You said you were looking for video ideas, well here’s one: play as characters that most people hate fighting against (like sonic, or min min, or something), and play them in the most stereotypical WiFi-gremlin manner possible, and talk about how to beat those strategies. It would be a sort of educational video that I think a lot of people could use
Yes
Would be interesting
Here are some other characters that people often hate playing against: Kirby, any of the Links, Zelda, either of the Samuses, Yoshi, Pikachu, Ness, Lucas, Game and Watch, ZSS, Snake, Olimar, R.O.B., Villager, Isabelle, Mega Man, Palutena, Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt, the Belmonts, K. Rool, Incineroar, Plant, Hero, Banjo, Steve and Alex, Pythra, and Sora. A very long list, but some characters, such as Zelda, are more hated than others; plus this way you have a greater variety to choose from.

How to notice someone is low GSP:
-not going high
-not ledgetrapping
-not getting 76% on a math test
Underrated comment
Another key giveaway is being hypw
why does everyone bring up the 76% lol it's not that bad
I honestly remember the first time that smash clicked for me. I bought the game because my friends played it, but I had never really gotten into fighting games before. Playing was a little bit of a chore, but since I was with my friends I just played along.
One day I was playing with DK and suddenly realized that I could connect two aerial attacks, and literally in one moment to the next I realized that I could approach my friends with a plan in mind. Scheming an attack plan and pulling it off on them was so freaking satisfying that I was instantly hooked into the game.
I went to my first tourney a week ago and was promptly beaten by a 15 year old, but I can't imagine my life without smash now lol
It was same for me, sonic got me into the game. I main Young Link now though.
I remember that moment for me very distinctly. Back then, I had been playing a lot of online, and my GSP for all of my mains was under 1 million. I just couldn't figure out how to win any match; I'd fall for all of the scrubby spotdodge down-smashes and projectile spam. Then came one fateful match. I was playing against a Link, and it had gotten down to a last hit situation. We were both playing scared, but then, a thought occurred to me. All throughout the match, this Link had been hitting me with Up-B out of shield. And so I suddenly realized. what if I jumped at him, hit his shield with a safe aerial, and then shielded his Up-B? With a plan in my head, I approached him accordingly. I hit his shield, I blocked his up-b, and I charged an F-smash. It was the first time that I had successfully predicted a player's habits, and the pride of victory will stay in my memory for all time.
@@chacha4343 Sakurai really did something special with this game. The mechanics are relatively simple, but they open so much possibilities! It's difficult for me to explain unless you experience it yourself
Bro same, I haven't played in a tourney yet, but I started off playing a lot of Luigi/Villager and now that I'm more familiar with how the game plays, I usually play Kirby or Hero a lot. Might be looking to go to a tourney and participating in the future tho.
Lmaoooo I was the same, never into fighting games much and I liked smash but never really got into it until CZcams recommended me a choctopus video “the art of spiking in smash” and then from there it was all downhill… trying my first tourney this Sunday
This was very interesting and enjoyable. I’ve played around 2,000,000 to the upper 8’s and I feel like the players vary so much; I see a lot of players up at 8 that you’d think belong at 2.
Lots of dlc users tbh. And swordies
and vise versa
Honestly there is more of a skill difference between top of elite and mid of elite than there is between 8mil and 2mil
Also people at 2 that should belong at 7 but that just lose because of wifi/DLC.
@@Mohamed-FreePalestina if they were good, they would've adapted
"Why would I shield? I need to hit you to win, why wouldn't I hit you?" - an acquaintance.
Sounds like my friend, who only uses b moves and smash attacks. He says "why would i need to use any other attacks, i only like to play offline with friends"
Last I checked I spent $60 on a fighting game not a blocking game
@@fernandomora4230 Yeah! Just because they added Steve and co doesn't make this Minecraft.
Just waiting for a future vid: So Holly has great GSP with her characters so I thought *Tournament Time BABYYY!*
Watch him lose an online tournament with Diddy.
Absolutely do more of these. Love learning about potential habits to break/exploit.
I think that's the most useful part for me. I don't have anyone to tell me what I'm doing wrong, so I can't fix it. Watching him analyze other bad players gives me actual habits to look out for and to avoid.
For me, the main reason my GSP is in the 6 mill zone is because I almost entirely play Smash for fun in person with friends, and only go online when I'm super bored. That said I'd love Poppt to dunk on me for my Isabelle gameplay
Series idea: people submit videos in the discord and you give them advice on how to get better
He already does that
Unless I'm not understanding correctly, I'm guessing you mean the guessing GSP series? It's a great series, but maybe he could give a bit more advice since I seem to miss it
The 7-8 mil bracket is frustrating for the wrong reasons. It's like 2-3mil worth of GSP you have to earn to get into elite smash while fighting against strictly DLC.
I swear, aegis and joker are the gatekeeper of elite smash for some reason
Poppt’s teaching skills from his degree really coming out in this video
I don't know about others, but I'd love to see you analyse top sets, or even your own sets more. You are the most interesting to watch when tryharding. I saw a couple of your sets, I think one against Teehee at your Perth tournaments, they're very fun to watch.
As someone who has played this game for years and is also still terrible, I’m offended.
Hearing you say,” Normal get up roll” and then they do it is my new favorite thing
This was one of my favorite videos tbh
I just love how quickly he picks up on habits and then immediately develops a counter play that destroys the bad habits 😂
When I started play smash ultimate, I used to not grab or even block. I eventually learned it was very useful to do both.
Lmao same 👀
I’ve played these matches, and honestly I just feel bad winning against them because I know hitting a 26-hit combo that can be airdodged through hurts them inside :)
It’s actually more painful to see them getting their asses kicked
It’s more painful being one of those people and thinking you are good because you can beat some of your friends and you don’t know how to improve but you are invested in the game
Agree
Literal level 9 CPUs airdodge better unfortunately.
Landing the full Falco combo on someone and then they DC is the best feeling in the world
Love this idea. Its so much clearer why things work or don't work at low gsp. Like your top opponent analysis is always great but because they're switching up, it's a bit harder to see why things don't work. Here where you punish them everytime it's clear what is ok and what is not. Keep up the great work
Thank you for acknowlaging that GSP is tied to skill and not completely annalilating the oppenets. As a low GSP native I REALLY appricate this. This video deserves a like.
Poppt is trying to get in with the casuals so that he can actually win with items on

You should make a video on smash communities across the world
Here in asia we have japan,Singapore,India,UAE,South Korea and China
Covering how smash evolved in different parts of the world would be fun😄
Love it! It seems easier to recognize and understand "why did they lose?" than "how did they win?". I'm pretty trash at this game (years of playing smash casually) and today's video gave me like 4 things I can instantly start improving on.
I couldn't tell if there was no music or if it was just so low you can't really hear it. But either way the pure awkward silence put this video into such a perfect perspective!
At the start of smash ultimate i was coming from just playing Brawl and smash 4 with my friends so i never touched online. I was the famous “best” of the group but i never versed anyone else so i didn’t know the wifi rules. I really wanted this time to take it seriously watching top players and the first thing i noticed…was that i never used shield. Yes, because it felt more natural dodging with roll. Then yes never grab, never used neutral air. We were very keen on specials, grounded options, so no short hopping, no “ghost” hitters like the online family ahah today after 3 years i am 10 mil gsp with a lot of characters and i study and struggle with advanced techs, but i remember very well that shield was something i didn’t use for years
This is very educational. Some of the stuff you called out on the higher GSP opponents I notice myself doing. Please keep doing this style of video so help struggling players.
Honestly I'd love tp see more of these tips and tricks and seeing your mind and what you're thinking about. And in low gsp you can do that a lot easier it seems. I'd love more of these.
The legend is finally going to explore the world of low Gsp hell
I think it's more I shield and grab TOO OFTEN on my end that I become predictable, I'll either hold forward to hit or hold forward to grab, or shield.
6:41 "it sounds like a cow"
Yep! In Metal Gear Solid 4 those are basically small Metal Gear robots, and they moo to make enemies confused iirc
Challenge;
"It's folly to mess with Holly!
She plays a low gsp character, when she gets to one stock YOU take over and win :)
Also I love these videos, do more!
that poor falco getting absolutely read to filth
I'm glad that you take this approach to this kind of video, otherwise I'm not a fan of seeing good players dunk on newbies, because it means someone else on the other end having a really bad time.
I think a lot of low gsp players are more casual. I have a few characters near elite smash but for the most part I’ll only play online once a week. I don’t really think gsp actually determines skill, especially online with lag.
Video idea that I thought of due to 7:34
You have a Battle Arena, and you have your discord members join, and you get to fight them, and you guess whatever their GSP is with the character that they'd be using.
I think that sounds cool
0:16 gives the same vibes as in Star Trek when they observe less developed civilizations to determine when they’ll be ready to join the intergalactic community. Just someone so much more advanced than you observing your behavior, hilarious concept.
I go to tournaments, but most of my friends play smash completely casually, and the main thing I always notice is that lower skill players usually panic/fastfall when theyre off stage and just. forget to press up + b.
Strangely enough, I used shield a lot when I was new because I thought it was over powered because I just couldn’t get hurt. Other than that, I just hit A while holding my stick towards the opponent. I played Roy, Ice Climbers, and Snake in Melee and Brawl
I like this kind of video ! I learned how to punish that cheeky spot dodge habit.
I have 10 mil gsp and have gone down to the depths of quick play as well to see just why people are worse. Usually the biggest problems are no shielding, being too aggressive, recovering the exact same way evertime, not knowing optimal combos or what every move does and probably what makes them lose the most is terrible spacing.
That’s me 100%. As a low GSP player, I have a hard time learning how to break these habits because I can never figure out how to apply the good ones in matches.
@@SiebayPlays Y E S
@@SiebayPlays A good tip that wasnt mentioned in this video is that whenever you go for an aggressive option, try immediately running away after you land. This does two things. One, if the player picks an immediate aggressive option you will dodge it through pure movement making it really easy to run back in and punish the miss. Two it allows you space to think and decide your next move instead of just trying to guess what the right option is all the time. Most of the moves in smash are too fast for any human to react to point blank so by creating distance instead of just swinging your next move out you can easily catch people who are mashing.
4:10 That story time just killed me straight up
Poppt is like Holly I’m sorry for bring up your GSP
Holly: Why are you sorry? This is great! I can now show this to my friends!
I vividly remember that the first time I ever learned how to dodge is Tabuu in Subspace.
Actual conversation I had:
Me: Yo, can you stop rolling so much? It's really predictable.
Him: Why? I'm dodging attacks.
The most important skill for winning at 4-7ish million gsp imo is reading/punishing jumps. I hardly even mean read, so often at that level it's just assume that they will press jump. And then you play someone who's good and it throws everything off #(
As a sweaty competitive player this is so funny to me. It’s hard to remember when I never shielded and grabbed. Long story short. Play >1k hours and you can be good 👍.
Poppt1: they lose because they don’t use shield enough
Me: **losing because I use shield too much**
I'm always stuck around 3 gsp, I have a few characters I'll play (dk, captain falcon, wario, ness, and king k rool) I'm grabbing and shielding I'm always trying to get combos but never land them and I get stressed out and end up throwing the game
It's a bit late, but hey, same here :)
I love how he didn't even go to low GSP himself but stole his GF's switch instead...
other people: "you're losing on my account?"
holly: "why're you winning on my account?"
This is super helpful! Fun to see the progression of bad habits and how you use them
Low gsp in australia: please dont hurt me
Low GSP in America: Im about to end this mans whole career
Entertaining and interesting! Watching those errors be picked out was actually helpful seeing it from a real game and honestly the offensive -> defensive guy at the end made me wonder am I doing or seeing that and not picking up on it! Great content mate.
I swear when i am playing at 3 mil gsp i feel like the players are so much better. They read you, and of course they grab and shield lol.
Or maybe im just bad.. 😅
(I really appreciate this video though, i love how you break down habits and what your opponents are doing)
I‘m playing at 2.2 - 2.7 mil GSP, this video is a bad take on low GSP, literally NOBODY I ever played against is that bad. People grab, shield, ledgetrap and even spike you. Not to mention the people destroying you with combos. He either does not show the actual good enemies or he had the most luck ever.
Honestly one of my favourite videos from you so far. Really interesting seeing peoples habits and how quickly you catch on and how quickly their game plan falls apart as a result. Both super entertaining and helpful!
This was actually a great video for me to think about my bad habits I have yet to get anyone expect for Link into elite smash
0:08 - 0:13 Jordan when he ledge traps Peter
I dig this. Giving productive commentary on the average player is helpful, for everyone.
thanks for the insight!
I swear. I get a bunch of hidden high GSP players. Either that or I'm catching all the low GSP sweaters that will never make a dime on or offline, but they fully believe it so they play like it.
My online story with Ultimate is just me getting one or two lucky ass wins and then getting worked like another day at the office.
I should say: the reason no one shields is that at low gsp we learn fast that if he shield, we cannot punish the attack. It's just really hard to do with online lag.
I bet if u played these guys offline, they'd shield a lot more.
6:03 why did he not say ima scoop you up like the ice cream man
3:00 lmaoooo you make the beginners go into depression
Please do more videos like this. This is just so helpful, it's really nice seeing all those things talked about in tutorial videos in action!
Thank you so much poppt you legit just got me in elite smash by pointing out my flaws in my gameplay, bro this video has just wow thank you poppt
“At 5 mil people don’t shield a lot”
I am shielding way 2 much and many characters of mine are between 5 and 7 mil so IDK what I am doing wrong
You said yourself, you’re shielding too much. It’s a great option up close but a lot of the time the best option is to use movement to space around your opponent. Something to remember is that you don’t always have to be doing an attack or shielding. Move around and watch what your opponent does. Eventually they’ll do something and you can punish. It takes practice though, no one should expect to be perfect immediately, or ever really. Remember that, and I guarantee you’ll improve.
@@gusjanuary1729 ok thnx

Beat them only using Mario up-smash. thx Poppt
One thing I do like about smash (as im a dota 2 player) is that its a 1v1 game online, you have no team to hold you back or blame, your rank its quite literally only yours. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said a lot of people play for fun. They dont know these terms "neutral" or "spot dodge" etc they grab a controller and pick a character they think is cool. There is not looking for frame data or combos etc theyr just having fun with a game and have never tried to learn it or actively improve and I think thats cool tbh. It makes me think they play casually with mates and have a good time and dont rage about wifi lag and eaten inputs when they lose haha.
The Captain Falcon VS Falco was my favorite part, lol
Poppt 1, there are some characters that do not have good out of shield options, such as greninja, so some characters don’t rely on shield in neutral
Jordan looks like jeff bezos in this thumbnail
Funny enough what I've also found in lower GSP ranges is how doing certain mixups that work in higher GSP ranges just...don't work. And that sometimes, they do some off the wall shenanigans that I'm like "who the fuck does THAT?" Lmao
Great idea for a video. I learned a lot about why I suck 😂😂😂
I love these kinds of videos from you poppt, you’ve helped me improve as a player so much and I’m very excited to start going to tournaments!

It’s funny to see the GSP difference from Australia to America... the 7 mil in Australia feels like 2-3 mil in America, or maybe poppt1 is just showing how bad I am. 😂
This video is awesome for me. SSBU was my first time playing Smash. I got my Switch just a few days before Piranha Plant came out. I was legit trapped in 250-300k gsp until I started watching you and zack. I now have characters as high as 10.48 million. Watching every one of you guys' videos always looking for pro strats 🤣
Please do this type of video again it helped me so much i am have been stuck at my current GSP for so long and this helped teach me how to play better
This was hilarious, just how correct you were with some of their habits
Idk how you didn't face Little Z at 3 mil....
This is shockingly helpful even for someone at 10 mil gsp. These habits get smaller but I think mainly people's movement just gets better and they can get away with bad habits.
I like that he didn’t just clip these low gsp people, he just played them as lame as humanly possible
Plot twist: these low gsp players are actually other undercover players pretending to be bad for videos
aw damn, i totally mash a defensive option right after whiffing
Alternate title, Smurf Smash, lol
I'm always afraid that shielding too much will break my sheild if an attack lands on it, so I don't shield as much as I should, thanks Poppt!
I remember back in my Brawl days as a kid I never even knew dodging was something you could do for the longest time. Eventually I started trying to beat Tabuu on the hardest difficulty and I was so confused about how you're supposed to survive his screen nuke attack. I think I looked online and that was how I discovered the dodging. These days I still struggle to use the basic shield, though.
And yeah eventually I became hella pro at beating Tabuu, he had no chance against my Lucas.
I would've been so much better if I'd done that. Kirby down b beat it and that's how I beat it
i saw this and thought it was guessing your gsp lol
Poppt, what about a series where you kill with everyone’s ____ move. Like with everyone down B or something
Really good video concept! I feel like I learned some stuff from this, thank you!❤️
Cool throwback to Low gsp to Elite Smash series by Little Z
Note: you don't gain a lot of gsp if you're in low gsp hell. You do gain more than higher gsp but it's probably closer to 300k not a million gsp per game. You get a million gsp if you don't play the character much. Eventually if you win and lose enough games with that character your gsp gain will balance out in the lower hundreds thousands.
I've found in the low gsps if you get multiple in a row you start increasing in gsp exponentially
I love you poppt!
