Poor gearbox. upshifts can be done by lifting the throttle slightly, no need to use the clutch. Downshift requires clutch. would be great with rev matching

Looks like he was using the clutch but but not rev matching which is still rough on the gearbox. Definitely missed a few shifts though. Kind of surprised the car didn’t have more wheel hop from him just slamming it into first.

A "dog leg" box is a gearbox in which the first gear is on the left and back next to the driver (where second gear normally is) instead of left and forward, in such a way as to have second - third and fourth - fifth aligned in the gearshift grid
@@TonyGoesToFriool A dog box is a gearbox with straight cut gears instead of helical cut gear which you find in a road car. The reverse gear is straight cut in a road car hence the loud noise.

@@riccardoponzio6568 Oh no, I do see that the reason he couldn't quite get it into gear during downshifts can be attributed to mechanical issues! My issue is that there is no throttle blipping to at least make the successful downshifts smoother. Nonetheless, I love the car and the excellent interior shots.
@@riccardoponzio6568 Ahh, understood if it was at the crew's request then! Hopefully they can get the issues sorted out so it can be driven at maximum attack next time.
@Blin Kurwa Dog box or not, it's not at all difficult to heel-toe three pedals to match the revs. In any case, it's been cleared up with the actual driver of the car. His crew asked him not to due to issues with the gearbox and front diff. I'm more than certain he's definitely capable of smoother downshifts if his crew allows it.
