Songs like this are what music is all about. Making people feel good. Love this song.
The violins and the brass section make this song. Put it all together and this song makes you want to get up and get down. The 60s and 70s had great songs and great artists and no auto-tune.
This is a time machine track … takes me back to 1970, 8 years old a no troubles , no bills , no stress and the future was something that could wait … 👍🏴
I’m so glad you guys reacted to this. One of my favorite songs when I was a teenager…63 yrs old now and still love it!
One of my favorites too.
@ Sheryl Burton One of my favorites too.and I was a teenage male who had a huge crush on Rosemary . I thought of her as the ultimate flower power beauty .
I'm 61. Still one of my favorites
Im 29 and I love it too
@@porkypileI’m 14 and I love this song 😭😭
"If You Met Her,, You Would Never Forget Her & Nobody Knows Like Me"
One of the quickest hooks and choruses ever. Love grows where my Rosemary goes. Great line.
Those were the Hippie years when everybody looked "funny". This song was a great hit at the time. Young people used to dance the way you see them on the video.
YES we DID, and I was one of them (no I am NOT in this video. LOL!)
I agree, the vocals to that song and the music video actually reminds me of this song. Good to mention that
The best years.
Hippies faded out in the early 70s.
Yes I was born 1981 but still love this era, awesome time of the 70’s
The lead singer Tony Burroughs holds the record for having 5 - #1 hits in 5 different bands
I snatched money out of my dads hand to buy this single after just ONE listen! ALL the elements of an incredible Pop track. Smooth, Sweet, Infectious
Thank you, S&M. When I tell my friends about Edison Lighthouse, they look at me a little funny... Then I tell 'em about "Rosemary". A stone CLASSIC in any era! I had to hold back a tear, just to think that young people like y'all dig this tune. Every time I hear it is like the first time... only BETTER!
Love this song! Another great song from this era 1968 - 1971 is "Smile a little smile for me" by The Flying Machine (1969) Thanks you guys ☺
I was trying to think of the song title mentioned, 'Smile a little Smile'. Lots of good songs from '69.
YES! Smile is a great tune!
Love this song, so catchy
Takes me back to when life was fun and girls were soooo sexy, without tattoos . Build me a time machine and I will go back and do it all over again.
I recommend Walk Away Renee--by either the Left Banke or the Four Tops. Both versions are great. Born in the 1940s. I still dance like that.
That's a great suggestion. Also love "The Morning After" from The Poseidon Adventure. Remember that one? They were dancing like that on the ship.
@@jons.105 I remember that song and the film.wanted Shelly winters to make it.i liked her.
Southside Johnny and The Asbury Juke do an amazing cover of Walk Away Renee
Thanks for mentioning this song. Hopefully they'll do it. I'm an old and long time Motown fan. I saw Smokey Robinson 4 times, the Supremes twice, Marvin Gaye, all in the early 60's, all in their primes. I saw the 4 Tops as well, and while I love their version of "Walk Away Renee", the Left Banke's version is the one that always does it for me.
Left Banke would be my preferred version….classic
EDISON LIGHTHOUSE, " LOVE GROWS WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES "... MY TEAMMATES AND I ON OUR WAY TO THE GAME SANG THIS SONG AND THE WORDS WERE PART OF US. FANTASTIC GROWING UP TO THIS GEM. P.S. " GRANDMA'S COULD REALLY DANCE "
THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE "MORE TODAY THAN YESTERDAY"..AN TRUE CLASSIC.
Great song! Jan of 1969...
You guys are Killin it! Doing the best songs now..I'm digging it! Peace ✌️
This reminds me of the time I went to a club with my adult daughters. The band played this song. My daughters generation did not know how to dance to this. I turned into an embarrassing dancer like the two girls on this video. Before the song was over many girls joined me. It was fun. Once my daughters found their friends thought I was cool the embarrassment went away.
I love your videos. So upbeat and fun. You are a beautiful amazing couple.
Haha, sounds great! 😄
Yep, that was me too.
Tony Burrows was one of the best voices around at that time.
Massive hit. Ahhhhhh my childhood memories
My mum used to play this all the time when I was a kid , sadly passed away from covid early this year so when i hear his song brings back happy childhood memories , thanks for the reaction guys
When I was a young boy this song was one of the very first to spark romantic feelings in me. Those soaring strings! It wasn't for Rosemary though. It was for Wendy in Disney's Peter Pan!
I always fancied Tinkerbell..
Heres something for you 2 that you will never be able to forget.....these dancers are old enough to be your GRAND PARENTS!!
What memories this song brings up for me! Being a kid, riding around on my Schwinn Stingray bike with my Panasonic transistor radio (in green, my favorite color!) strapped to the handlebar. Or skating down the street on my street skates with my radio in the pocket of my coullots with my earpiece so as not to disturb my neighbors. My older sister had this record and it was a favorite. We both STILL love it to this day. Thank you for doing this video and allowing an old lady to relive part of her childhood again :)
Undoubtedly one of my favorite tunes of all-time. This tune was very popular as I was becoming aware of music on the radio back in 1970. I was only 9 when this hit the charts, but it has always been a favorite and holds a special place for me in my memory. Thanks for the reaction! I really like seeing the reactions from people hearing various tunes for the first time. FWIW - this is a session/studio band and Tony Burrows (the lead singer), actually sang lead on about 5 one hit wonders in a one year period of time. That's remarkable. One of those tunes was by a group called the White Plains - "My Baby Loves Loving." You need to check that out...
Awesome music! I showed this to my grand daughter and told her that was how I danced when I was her age. She just about dropped on the floor laughing!!! This was always a fun song to dance to and it made everyone happy!!!!!! Oh, by the way, my name is Rosemary!! LOL!!!!
Lead singer Tony Burrows also sang lead for the one hit wonder band White Plains (My Baby Loves Lovin) and the group Brotherhood of Man (United We Stand and Save Your Kisses for Me)
"my baby loves lovin'" haven't even thought about this tune in years, great suggestion sir.
Don't think Tony sang on 'save all your kisses. The original band changed totally.
"Beach Baby" by the First Class, is Tony Burrows.
All 3 bands were on a british pop music show at the same time.
@@hankstaines6568 Correct , the BoM got recycled into a new lineup of artists
Fun fact! The lead singer Tony Burrows sang for a lot of bands and at one time sang on the same episode of Top of The Pops in the UK for two different bands who had hit singles in the charts at the time. He sang 'My Baby Loves Lovin' for White Plains, 'Gimme Dat Ding' for The Pipkins, 'Beach Baby' for First Class, 'Let's Go to San Francisco' for The Flower Pot Men and 'United We Stand' for The Brotherhood of Man among others, such a talent but didn't have the same success as a solo artist.
You beat me to it!
Another great song that came out in (1969) to end the greatest decade in Rock & Roll music.
This song was played in the Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow movie "Shallow Hal."
Still going down that rabbit hole that is the 60's. Awesome!
Great reaction as always.
I love that movie specially when Hal sees the real Cadence for the first time and still calls her beautiful
I was around when this first came out. An avalanche of memories!!!
You guys are too cute❤
PLEASE TRUST ME On This One My Music Lovin Brother & Sister,, THE IDES OF MARCH "VEHICLE"..A MUST HEAR CLASSIC!!
Can’t help but sing along with this
The gogo dancing was added later to this video. Also the blonde at the 5:00 mark is Joey Heatherton , actress, singer, 60's star.
I LOVE this song, one of my favorites from the late '60s
I so admire the genuine loving and respectful chemistry between you true lovers of music...."Love Grows" stands the test of time!
Loved this song growing up..still do.❤
Love this song, and when songs like this come on the radio? Yeah I drive my husband crazy dancing like this! ;) We need to go back to a time like this...So much fun..
Wow! No one else has responded to this. One of my favorite songs ever
Heard this on a road trip when I was 6. Stuck in my head ever since.
60's pop at it's best by a one hit wonder band.
I love to see young people listening to the music j grew up with. 💕
I remember dancing to this song and Dizzie (Tommy Roe) at our 7th grade sock hop! He said "her sweet talk's kinda lazy and people say she's crazy."
I've always loved this song!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Oh! so y'all finally got around to Love Grows (Edison Lighthouse), great to see the two of you like it. I change the name from Rosemary to a female name I knows name and it fit her perfectly
Love you guys listening to this bubblegum music.
I love this song. It's great to see people reacting to it 🙏
Oh how I miss those days. Purple bell bottom pants ponchos with bright orange and yellow flowers leather mini skirts with two inch wide belts lace blouse with big puffy sleeves and peace signs on a chain big enough to hurt somebody with hanging around your neck...AND GREAT MUSIC.... THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND !!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 ✌ ✌ ✌
You two are beautiful souls. I love you guys! 💛
I love this video of young women just grooving and shaking their bodies to the beat. They're having so much fun. I haven't heard this song in years. I didn't even recognize the title. Great choice. I'm smiling watching you guys react and the actual performance.
Look how lean and trim everyone was back then before the fast food explosion. Save yourselves, don't eat that crap. I remember those days when this song was brand new. I had just joined the Marines. My shoulder length curly's hit the deck. I've always been that young Hippy kid inside. This was a blast from the past for me. Thanks. My wife and I love you guys.
The lead singer here, Tony Burrows ,had 5 top 40 hit singles with 5 different groups.
The dancer in the music video was arguably even more popular than the song back in the day. Look under the "Dancing Troll" version of the song...
In the era of the WAP song, ( which I DO like) there is this infectious, bouncy, positive love song!! Thank you for listening and encoursging others to exlpore music of different eras!!!
I always loved this song! Thanks for the memories you brought back. Love to you both!!
I loved how you stopped it at a two butts!!!! hilarious! That was accidental I know.
Been singing that for 40 years ♥️. And will always LOVE it 😍
Thank you. What a feel good song!
I was in high school when this song came out. We just loved it and I still do ❤
hard to believe this song is 52 years old ! I remember it on the radio !
Thank you for revisiting some of these very old classics ❤️
A Happy uplifting song a great song
GREAT MUSIC AND I SAY THIS WITH ALDUE RESPECT YOU TWO MAKE A GREAT LOOKING COUPLE 👍
The lead singer was on show with 3 number 1 songs he was a5 number 1 songs in his time starting with the Beatles
The swag from 1970 you can look at any video from that era ...just smiles and fun
Fun fact, most of them young ladies dancing in that video is about 70 + years young, if they're still living, I'm just saying, Groovy Grandma
He's talking about, beauty is in the eye of the beholder
My favorite part is the girls dancing. The loose free movements are so perfect.
I'm 36 and I believe the first time I heard this song was on Shallow Hal when I was in high school. I grew up at a high school that loved old music, so I was lucky to have the appreciate for this song at a young age. I love this song and listen to it often. My sister and I particularly love music from the 60s to 90s, and both of us were raised on Classical, and jazz. I always am happy when other people my age or younger that I show end up enjoying this song too.
Those girls dancing are now around 70 years old. Those were fun times
'Bus Stop' by the Hollies always gave me a similar "people think we're weird but who cares?" 60s vibe.
That lead singer is Tony Burrows. He had 3 hit on the charts at the same time with 3 different groups. Love Grows, My Baby Loves, Love and United We Stand.
Enjoy the AMAZING dancers!! Classic
This is how you do it in the day I was in love with a lady Rosemary
This song was written by the same songwriter as "Build Me Up, Buttercup". It's the first #1 his of the 70s, and its sound seems to have this unique position smack in the middle of early 60s pop/Motown and psychedelic rock. I think about it all the time.
The expression on your face at the beginning - priceless
My paternal grandmother was a Rosemary. My brother & I would sing this to her when we were trying to sweet-talk her.
hi a couple of trys for you guys the supremes "stoned love" and another of my favs Candi Staton young hearts run free your reactions are great from the heart and love your diversity
Stoned love is a great song
Good suggestions
This is my get ready for work song. Retail sales can suck .. But this song helps me share the love in life.
You guys are great……ever since I was a little kid and still to this day….leaves a lump in my throat
I wanna die with this song.
What a great selection!
music at its best my how i loved the 70s great times
Couple of bits of trivia that I at least find interesting:
Edison Lighthouse was a "studio band"-it was all studio musicians who were basically put into a band by the record company.
The lead singer, Tony Burrows, was in several of that kind of band. In 1970, he had hits with five songs in the UK, all of which were different bands, and it was those bands only hit-so he was a "one-hit wonder" five times in a year. The clips of him singing here was from a BBC show "Top of the Pops" (the British equivalent of "American Bandstand"). One week, he appeared as part of three separate groups in the same show.
This is an addictive tune! I always loved it. Great pick! New Subscriber....
❤️❤️🥰❤️❤️ I love you, too, Shawn & Mel!!! ❤️❤️🥰🥰❤️❤️
I’m surprised they didn’t comment on their dancing lol
Awesome song! Love your channel! Nice to meet you! David Gudlaugson
Go go dancers... also, there were cages up on the ceiling with more go go dancing. "Nobody knows like me". That's was the ever!!!
U guys R such Romantic Saps!!
Awesome
Still smiling 😃
The lead singer, Tony Burrows, kept joining different bands and having hits with them. His biggest is probably United We Stand, with The Brotherhood of Man.
The best pop song ever written, Tony Macaulay amazing writer/producer 👍😊
So glad you reacted to this song! I don't think I 've seen this song reacted to very often!
The singer of this band came in to my local pub and told me i should be a superstar coz of my looks, jeez. This was over 20 years later, menopause etc has now affected and a hysterectomy so he’d think again, 👵🏻
1971; a year where there was SO MUCH good music in all genres...
I am old enough to remember when this came out !!!!!!!
Shawn and Mel, you're amazingly entertaining...Keep bouncing
This dance is called: (The Jerk!!)
That's my uncle Andy, the guitarist next to keyboard player, he still sings. He was 16 when he followed his music career
Good old days
Edison Lighthouse’s 1970 song-Their big one wonder hit
Great reaction.. a similar tune that I heard used in a new commercial just yesterday, is "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again", by The Fortunes.. it's worth checking out..
That's a great fng song.
I love it that you all are loving music I grew up with
