There's an interview with Rad on CZcams where they apparently put this line in as gag like "haha wouldn't that be cliché? We'd never do that!" But then something happened where season 2 had to be totally rewritten in a few days and they needed a workaround for Kipo learning about her powers, so they basically said "I guess we're actually using this trope now." Though it always feels like a call back in the actual show because the joke was so fast. There is a fun workaround to it though (the cheese isn't magic, the spores in it are sentient and that's why it knows so much and the goats can communicate with it, they're not literally sorcerers).
