  • The latest and greatest L.E.D. Lighting technology, OPT7 Fluxbeam makes one of the greatest and reliable product that you can upgrade from. But.....When an easy task becomes about impossible to do to german engineering, sometimes you got to think outside the box to make it work which thats what this video is all about.
    The OPT7 led on most cars except for this Jetta is usually a plug and play install job. The MK5 Jetta however, the OPT7 positive and negative cable needed to be tapped in, soldered and welded together on external headlight connector harness so the H7 light bulb Socket connections. By the way, my opinion of putting any LED headlight bulb into a projector style headlamp housing is not all there yet and still would recommend to use an H.I.D. Kit to optimize light output out of the projector.
    Enjoy the crisp video quality which some parts was filmed using 4K and 1080p cameras.
    note after months of use we can no longer recommend OPT7 led lights. The led bulbs do not have longevity and usually burn out within a few months of use. We now recommend Novsight 16000k lumens found on eBay. These lights are more reliable and are 2x brighter than the OPT7 bulbs at more than half the cost. Link provided will be for H7 bulbs. But are available in most sizes.

      A E I would start making those housing for those German cars if the demand is high enough along with a few other ideas around the car I have. I am. Currently working on big project but once that’s done, more videos will be up including another bmw e46 which Modded high beams into fitting this brand LED’s that has pretty much the same housing as VW. Lastly, there is a better LED I’ve been installing I. A few cars and with projectors in it. NightEye 6K, 80w, 12,000Lumens which is double the light output of these opt7 .

      Count me in as interested in an adapter for these cool LED lights for the VW. I currently have a set of the LEDs and they are just sitting here as I'm not interested in going through this process.

    • @merkmanin85
      @merkmanin85  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s less work but as of just slap it on and install, don’t think it will happen like that. Still need a way to secure it to those clips and still need to make sure the led is position exactly like the bulb filament so light beam reflects proper.

    Is These adaptors exist somewhere? Can you just install the bulb it self or need the cancel box to be plug ? Thank you very much.

    • @merkmanin85
      @merkmanin85  Před 6 lety +1

      TDIMAXDIESEL on this Jetta and some other brand German cars, No!, you can not just twist and throw LEDs in there. Someone did mention on the comments that a company does sell a kit that is plug and play and tried to throw in it in my face BUT..... the LUMEN output that the led product is so weak that probably is just as bright as stock halogens and all your getting out of that kit is just the color Change, and that’s if led is bright enough to reflect off housing equally so it may Actually produce less light then your factory halogens now and you play triple the amount of money cause that company is made in France. I SAW on AMAZON and EBAY that they sell HID and LED H7 adapter sockets for the housing. I’ve tried those on a halogen BMW E46 sedan and on a 2010 Mercedes e350 and still had to mod it with the dremel in someway and drill holes through it on the side of adapter so LED can be adjusted through reflector for maximum brightness. At the end of what I typed, you still need a lot of Calmness, time, and the hands to do this mod and that also the mod will be determined on the quality and LUMEN output brightness of the LEDs that are being installed. Most of the LED drivers should have something where it will be error free that will not trigger fault for bulb failure on dash .?

    Did you reinstall the dust caps? If so did you have any problems with heat/premature failure?

    • @merkmanin85
      @merkmanin85  Před 4 lety +1

      I did reinstall dust caps on. 1 of the opt-7 led failed after a year. Replaced set with different brand called night eye which was a brighter set of leds (12,000 Lumens) and fan on the led is sideways so with that set, No Issues as of current date . Wish CZcams can allow updates to same video cause I would update it but is what it is .

      @merkmanin85  Před 4 lety +1

      So far the led brands I’ve been using without issues is nov sight and nighteye which was bought out by nov sight. Opt7 several cars I’ve installed them on and doesn’t mater how proper you set them up, they’ve burnt out so .

    Hey guys. So i have those exact same bull shit headlights lol.
    I got h7 led bulbs. Took that grey twist plug for the main light out. Got adaptors and one of those adaptor are the ones with the 2 wires that are made into it.
    Anyways got the bulb in sitting tight. But wen i plug it in they dont turn on.
    If i connect them to my high beam plug and turn my bright lights on they work.
    Please help

    • @merkmanin85
      @merkmanin85  Před 3 lety

      I’m gonna say u gotta do your voltage checks. Are u getting voltage when low beams are turned on at headlamp connector? From there, are you getting power and ground at prongs that adapter prongs making contact? Maybe inspect contact points of headlamps and make sure Polarity is correct at contact points. Becomes electrical diagnosis but usually turns out to something stupid that you laugh at later on .

      @@merkmanin85 the regular headlights work perfectly. I have taken the 2 wires that power the normal headlights and connected them directly to the led plug and still nothing. Its the highbeam plug has 3 wires but obviously only 2 slots for the bulb its like im missing a ground but the main headlight doesnt have a ground
