I can't believe some people think that this is clutter! It's so nice and neat and organized! Just goes to show that people have different viewpoints. I think its absolutely wonderful, Jen :)
We all have different definitions of what is the right amount. The important part is that it works for you.
Hi Jen! Loyal watcher for 3+ years. Love this office space. I live in Europe and your organization has helped me settled into the tiny apartments with ease. Your advice and tips have made travelling so much easier. Plus, I love all the zip bags I get from around as a nice reminder of my travels.
I like how you displayed your medals...your collection is growing! Personally, I love how your videos have a longer time length. You're a very pleasant and wonderful person to watch and I enjoy all of your videos and blogs. You're just awesome and thanks for sharing your new desktop organization!
Hiring a professional organizer would probably help to make your office more streamlined. When you panned the camera up toward the end, I could feel the clutter closing in on me. My mother is a lover of things too and it tends to weigh a person down in a lot of ways. :/

It's always good to be a work in progress, we all are right? Yes I thought it was cluttered. A lot of people would be amazed at what they can do with less. None of us really need everything that have, let alone a lot of excess. :)
such a lovely space. i like that it is organised but still has plenty of personal touches to make it feel homey and comfortable.
After having a second monitor at an older job, I can't even imagine going back. You really don't need it for surfing the web, if you're a blog writer or editing video, it makes a huge difference.
You repeat yourself a LOT. Edit yourself between the intro to the video and the actual start. This video is way to long for the content.
I agree, I love watching you Jen, but maybe edit a bit more carefully?

Well as you said 10 times in the video you have 2 screens for editing etc. So why didn't you use it to edit this video? You repeated the hutch story twice in 5 minutes and it was quite long. I'm just saying. Otherwise I quite like your videos
Fast forward and skip that part. Simple as that.
I wanted to be very clear about my reasons for the two screens since I get so many questions about it.
I got a lamp just like that but smaller at a yard sale for $2.00 unopened. I love it for doing nails.

I recently made the move to two monitors and now I wonder why I waited so long! Next I need to tackle my unruly cords .... thanks for the inspiration.
I love the two screens; however, that side of the room is starting to look like a flea market IMHO--but if it works for you, clutter on.
I'm glad you finally showed your new desktop organization, but this video is crazy long for what you are talking about and you go way off topic when you start showing your basket and new lights and stuff, its a little distracting. You need to get better at editing your dialogue and stay on point.
its just the way she roles, she has always had long videos and i quite enjoy the extra chat :)

hayley louise I dont mind the length so much as when she gets off topic. She does it a lot and its sometimes hard to follow and can be distracting like I said. I like Jen and her videos but I just think that staying on the topic of the video she is filming is something she still needs to work on.
MyViewFromMyCouch But isn't that what we all do in conversations? That is part of her charm and style.
I personally like that stuff. She avoids all of the extra questions that way too, I would imagine. I understand why some don't though. Sometimes it depends on the time I have. It is Sunday morning here and I have time to relax on the couch with a cup of coffee. I have 4 kids and many times don't have the time.
Thank you for taking your time and filming these videos for us! I love your office so organized and cozy. I love that what you show us is real and it works. I of course don't know you personally but you and Don seem like wonderful people. You're very much in love and have a beautiful life that you both work very hard for. Don't let jealous people hurt you. For anyone to say you are not a Christian they must not have learned that God says Thou shall not judge others!!! I would cut out the comments on all these videos and just let people ask questions on Facebook. Love, Love this channel can't wait to see more organizing videos. I would love to see how you stay on top of all the outside spring cleaning and overall home maintenance. I always feel like I'm forgetting to do something!

Can you tie your ribbons on the rod rather than hanging them from the hook? That will probably bring them up to the level you want so they aren't hidden anymore.

Jen how do you not feel overwhelmed with all that clutter. There's so much, I personally wouldn't be able to work in such a cluttered environment.
Shes the opposite .. Hoarders feel insecure with limited things around them
Keep in mind that she does NOT work, so it can be as cluttered as she wants ;)
admire your patience with organising things. I usually give up half way through!
I find that breaking projects down into sections can help.

Two monitors is more than reasonable, my boyfriend has a quad setup PLUS a larger TV screen off to the side... now that is crazy XD
He probably works though.
We have an area with 2 monitors too. It is handy for all of us in the house for different reasons, for example, bill paying. Also, if you are typing something up and using resources on another screen, you can have them both up at the same time. It is very handy for those that blog and edit as well.

The times I´ve said I would like you to be my friend I´ve meant it... I think haviing a friend like you makes anybody be a better person and value life more and just happier. I really like how you have stream lined your desk but kept it very personal. I am working on that right now. Also, in the last few videos (on all your channels) I have noticed your hair is looking great. Very full and longer then normal.

To hang your medals higher: Does the rod come off of the end holders? If so, then just hand the medals from the rod and use the hooks for something else.
Hi Jen, have you thought about getting "risers" for your monitor & iMac? Ergonomically you should be looking straight at a screen rather than downwards. Glad to see that you're getting a new office chair too, ideally it should be height adjustable too. As you're spending a lot of time at your desk (as I do), it's important for your health All the best x
Thanks for the update Jen! I am moving this coming week, and when I get settled and start putting my office/craft room together, I think I am going to steal a couple of your new ideas here for my own space. I have been trying to find a system for my needs to be filed stuff, and I like the idea of the two drawer system. It keeps it out where you need it without having piles of paper everywhere. Also, I think I will move my daily pens and pencils into a drawer too, I usually keep them on top of the desk, but I like the look of them in the drawer better as well.
I am looking forward to the upcoming series on your clothing and accessories, you always have great tips and ideas.

Good job Jen! Thanks for sharing. :) I think you should hang your marathon medals by looping the ribbons directly over the bar and using your special knotting technique as opposed to using the hooks that hang off the bar. It would probably lift them up by 3 inches or so.

Looks good! I had been using 2 monitors at work for a few years, but for some reason (duh) it didn't dawn on me to set up a 2nd one at home until last year. It makes things so much easier. I had an extra monitor from my Windows PC that I hooked up to my iMac. So I didn't have to spend the money on an Apple monitor, just ordered an adapter cable from Amazon for a few bucks. I also use craft mats as desk protectors...so much nicer when writing. Of course, the best part of your setup is that moptop under your desk!
Brilliant use of craft mat, I ran down to the sewing area and got the craft mat for my 3 part sectional glass desk
I must give Toni from ABFOL props for that inspiration!

Did you know that file cabinets need to have the heaviest items in the bottom drawer (and you need to fill it up first)? That way it won't tip over. Really important (even small cabinets).
That's a good tip. This piece is super heavy and weighted at the bottom already but it's better to be safe than sorry.
I really liked the lamp actually it seems really functional! Also, the new little filing cabinet looks like a great out of the way storage system! :)

Hire a professional organizer?! Wow I can't believe that was a suggestion for you of all people. I LOVE watching your videos it seems like your home is anything but cluttered and to be honest I think you could be a professional organizer.
I think the new desktop setup looks really nice, and it makes a lot of sense to me, too. Great job, Jen, and thanks for sharing! :) P.S. I noticed your terrarium in your kitchen has really grown! The one plant is through the top. If you could, could you do an update to your terrarium video, on how to trim/prune/update terrariums? That would be great! :)

so you have two screen for one computer? each screen then shows the same thing?? I'm confused with how that works and how making two screens available is more efficient.
No the second screen is an extension of the first - just makes more room to spread things out.

I have to ask this when you have two screens how to do you go from one screen to another I just have always wondered
The computer is just configured to see the two screens as one large screen area, rather than two separate. :o)

I was planning to make my guest room into a home office/guest room/craft room. The only problem is that doing this will be expensive. I love pottery barn but it's expensive. Is there something that is of the same quality but less expensive? I looked but did not find anything... My new room will have a day bed, a craft table, desk, and storage for scrapbooking. If there are any good places to see that is affordable please let me know, thanks!

I love to watch your videos Jen. But, wow, you have so much stuff. Just lots and lots of stuff. I find it fascinating how people with different personalities choose to fill their lives with different things. I love to organize and plan like you do but prefer to have clear, open spaces and just less stuff in general around the house. Clutter makes me very anxious for some reason. But, to each his (or her) own. BTW, I DO like the longer videos. :) Thanks!

You can get really shallow clear acrylic organizers for your drawers. I think I found them in the bathroom accessories area. **~Karen
