gouvernement)and againstt mainstream music(Prog rock with long boring technical parts, disco, nice poppy songs and the rich rock stars)
So it's aggressive. But how refreshing attitude. And musically, the short solos were welcome

I am new hier. First if you want listen rock.. Metal... Listen it with phones..
Second stop lyrics videos.. If you want lirycs put them in another support(phone or tablet...) so you can follow it and read the song history or meaning.. (I listen rock metal since I was 5 and never have understand any lirics until those last years) lirics are only 20%in the song... Important is the rhithm. The transitions... And the voice... Exemple I listen Rammstein since 99/00 German band I don t speak and understand german OK now with Google or another way I understand the meaning of the song... But until now it was not important... To understand and like the song. If you never try react to Rammstein live in Paris of in NY Madison Square... Song hast(this one just because the another titels are to difficult to write.. But from this German band for sure in 25 songs from them you will like minimal 15)

Thank you for watching and providing feedback. I am Rob the R in RMK. I wrote the about section, as well as all the titles and descriptions for each song. Myles, Kate, and myself each have a different background and interest in music. The purpose of the channel is to share these different styles with each other and see the other's reaction. We hope to grow musically through it. I am very familiar with all the bands Myles has reacted to thus far. I had suggested them to him. It is the stuff I grew up on. He grew up on a different style of music. We three are open to trying new music that we haven't heard before, but we aren't always going to like what we hear. Music is very subjective and nobody is a fan of all music. Again, thank you for watching.
