Huluf talks about how much of her personal journey is part of the story in Self, the personal themes of belonging and the desire for acceptance that the film explores, and the incredible details that are part of Self's character design.
Self premieres February 2nd on Disney+.
About Searit Huluf:
Searit Huluf was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She studied at UCLA’s Theater, Film and Television school, concentrating on screenwriting and animation. After graduating, Searit moved to the Bay Area and began working in Production Management at Pixar Animation Studios.
Since her time at Pixar, Searit has worked as a Production Coordinator on “Incredibles 2” and “Turning Red,” as well as some of Pixar’s SparkShorts films. She has also directed numerous short narrative and documentary films, such as buna, GAMERS, Exploring Blackness, and 19th Amendment Doc. She most recently directed Pixar’s upcoming SparkShort “Self,” set to release on Disney+ on February 2, 2024.
During her spare time, Searit brews a variety of coffee drinks using multiple espresso machines. She currently resides in Oakland, CA.
