Maybe recommend a new hobby or something so they can make friends to talk to? Sometimes people repeat things when they are older because of an aging issue if they forget they told you.
I hope someone gave Ashley a big bear hug after this episode.

Peniel is so sweet trying to cheer Ashley up when she started to tear up. I actually heard this episode first on podcast, and my eyes were teary too when I heard Ashley started to cry :(
But we all know that Ashley was always daddy's little girl and her brother was her mother's baby boy, so it just make scenes she is much more closer to her dad.
I wonder if it would be possible for BM, Peniel and Ashley parents would meet and play golf together one day since they all love golf so much lol

There's also the poignancy of listening to them talk about how long they haven't visited their parents because of the pandemic - as kpop idols, they live in Korea, but their parents and siblings are still in the US. My dad past away when I was 11 years old, so never get to greet him or say i love u, so please hug them everyday and say 'i love you' and compliment & appreciate them ~~

Listening to this make me realize that some people are blessed with relationship with their dads. But me, I probably don’t have the best relationship with my dad. I’m not saying he’s bad person, but he kinda turns his back on me and my mother even though we live together, after my older brother passed away. He was 21 at that time and I was 20. We were still in college and also worked at the same time. so my dad, my brother and me were helping with the financial situation at home. but then my brother passed away. I understand that my dad were shocked. I decided to quit my school and focus on work. But things started to go downhill for our relationship when I heard myself he said not once, but every time he met his friends or colleagues until now “my child is now gone and I don’t have anyone to be proud of”. I feel like that’s his real feeling. That words hurt me more than I imagine. I try not to hate my dad or lost my respect towards him, but it’s hard when he literally change. He’s working so at first he pays for the electricity or water and I pay for the rest, like the groceries etc. I’m fine with it, I feel like I’m still helping the family like I used to. Sometimes I would pay for taxes and also electricity and water, thinking that he probably just forgot. But the thing is, he remembered and choose not to pay and doesn’t say anything until I ask him for it. His relationship with my mom is also collapsing as my mom now sleeping with me in my room. I don’t know if I can continue be like this.
So, for those who have good relationships with your dad, good for you😊

I hope you can continue to stay strong and not let your dad push you to the wrong path. He's an adult and he comes across as selfish and immature by behaving this way. There's nothing you can really do for someone like that. Your dad should seek help if thats what he needs. You seem very sweet. Know that you're doing your best and continue to look out for your mom. 💕

My relationship is sour with my dad as well , we fought a lot physically and verbally.., but his still my dad!!, i still respect him and i know im not the favorite son but it hurts seeing different treatments.. but in my case at least my father never turn his back towards his family im lucky i guess... stay strong Rjune im wishing u and ur family the best u can do it!

My father is like Peniel's.
1) He usually doesn't make a firm decision on the spot re giving permissions or not. He tells us to ask our mom too. If it's a yes from her, then most of the time it's a yes from him and vice versa.
2) He is just a year younger than Peniel's and loves sweets too...like reaaallly LOVES it. Once, he had a sudden health complication which we suspect he got from eating 4-5 chocolate bars in one sitting!
3) My dad is still active at his age - great! But sometimes doesn't realize he's not that young anymore. He tends to work on stuff his mind can manage but his body can't. Makes us worried sometimes. Really appreciate him though.

When Ash was telling us about how his father eats alone, I suddenly thought of my dad who passed away more than a year ago and remembered how, for years, mostly ate on his own because we rarely ever eat as a whole family on one table at the same time. It made me burst into tears realizing how lonely it must've been for him, even tho all of us are used to not eating together. Man, the regret and pain I feel. If only I could turn back time but I know there is no use feeling this way now.

I live far from my parents since i was 13 years old. I feel bad everytime i call my parents but end up talking with my mom only. When my father pick up the phone, the first thing i ask is my mom. I only talk to him for one minute. I just can't talk with my father. I cried everytime i talk to him. I even cry whenever he asked me how am i doing. I feel bad for him😢😭

Dad promoted as an angel when i was 2 so i never really knew how to have a father figure. Every father's day, i kinda feel indifferent and i sometimes feel bad abt it. Today, i stayed away from facebook coz yeah, tl is flooded with all the cheesy greetings. Glad this ep is not the usual father's day tribute. It's just fun and lite. Ngl, eyes felt misty when Ashley cried. Glad Peniel and BM handled it like a real manbesties. 😊

I kind of relate to what Ashley is saying and getting to understand her better. Personally, I am a grown up now but in that state too and every time I really miss my mum now that she's in the States. She left my home country Uganda in 2013.
Honestly Ashley is such a good daughter.... this is inspiring me to be more loving to my dad!!
I just want to say I LOVE MY DAD! 🥰 We might sometimes argue but as he got old he really became more gentle. I really have a deep connection with my dad. He is the only reason why I try so hard in life.

You guys totally missed the point of the first girl . Yes she was humble and didn't want something too extravagant but too she stated I don't need a car there are plenty of places where public transportation is amazing and wonderful where you don't need a car and it's more of a hassle than it is a blessing
So what I would have said for the first question is: if you have a kind of relationship with your dad where you can just call and talk to him freely I would say to talk to her dad and like hey I dont know what you're going to get me for my birthday but for me I really need......
Or can you talk to your mom and have them talk your dad to make sure they don't get you a car or if they want to do something somewhat extravagant for you to put the money you're going to use for a car in a trust so when I'm done with college and I'm first starting out it'll help me get like my new apartment and furnish excetera excetera or with a downpayment on a house.
Or if he gives you the car, then say thank you so much I really love it and then after some time has passed say hey Dad would you be offended if I sold the car and put the money in the bank so whenever I'm ready to buy a house I'll have this for a downpayment?
On the second call ask dad if they could set a 20-minute rule. So any questions the son has you can set a timer for 20 minutes and they can have a discussion about it for 20 minutes and then at that point the conversation can move on to the next question. The next subject. That way it's not like the kid is going to be sitting there for an hour rollinghis eyes not paying attentio, but he knows there is a time frame for to this conversation. And the dad can become more concise with his answers.

Yep, I think the perspective of getting a car can vary from country to country, I would love to have a car in my city because it's 100 percent a city made for cars and we must just stick to it but If I lived in one of those countries like Japan where they have amazing public transport, a bike would be okay :p
