There are mini circuit breakers you can get that you can put alligator clips, or solder a broken fuse across the terminals of the breaker, and use them to troubleshoot games that blow fuses. Use a breaker that's the same amperage as the fuse in question. You'll save fuses that way. However, don't just keep re-pressing the breaker. If it opens, look for shorts, measure resistance to ground, or try to find the part on the circuit board that's getting the hottest. Re-powering it into a short over and over again will break the bridge rectifiers or the voltage regulator (if applicable)

Use your meter to check the amps going across the fuse before wasting your fuses. Before and after the repair..

That's another option if the fuse is blown. I don't mind wasting a single fuse, but you do make a point - you can use your meter to avoid blowing a fuse.

@@PinballHelp I'm not 100% but you can measure across the terminals without a fuse . Per Rays tech tips, meters...

realistically it never goes smoothly in the shop, the tools fail the one fuse you need is the the one you are out of. It's never the fuse. These videos are most validating.

Your using the wrong end of the fuse puller. You are using the end that pulls bulbs out of socket. Use the tapered end for pulling fuses.

I'll check that out, but I think my particular puller is messed up.
