    Please what are the advantages and disadvantages

      Advantages:
      *For lighter loads, a capacitor-run setup might be sufficient and provide adequate performance for the motor and this is more cost-effective than other means of using single -phase to run a 3phase motor
      Disadvantages:
      *Reduced Power: Running a 3-phase motor on single-phase power with a capacitor will generally lead to a decrease in power output.
      *Lower Starting Torque: Three-phase motors naturally have good starting torque. Bypassing the three-phase power with a capacitor can reduce this critical starting power.
      *Not ideal for all motors: This method may not be suitable for all three-phase motors, especially those designed for heavy-duty applications.

    what do u mean by soft starter ?

    • @obloni_Electrical
      @obloni_Electrical  Před 2 měsíci

      a soft starter is a device (starter) that regulates the electric current supplied to a motor during startup. Unlike a traditional direct on line starter which applies full voltage immediately, a soft starter gradually increases the voltage over a set time period. This provides a smoother and more controlled acceleration for the motor.

    Please what does the +/-5% means

    • @obloni_Electrical
      @obloni_Electrical  Před 2 měsíci

      The +/-5% tolerance is the percentage deviation allowed from the nominal value.
      Example, for a 25uF. +/-5% capacitor,
      The acceptable range of capacitance is calculated as follows:
      Lower Limit:
      = 25uF - (5/100 x 25uF) = 23.75uF
      Upper Limit:
      = 25uF + (5/100 x 25uF) = 26.25uF
      Therefore, an ideal 25uF capacitor with +/- 5% tolerance will actually have a capacitance between 23.75uF and 26.25uF.
