I remember seeing these guys in 2017. During this song, the lead singer literally jumped up right in front of me, grabbed my hand and sang the chorus to this song while he was holding my hand for balance and singing to the crowd! That was the greatest single moment of my life next to seeing Linkin Park!

Red is amazing!! I first discovered them at a concert when they toured with Skillet, Lacey Sturm and a few other bands.
This song is saying the war with the struggles of this world is already over because "i give it all to you", talking to God.

I saw Red live back in 06 right as this album was dropping. No one had heard of them and they were opening for Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace. A total of 5 bands, and they were 1st to go....and they KILLED IT. I bought the album from them that night, amazing guys. Been a fan of them since

Michael Barnes is actually one of the most soulful vocalists I have ever heard, and I've been listening to them since 2006. Not just his singing voice tho, his screams also have just so much passion in them. Whether it's sorrow, anger, fear, regret, you can hear it in his voice. I can't say that about many secular singers, let alone Christian ones. Pieces is the song that I always turn to when I'm having a hard time. It breaks you down and builds you back up in the best way possible. RED will forever be my most favorite band ever.

I loved this album when it came out (and still own it). I always took this song a little different as God is all you're reaching for, so nothing else matters and nothing will hold you down.

from what i can tell this song is talking about a person who lost their faith in God and is trying to find it again at the end of their life. they believe that even though they're repenting for their lost of faith; it's too late to be saved because they're already fast approaching death.

This song and album came out the year I graduated from high school. Before they blew up a collaborative of different churches in the area once a month held together a outreach program to the Jr high students at the local ymca, called fuel. I worked it every single time for several years. Somehow we were able to get them as the band to play. They were awesome and rocked it! I forget who but someone on their team had me send them my pictures from the event. I'm pretty sure I still have the printed pictures in a drawer from my digital camera.

Dude this song is directed at God after running away again. The gospel is finished, its "already over".
I think you got the song’s meaning wrong haha. He may be referring to an addiction or some sort of sin in the first verse. But the chorus is about giving it all to God meting go of himself as a human and letting go of that sin or addiction. “Reaching as I fall. I know it’s already over now.” He’s teaching for Jesus and therefore he knows that all the pain and suffering from that addiction it sin will already be over because God changes and forgives him from all of that. Then the second verse is about the addiction again how it cost him everything. I get the like “take all you want from me” as asking God to take anything He doesn’t want him to have in his life that is not right because he’s “breaking slowly”. The it goes back to the chorus admitting to God that he’s letting go of himself and surrendering to God. Then the bridge “You’re all I’m reaching for.” Jesus is all we reach for in the end when we realize our sins and repent from them. Therefore, our last is already over at that moment. “I offer up my soul.” He fully surrenders to Jesus and gives Him all of his life in the end! 😄
He's talking about God as in a metaphor. Saying God's Holy Spirit is always pursuing him.
I think the lyric "You're all I'm reaching for" is referencing God/Jesus. He's letting go of himself and reaching out to God as he falls. It's all that'll save him.

Red is my favorite band, but have you ever listened to Disciple? I'd recommend: Dear X, Invisible, Eternity, or Erase for the perfect Soulful Sunday react songs (they're awesome ballads with deep meanings). Otherwise, I'd recommend: Never Too Late, Long Live the Rebels, Scars Remain, The Ballad of St Augustine, Game On (an insane song!)... I'll stop there. Ha. They've been around since 1995 and have too many awesome songs! They're seriously underrated!!
