I just wanted to comment on what you said at the end of the video. You may be right that not all people receive so much kindness. But they should. Each and every person deserves that kind of kindness. That includes you! I hope that with time you will come to accept that you are worthy of this kindness. Let it sink in and help you change how you see yourself! Sending hugs. Glad Ur back and absolutely NO pressure to create content. You first us second! Hugs!

Ah, love the chaotic energy of the petticoat deliberations😅
That project was quite the undertaking, after such a long break. I'm really, really impressed you pulled that through in such a short time.
And please don't worry about answering comments. I think the people who take the time and have the necessary empathy to write them (maybe often based on personal experience), understand that answering all of them would cost you an enormous amount of emotional energy, you just don't have at the moment. And making you uncomfortable by putting pressure on you is the last thing any of us would want.
You just do your thing and 'find your groove' again, as we liked to say in my misspent youth 🙂

The biggest wins with depression and anxiety are being able to do the "normal" things again. I'm so proud of you for jumping back in. It can be so hard to feel out of practice and just not good at the things you used to do. Getting through a whole sewing project and making videos about it is such a huge step. We missed you and we're so glad to have you back. 🥰

I will never not watch one of your videos. I learn so much from them and I am always in love with the finished product. I used to be a terrified sewist (like, I would literally call my mom and make her come sit with me) and as much as she would tell me perfection is not required, I couldn't understand that. Then seeing you point out your mistakes, talk about what you would do differently if you made it again, and seeing how beautiful the outcome is made me more confident in my sewing. It made me able to unpack my sewing machine again after my mom passed away and try again. I don't make masterpieces, but I have made a few serviceable and quite pretty pieces.

    Hey Angela
You were my first costuber I got introduced to via the CZcams algorithm some 7 years ago (I believe). Your content gave me the confidence to sew my first dress ever. It was my graduation dress for a school I attended and I had one week to complete it - I'm still mostly proud of it and I'm now in an apprenticeship to become a seamstress! 🎉
You taught me so many techniques and you also let me down the historical costuming and dress rabbithole - which led me to dress late victorian everyday. Thank you for your inpact in my life! ❤ And I share some of your mental health struggles aswell - so I feel very connected to you - and let me tell you, I missed you so much!
I was checking on your youtube site, blog and in general scouring the internet for news about you ever since your last video every couple months 😊.
    So glad your back!
PS: No need to respond! Maybe consider giving this comment a heart if it brought a little happy smile to you, if that's too much aswell that is fine aswell 😊

loved this! you might think the dress is clunky, but honestly, given how little time you had and the time away from sewing, i think you did a fantastic job with it. it definitely screams "dragon mum" in my opinion. as someone with raging anxiety and depression, I appreciate how difficult some things can be (like daily living). but I really respect you, and your drive to not let it totally rule your life. highs and lows will always happen, but the fact that you're strong enough to get back out there and continue is something to be proud of. As someone who grew up sewing alongside a perfectionist mother and sister, I simply adore your "find a way and get it done" attitude. It took a long time for my mom to accept that me sewing that way was ok too. Making and learing from mistakes are the most important part of skill building, not being perfect. We need more realistic folks showing that it is ok and fun to learn along the way. Thank you Angela for being willing to put yourself out there like that. It is truly appreciated.

Oh babes, you're breaking my heart at the end! You SO deserve the love you receive!! I know I speak for many of us when I say we follow because your love and passion shines through in everything you do. I do understand the depression leading to a lack of making, I myself have been struggling with that a lot. Without trauma dumping, I have a progressive chronic illness that lead to me no longer being able to hold a job in summer 2019, and not really being able to vend or do customs by 2021. I've been fighting to get disability income and that whole process is "prove you're worthless" which can be incredibly demoralizing, so that piles on top and makes it hard to make things.
I'm sure my friends are screaming to take my own advice here, but even if it's sewing square quilts or cloth napkins, starting things you never intend to finish just because the feel of the fabric in your hands is comforting, heck even finger painting... Doing someone to scratch the creative itch can help spark that fire of passion again. As silly as it sounds, I decided to try making a franken-plushie backpack based on one in the boarder print of a lolita skirt, decided I hated it, and made a plushie for a friend that complimented it instead. Then I spent weeks making single Kandi bracelets in pride flag colors and each color of the rainbow to pass out because I know how much serotonin I get seeing the look of surprise joy I get from people that I give them to. That pushed me to actually go to the pride festival here when I haven't attended in years because of my health/anxiety! I handed out all but 6 to people who's outfit matched them and got a lot of joyful cries and so much enjoyment in just the 2-3 hours I was able to be there. Now I want to make whole cross stitch style pictures from pony beads even though I know I'll never finish a project and end up passing them on in the ADHD crafter group! 😂
I guess what I'm saying is, take your time on big things or make tiny things that bring you a bit of joy, we'll still be here to cheer you on. ❤

Love you so much Angela! Take as much time as you need, we'll be here whenever you decide to come back. Your health is the most important thing. And the dress is lovely as always! That overlay on the underdress is stunning, the effect almost looks like velvet from a distance.
I struggle with a lot of mental health struggles and it's a silly thing but this quote from Katrina in animal crossing always makes me feel a little bit better: "Remember that bad times are just times that are bad." It helps me put in perspective that even when things feel the worst, that time will continue and there will be good days again too. ♥️

I'm so happy to see you sewing again and posting here! Finding joy in things you love is one of the hardest things (along with all of the other things) of depression. I don't know about anyone else, but I will be a happy subscriber and watcher to your channel as long as you are willing to share with us. Take your time and be gentle with yourself. 💖 I hope you find all the ruffles you want in your life.

  • @elizabethsaltmarsh8306

Sending you a big hug. I'm proud of you for making something, and for recognizing how amazing it is that you did. Creativity isn't always an easy journey, but doing something - even when it's less than your personal best work or what you imagined - is worthwhile. I'm grateful you chose to share your process and make a video of what you made - it looks beautiful and is absolutely inspiring for those of us who are still developing these skills. (I definitely need to remember to put horsehair braid in my Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure cosplay to help shape the hem and front opening, so I totally learned something from your process).
-Just a member of the community you've built, feeding you back some of the energy you've already put out into the world.

A beautiful comeback project to exercise your creative muscles! ❤️
Cant wait to see what else you create and are kind enough to share with us, always a delight to see what you work on.
Seriously, your creativity and vulnerability you share with us is beautiful. It helps me treat myself with kindness while i struggle with my own mental health. And it helps keep me inspired as im working on my own sewing projects.
If you decide to go back to a monthly schedule or just pop back every year or so to video dump what you worked on, always a pleasure to watch and see.

Congrats on finishing this project!! It turned out so beautiful! I’ve been subscribed since I saw your rufflly skirt tutorial on Pinterest years ago and I have been amazed by all your creations since then. As a person with chronic depression and anxiety issues, I feel qualified to say that you are a badass for pulling yourself out of the low to get back to your passion. Even if you need to take more breaks, I hope you continue on your path out of depression. It’s so hard to do but focusing on the positives is the best way to keep your momentum. Receiving kindness is a positive and you deserve as much as you’re getting and more.

Girl ! The amount of joy I've felt when I saw your new video ! You were one the first (if not the first) fashion channels I've ever watched, and you've inspired me to start sewing. You are lovely, truly, and loved by many people, icluding me, even if we've never met. I know for a fact that when depression hits, it's truly hard to do anything, and the appreciation that people have for you may feel like not much, or even undeserved, but know that we're here for you, and we wait with glee for each new video.
Also, I hope that Plastique wins, and Shannel gets one star !

I read your blog style posts in the link provided. Wow, I am so glad I read them because it helped me. It sounds sort of like my life. I have suffered off & on depression most of my life. Time is flying by. It's been like a blur the last few years. I lost my mom, then my sister, my aunt, 2 of my senior dogs, & a few friends. I haven't sewn since last December. In fact, I have a pattern on material that needs to be finished getting cutting out. If you go into my sewing room, it looks like some sci fi movie where people just leave their house & everything is left just as it is. I have gained so much weight & don't feel like doing anything at all. I get migraine headaches all the time. I don't take any kind of medication because I am relying on my faith. Everyone is different & has to do what is right for them. I also get seasonal depression in the summer, not winter. I love cold weather & it's mostly hot in southern Texas, 8 to 9 months out of the year. I know when the cooler weather comes back, I will once again feel better. I also am learning so much in this season. I am learning to live to please me instead of everyone else. I almost killed myself living for others. Now if I want to make a video, I just do it for me. I don't even care if anyone watches. I just do what I want. I live how I want & I don't care anymore what people think. I was raised by a mom who was always so put together. My stepdad was a military man & put too much pressure on us all. We each grow to find our own way. I pray you find your happy space in life again. Your dogs are so cute. Posie is such little darling. I love dogs. I say all this not so much as to bring attention to myself but to let you know that a lot of us are going through the same type of things & we understand. Ive learned in life not to beat myself up. I am doing the best that I can. PS: Been following you for years. Have often said prayers for you. Much love & tender care.

I'm a relatively new subscriber since I happened upon your dragon dress sometime last year and subbed then. You make wonderful creations! Honestly I think it looks fantastic! As hard as it can be, we all need to remember to give ourselves some kindness especially when we are struggling to feel like we deserve it. Take that moment to see yourself as a scared little puppy in a big scary place, who just needs a gentle pat on the head and let yourself except that kindness from yourself. That's something I've been working on for myself, so I thought I'd share. :) No reply needed, sharing in your video how much you appreciate the viewers, supporters and commenters was very sweet.

The world needs more kindness, but you have created here a space of kindness for both yourself and for us to share with each other. I hope you and whoever else that may read this comment knows you are worthy of kindness and respect regardless of what you or others might think. Often the voices in our head that say terrible things are louder than the nice voices from other people, just know those voices are only telling you lies and find one kind thing to say to yourself a day. You made an amazing dress Angela! I loved the way it came out and so what if it’s a little costumey, I think it leans more towards some kind of court regalia from a fantasy novel. I would love to see a matching surcoat, and heck yes to more dragon themed outfits! Those photos at the end just really captures the vibes of an evil but beautiful queen and I love it. Hopefully we will be seeing you again soon, sending you big virtual hugs and a huge we’re glad your back cheer!
