Great video ! I liked it was little bit longer then usual. Some true sadness in that one,, all loss is sad but many “sudden” and young. Dr Verling quite interesting find, like who’d have thought. Ya enjoyed very much! Great turn out too 🇺🇸🧚🏻♀️

An old 1723 headstone, Napoleons doctor and an import tax evading marker! Couldn't get any better. Thoroughly enjoyed this walkabout with you. Deb of Oz.
Thanks DM 👍👍
This looks good! May have to catch it afterwards though. 💚
No problem thanks
Beautiful old graveyard. Wonder what the church looked like when standing ? That’s the first time I have seen the interior space of the old church used like that. This Doctor was an important man back in the day. I wish I could go back for just 24 hours to work along side this Doctor to get a feel of what life was like . Maybe not so bad without cell phones and TV’s. Wonderful segment. Thanks for all the work. Hi Sue! - Paul - St Petersburg, Florida
Hi Paul yes amazing history indeed thanks for watching 🙏

Hi there sue
I have been to see many military graves over the years many in Highate in London. But one of the most touching were the graves of two actors, Peter Sallis who played Clegg, and Bill Owen who played Compo, who both played in Last of The Summer Wine who are buried side by side in St. Johns churchyard in Upperthong over looking the town where it was was set. I have been to some military memorials, and still have my two minutes every year that still brings a tear to the eye. I was born after WWII, but can still remember the old bomb sites, Anderson shelters, ect, and the dud munitions were safely removered. The younger generation of today don't really understand what happened, but time moves on. Another great video that gives an education. Thanks.
I loved that show last of the summer wine very good
Thanks!
A little something from you American

@@ninanonna2007 Maureen thank you so much ❤
It's interesting how the Doctor was stationed in Portugal, for the Iberian (Spain and Portugal) Peninsula war. His next post, on St Helena Island fascinates because I was lucky to have been in a sailing crew which sailed from Cape Tow to St Helena. It's a very historic place. To then go to Malta and on to Nova Scotia (pronounced socha), a now Canadian Province, shows the reach of the British Empire at its height. St Helena is a great place to visit. Lots of South African influence there.
Wow great to hear ❤️
Hello my friend, hope this message finds u well ;-)
Hi man doing good 👍
HI ALL!
Hi Janice
Going to try…going to a BBQ! Will watch when I return
Thanks liz
Wow so interesting for a military man like myself, The official grave that was hidden under the greenery means, that he had died due to wounds that where caused during ww1, although he died in 1920. The musician was from the royal marines band. The HMS Devastation didnt really see action, so i think the guy died on board doing his naval duties. But thanks for the amazing History. And apologies of course from myself for the young boy killed by my Army.
Thanks Tom and no need to apologise we are all family on here 🇮🇪❤️🙏

@@GraveVisitations I would love to come to Ireland is such a beautiful place and an old place very interesting I love history
We're you near an army base or something? Background sounds like a drill sargent...lol...beautiful place...lots of ww1 Vets there...
No, don't know what you mean by drill Sargent 🤷♂️
@@GraveVisitations a man in charge of a military unit who gives orders...loudly...
@@shelliewerner5624 I know that but I haven't heard anything on video unless I was near an event happening which I could have been. just can't remember
Question from the United States, with chest tombs which we call sarcophagus, is it your culture in Ireland to bury multiple family members in the same chest as it is with burying multiple family members in the same grave? If so, are the bodies just wrapped and the chest tomb opened to bury the next family member?
Chest tomb is just design on top of grave. Bodies buried under ground. Coffins side by side and on top
@@GraveVisitations suggested video for you. You should do a video on how family burials are done in your country in the same grave. Of course not recommending that you film an actual burial. But explain with created visualizations of how it's done. Sue confirmed with me that families are buried in the same grave & that it's dug deeper than they are in the united states. Which is the reasoning that many family members are listed on a headstone there.
Here in the United States family plots are sold side by side which I feel is just a way to make $$$ on property for the funeral business plus it uses more land. Vaults are also required for ground burial. I personally would love to be buried with my Mama, Daddy, Brother's & know that my children & grandchildren will be buried with me one day. I'm currently leaning toward cremation for that very reason. The United States is very different than your culture. I'm also thinking about natural burial if it's different if my family can be buried in my same grave.
