my God, this song is so well written, the words in each verse concisely provide a different, but intensely relatable context for the ultimate greatest struggle of the human condition, in the main verses. It stands out in the maiden catalogue, because as great as the other songs are, they usually relate to a specific context, or historical occurrence, best transmitted, via heavy metal.
The semantics, in the song, are experienced to varying degrees of intensity, by every human being. It wouldn't surprise me, if it was 1 of the songs that has the most covers, in music history, because its message, transcends music genres
Iron Maiden is great poetry set to a galloping bassline with killer guitars and Bruce's outstanding vocals.
