- Here is a looksee at the brand spankin new Upper Pōhatu trail at Makara Peak MTB Park in Wellington. A nice flowy G4 and when ridden in line with Mid & Lower Pōhatu in to Starfish its a grouse G4 line from the summit all the way down to the carpark.

Esp after a few runs to figure out the run in's to the tables and doubles. Really nice flow
OMG... I was expecting fairly much a 30 second bumpy straight onto Nth face... i hope they get a chance to clean up Ridgeline (without dumbing down the grade)... Ridgeline could also benefit from a T left at the last ridge so riders have a choice of starfish OR Lower Pohau to follow on. (or even better (worse) run a Black zigzagdown to the exit of Trickle Falls but it would be a little tricky fitting in the loob back between the end of Nth face, and that 1st hairpin of Smokin', though I always thought it would b easy to put in a loop off Nth onto smokin right on the last major corner on Nth to avoid that messy exit into Smokin.
Will be interesting to see where they go next in the park for sure

I want to see a janky run from upper leaping to the top of the far south ridge then zig zag down jankily to the possum run... a real slow tech track... Makara could do with a real tech track... like adding steps to Wha Out just after the road crossing...
@@TheButlerNZ I did read the 10 year park plan awhile ago and remember there being ideas for that end of the park
@@thesingletracksurfer It does seem that we're missing a Janky track... Theres Fast, Jumps, Long, Easy... but since they did up Nth Face... no Janky (apary from the firebreak down LLizzard far end.. But it's too steep/quick to warrant the long trip there... If there was a tight janky long run along the top ridge followed by a tight zigzag down to the start of possum run.. I'll even build it...
Course I also want a janky one from the Radome down to red rocks which has the potential to be the longest unbroken run in the city.
